Chapter 123

Adrian's pov

I laid still on the ground, grasping for breath and praying for strength to be on my feet. Alexxie kept hitting me while I was on the ground, laying curse words on me. He was trying his best to get to me. To make me feel hurt by his words. But not today. Today wasn't the day to feel hurt just from the way he saw me.

Fortunately for me a gun was close enough for me to reach it. I pushed myself up and pulled the gun closer. I used the gun to hit alexxie on the face so hard on the face that he fell flat on the ground. I managed to get up on my feet as soon as he walked down.

He groaned in pain, he bled so bad from his ear. I dragged him back on his feet but he was too weak to stand up.

"You think I'm so weak don't you?"i said and gave another blow to his face . He was all bloody and most of the blood were on my fists.

"Fight harder!"he bragged. Alexxie always never presented himself as weak before his enemies. He'd rather die than beg for mercy. But I wasn't hear for mercy. I was here to payback all that he started with me.

"You'd never learn"i said and gave a furious blow to his face. He crouched on the ground and laughed.

Meanwhile,

Mia was still locked up in her room crying and hoping for someone to rescue her. As she sat crying Simon unlocked the doors and met on the floor.

"Get up now!" He ordered her immediately.

"Why, what do you want from me now?"she asked creeping backwards away from his grip.

"Stop asking questions and follow me" he said and gripped her hands.

"No... no i won't "Mia said and tried fighting him off. She bite him so hard and ran away. But she was too slow and weak and he caught up with her.

"You should really learn to listen before making hasty decisions"he said and held her even more. She struggled with his hold till she realized it was pointless and that he his grip was stronger on her this time.

Alexxie's boys went after him when they realized he had Mia. But he had gun with him and took all of them out. Mia on the other hand was confused and wondered whose side he was now on.

She stopped struggling with him and she watched him lead her to the front door.

"We cannot interfere now. We'll ruin everything if we do so. We can only watch and strike when we need to" he explained to Mia. She nodded childishly as she watched Adrian fight with determination. He was injured and blood was on his face,shirt and hands. She felt different about him this time. Maybe he was willing this time, he was determined to save her and get her out of this mess. She stood there with tears in her eyes. He really wasn't going to give up. At least not yet.

She saw him as a different person this time. Not the usual Adrian she knew, that couldn't get over his obsession for her, that had always mentioned to her face many a times that she was his and no one else's. And for Simon the sudden change was rare . Maybe he was disappointed in his actions of betrayal. At least he showed efforts that he wanted to change and be on Adrian's side.

"How many times are you going to hit me huh... how many times have i gone down" , alexxie said with a blood filled mouth. He staggered back to his feet while I continued gasping for air.

He got closer to me and sent a huge blow my way. I was knocked out immediately.

"All my life I've never gotten the glory. You've taken everything that was meant to be mine.

I work so hard yet somehow everything goes in your favor. This is New York Sinclair. My city. I rule everything that is in and within NYC" alexxie spoke with courage.

I watched him stagger around looking for a gun, if he finds one then that would be everything, it would be the end of an empire i had managed to rule for years.

I quickly got on my feet and jammed his head to a wall. He fell effortlessly to the ground.

"You know alexxie, you're tough guy. But as it stands now, there's only one Sinclair around. The Lord of NYC. I'll keep reigning as a Mafia head. Better than you'd ever be. Rest in piece alexxie" i said and shot him twice.

I dropped the gun and fell, i was tired and weakened.

"Adrian!" . It was Mia's voice. She ran quickly to me and held me.

"Little one" i said and held her hand "you're ok. Are you ok? Did he hurt you... the child" he asked with so much concern.

"Adrian I'm fine. We are fine. But you, we need to get you to a hospital. You do not look fine at all "Mia spoke with concern.

"I'm fine Mia. There's no need to worry about me. I just need to get home. We all need to get home ". I spoke softly.

"Simon helped. He helped me get out before those men could harm me " Mia opened up.

And just like that Simon came out from were he had been standing. He couldn't look me in the eye. I was disappointed yet but it wasn't my problem yet.

"Simon is not my problem Mia. As long as you're safe"i said and rested my head on her hands.

It felt like home and peace, but we had to leave for home.

We all managed to get to the car. And leave behind the ruined mess alexxie made. I was even happier he did nothing to Mia. But now I had alot of rebuilding to do.
