I am in hell

Shyla’s P.O.V.

Under the intense gazes of Alphas, I wanted to jump right out of my skin and join the ether as the deafening silence of the room was killing me.

It was true that I was angry with Maddox, and there wasn’t a chance in hell that I would go back to him just like that. However, it didn’t mean that I would accept this stupid promise mate.

For me, there was only one sacred relationship which was fated mates selected by the Moon Goddess. I wasn’t convinced by the backward ideology of preserving pure bloodline and all that bullshit.

But the question was: How to express my views openly?

Prince Edith put me in the tight spot by lying to them. And now if I say otherwise, these bloodthirsty, experienced Alphas would tear me apart for disrespecting their traditions.

Ugh!

Why was life so hard?

Mostly, women fought with their partners and went to their parents’ house to knock some sense into their mates’ heads. Separation was the only thing which could tame a feral lycan in a short time.

But all thanks to my luck, I left my mate’s house and joined this circus where the very first show was my daring to jump in the fire.

I was about to have a panic attack when Marcel in my arms turned out to be my savior. That little angel saved his mommy despite his young age. He started crying all of a sudden, breaking the trance of all Alphas. My brain resumed its full working as I got up in a hurry.

“Excuse me, my son is hungry.”

And I ran outside the conference Hall, Mrs. Lockwood was alerted by Marcel’s cries.

“Our Prince isn’t comfortable in the new place, Your Highness.”

She had efficiently fed him and changed his clothes in the flight, making me realize that Maddox was right to send her with me. Marcel was emotionally attached to his nanny. She was the one besides me who could make him feel home. Otherwise, it would be impossible for him to adjust in the new place ASAP.

Thinking about this arrangement, I followed a maid who showed us our adjacent rooms. I was utterly annoyed by Maddox’s contradicting attitude.

On one side, he was so caring and attentive to every aspect, taking care of my needs as his top priority. And on the other hand, he didn’t consider my emotions, concealing such important information. How could he miss that?

Was he doing this on purpose?

Yes, it could be the only reason. He must be messing with my mental health!

Screw you, Maddox!

I was in the middle of cursing my mate when Prince Edith again diverted towards him. My temper quickly caught fire as I noticed my luggage unpacked and neatly arranged in the cupboard, that maid told me.

“Prince Edith has instructed us to unpack your bag, Princess. I have also prepared a warm bath for you.

Please relax and enjoy!”

Enjoy?

My foot!

I didn’t allow Marcel’s nanny to go to her room and asked that maid.

“Go and convey my message to Prince Edith. I wish to see him right now.”

The maid was momentarily confused to listen to my command, then she smiled mischievously.

“Oh, silly me!

I will call him right away.”

Ash snickered at her urgency and commented.

“That maid thinks that we want to take a bath with Prince Edith.”

Rubbish!

I scolded my traitor wolf, who pictured a nauseating scenario where Prince Edith was with us in the bath tub, completely naked.

“In your dreams, Ash!

I will never accept this promise mate.”

Ash ignored my reservations and licked her lips seductively.

“Agree or not, Prince Edith is an eye candy, Shyla. It takes two to tango, and our both mates are equally alluring and hot!”

Before I could punch Ash for her bold approach, the door of my room knocked, exciting my wolf in a heartbeat.

“Let me see him, Shyla. I still haven’t talked to his wolf in detail.”

“And you never will!”

I blocked my wolf with a scowl as her excitement was heating up my body in the wrong manner. I sat with Marcel, disciplining my emotions and allowed Edith in.

“What’s the matter, Shyla?”

Prince Edith’s mile wide smile irked me to the core, but I suppressed my annoyance and questioned.

“I came here to meet my father. Then why did you say in the meeting that I have left my mate?

It’s ridiculous!”

Prince Edith’s face changed color for a moment, but he swiftly composed himself.

“Please try to understand, Shyla.

Werewolves are oppressed under the rule of lycans, they are deprived of their basic rights. And your dad was thrilled to introduce you to everyone as soon as possible.

So, if I say that you are in love with their tormentors, those Werewolf Alphas could feel betrayed …”

He gave me a thousand reasons to support his notion, but I could only think inwardly.

“Goddess, how can he speak so much?” And then cut him off abruptly.

“I don’t know anything about politics, Prince Edith. Wars, packs, and government, these are all your problems.

So, please don’t drag me into it. I just want to spend some time with my father whom I missed for my entire life.

Hopefully, you can understand my position as well.”

Prince Edith didn’t even budge after my respectful request and focused more on political dimensions.

“Shyla, you are a pure-blooded Fenrir Alpha. All werewolves look up to you because of your unrivaled power.

It’s the Moon Goddess’s blessing that she has given us an opportunity to assert our dominance.”

Blah, blah, blah!

As Prince Edith wasn’t ready to hear me, I got up and asked Mrs. Lockwood.

“Please pack my bag. We are leaving!”

If he couldn’t respect my wishes, constantly giving me a headache with his ambitions. Then there was no meaning of staying in the Palace.

I could easily live in a human town to cool down after the recent crisis. Meeting my dad was also possible there.

Finally, my decision enlightened Prince Edith, he stopped Mrs. Lockwood instantly.

“Please stay here, Shyla.

We will make sure to follow your boundaries. Don’t leave, please!”

His piteous begging was followed by his wolf’s intimate calls, disturbing my peace. I had no way but to comply with his demands.

“Fine, Prince.

Now, please give me some privacy. I’m tired!”

Prince Edith left shortly after thanking me at length, leaving Ash aghast. She clawed my defense wall desperately.

“You are a monster, Shyla. You have hurt our mate!”

Fuck off!

Rolling my eyes at her, I played with Marcel until he was asleep, and then changed my clothes, the scent of Maddox on my body was trembling my heart. He was far away, but still close to me, his mark shining on my neck was a sign of our promises.

I took a deep breath as staying away from him was heart-rending. The memories of our shared moments made me miss him badly. He was a great companion.

I was feeling guilty for leaving him now.

Even Ash showed me the middle finger before hiding in the darkness of my mind.

“You left our mate, breaking his heart. Zeth was crying when we boarded the plane.

You will burn in hell, Shyla!”

“I am in hell!”

I shot back at her and took out Maddox’s shirt I snuck in my clothes, hugging it for some peace. Tears welled up in my eyes as I sniffled, the yearning to see him once ached my heart.

Hoping to see any message from him, I checked my cell phone. My eyes widened in disbelief,

“Sixty miscalls and three hundred massages!”

What?

I had turned my cell phone on silent mode due to flight, so I couldn’t know that Maddox was phone stalking me.

My heart waltzed in my chest to read his messages, ranging from angry texts to missing you, love you type cuties. However, the last message was an audio note, so I braced myself to hear what he wanted to say after my daring…
