Chapter 130: POWER.
~Ava’s POV~
Mira folded her arms as she watched me circle the training mat. “You’re tense,” she said. “And distracted.”
“I’m fine,” I muttered.
“That’s usually what people say right before they fall on their faces.”
“I’m not going to fall.”
“Then prove it.”
She lunged at me without warning.
I reacted faster than I ever had in my life—too fast. My body twisted, my feet pivoted, and I grabbed her wrist, flipping her over my shoulder so cleanly she hit the ground with a sharp exhale.
Mira blinked at the ceiling. “Okay… what the hell was that?”
I stepped back, breath shaky. “I—I didn’t mean to do it that hard.”
She sat up, rubbing her spine. “Ava, I’m not complaining. I’m asking how you did it. That move should’ve taken you months to master.”
“I don’t know,” I whispered.
But I did know.
My hand drifted to my stomach.
Mira’s eyes followed the motion. “You alright?”
“I’m fine.”
“Ava…”
“I said I’m fine.”
She raised a brow. “That’s the second lie you’ve told in the last thirty seconds.”
I exhaled, trying to steady myself. My heart was racing, but not from the training. It was the same rush I felt earlier—when the truth settled deep inside me.
I was pregnant.
With Kieran’s child.
The realization had torn me in two—joy so bright it lifted my chest, sorrow so cruel it crushed it immediately after. But Mira didn’t know yet. No one did. I couldn’t say it out loud. Not yet.
“Ava, let’s try again,” Mira said, getting to her feet. “Slow this time. Let me see your stance.”
I nodded.
She approached cautiously this time, as if I had suddenly become a wild animal that might throw her across the forest. “Okay,” she said. “I’ll go left. Block me.”
She moved.
My body responded with impossible precision. I didn’t just block—I twisted around her and knocked her feet out from under her again.
Mira hit the ground with a shout. “Ava! What is happening?!”
“I don’t know!”
“Yes, you do,” she snapped.
I froze.
Mira stood, breathing hard, her expression sharpening. “Did something happen? Something you didn’t tell me?”
“It’s nothing.”
“Ava.”
I swallowed. “My body just feels… different. Stronger. Faster.”
Mira narrowed her eyes. “Is this because of the prophecy?”
“No,” I whispered before I could stop myself.
She caught it instantly. “Then what?”
I hesitated.
She stepped closer. “Whatever it is, you don’t have to hide it from me.”
My throat tightened. “I’m not hiding it.”
“Liar.”
I turned away from her, staring at the distant trees, letting the cold air cool my face. “I woke up feeling like my blood was humming,” I said quietly. “Like every part of me was awake all at once.”
Mira walked around to face me again. “And it started today?”
I nodded.
She crossed her arms. “Ava… did you take something? Drink something? Touch some weird glowing artifact, because you do find those, apparently.”
“No.”
“Then what—”
“It’s the baby!” I blurted out.
Mira froze.
Her mouth fell open. “The… what?”
I closed my eyes. “I’m pregnant.”
Silence.
A long one.
Then she whispered, “Oh my Goddess…”
I swallowed. “Please don’t freak out.”
“I’m not freaking out,” she said immediately, while obviously freaking out. “Ava, this is huge. This is, this is, when? How? Actually no, wait, don’t tell me how, I know how…”
“Mira.”
She inhaled sharply. “Is it Kieran’s?”
“It’s his,” I said softly. “Of course it’s his.”
Her expression softened, deeply, painfully. “Ava… I’m so sorry.”
I shook my head. “Don’t. I’m happy. I am. But…”
“But he’s not awake.”
The words cut more than I expected.
I nodded. “He needs me, and he doesn’t even know… he doesn’t even know we created something together.”
Mira stepped closer and squeezed my shoulder. “He’ll wake up.”
“You don’t know that.”
“Then I’ll lie to both of us until it becomes true.”
A laugh escaped me, small, broken. “Thank you.”
She smiled faintly. “Now the power surge makes sense. You’re carrying an Alpha’s child. And not just any Alpha—Kieran’s bloodline is ancient. Strong. Tied to the prophecy himself. Ava, that baby isn’t ordinary.”
“I can feel it,” I whispered. “It’s like… like something inside me is shielding me. Helping me.”
“Maybe protecting itself,” Mira said. “Which means you have to be careful. Training is fine, but no reckless moves. And you need to tell Damon and Eric so they can…”
“No.”
Mira stared at me. “No?”
“No one else can know yet,” I said firmly. “Not after everything that just happened. Not with Damon acting strange. Not with Livia taking over the pack. Not with Kieran lying unconscious. I need time.”
“But Ava…”
“I said no.”
Mira sighed. “Okay. Your secret stays with me.”
I nodded gratefully.
She gestured to the training field. “But we still need to figure out how much your strength has changed. Just in case the prophecy is… you know… waking up inside you.”
“I know.”
“Alright,” she said, stepping back. “We’ll do simple tests. No flipping me this time.”
I smirked. “No promises.”
“Great,” she muttered. “I’m going to die.”
She lunged again, this time slower.
I blocked her easily, but forced myself not to overpower the movement.
She nodded. “Good. Again.”
We repeated the steps, block, twist, step, strike. With each move, it became clearer.
I wasn’t imagining it.
My body was different.
My reflexes were sharper, my muscles stronger, my senses heightened. I could hear things miles away, smell faint trails in the air, and feel vibrations through the ground.
“Ava,” Mira said after our tenth round, “you’re not just improving… you’re evolving.”
I wiped sweat from my brow. “It’s the baby.”
“Maybe. Or maybe the prophecy works through generations.” She hesitated. “A child of Kieran and the Moon’s chosen vessel… that might be exactly what the prophecy meant.”
“I don’t care about the prophecy,” I said quietly. “I just want to protect my baby.”
Mira softened again. “And you will.”
“I won’t let anyone hurt them,” I whispered. “Not Damon. Not Livia. Not the council. Not fate. Not prophecy. No one.”
Mira nodded. “Good. That’s exactly the mindset you need.”
I placed a hand on my stomach again, more deliberate this time.
“I’m going to fight for you,” I whispered to the life growing inside me. “And for your father. And for the pack Livia stole. I will get it all back.”
Mira exhaled. “Training is over for today. You need to rest.”
“I’m fine.”
“You’re pregnant, Ava.”
I paused.
“Right. I… I guess I am.”
“And you’re already stronger than me,” Mira added. “Which is unfair and rude.”
A small laugh escaped me.
She smiled. “Come on. Let’s head back.”
As we walked away from the training ground, I glanced over my shoulder.
My child had power.
Which meant I had power.
Enough to save Kieran.
Enough to reclaim everything.
Enough to fight destiny itself.
I tightened my fist.
“I’m ready,” I whispered.
