Chapter 63: Sixty-three
Alana
Mrs Morgana, no my mother explained everything she could remember about that day and even the one she remembered recently from a vision the Moon goddess showed her.
It seemed someone wanted me to be separated from my family, but who?, and why ?, this questions kept ringing in my head as I was on my way back to my chambers that I didn't even notice my surroundings till I bumped into someone.
"Oh I'm so sorry.." I looked up and realized it was Alex I bumped into , I was a bit surprised because i hadn't seen him since the day of the Liam's incident and him lying to me about not seeing Verly .
Speaking about Verly I wonder how she would react when she finds out ,I am her elder sister, I wonder if she will ,stop her enemity towards me .
" You seem distracted Alana, are you okay ?" He touched my shoulders.
I removed his hands from my shoulders and I could see a bit of anger in his expression but he quickly masked it , I was shocked because i had never seen such a reaction from him before.
It seems I don't really know him like I thought I did, "I'm perfectly fine Alex, i was just a bit list in thought, how have you been, i haven't seen you for a while now , where have you been?" I questioned him.
He seemed to think for a while before replying me ,"Hmm I had to go back to spend time with my parents, it was my father's birthday".
"Your parents?" I raised an eyebrow "i thought Dr Kodivic said you were an orphan" .
I saw a bit of panic in his expression but just like the first time , he masked it immediately, "Yeah my biological parents are dead, I'm talking about the family that has been taking care of me , I also consider them my parents".
"Oh, why didn't you inform me , I would have giving you a gift to help me give him" I asked .
"It's fine Alana , you have a lot on your mind already, and besides there will be plenty of time for you to meet them in the future".
I know it was a simple statement but for some reasons I felt chills down my spine when he said it, I didn't like the feeling.
"Oh okay then, I will talk to you later I need to go see Liam, I feel I haven't been spending time withlex, I need to go see Liam, I feel I haven't been spending time with him since I moved into Damien's chambers," I said, trying to politely extricate myself from the conversation.
But Alex's expression darkened, and he aggressively grabbed my arm, his grip tightening like a vice. "What do you mean you're sleeping in Damien's chambers?" he growled, his eyes blazing with an intensity that made me uncomfortable.
I winced in pain, trying to pull my arm free. "Alex, you're hurting me," I said, my voice firm but calm.
He seemed to snap out of his trance, his eyes widening in surprise, and he quickly apologized, releasing my arm. "I'm sorry, Alana, I didn't mean to hurt you, but You're not thinking clearly, Alana. You're putting yourself in danger by being so close to him."."
I rubbed my sore arm, my eyes narrowing. ""I mean exactly what I said, Alex," Alana replied, trying to keep her voice steady. "I'm sleeping in Damien's chambers because I'm his Mate and the mother of his children. It's none of your business where I choose to sleep."
And Alex, but let me make one thing clear if you have a problem with it, you can leave."
Alex's face turned red, and he looked like he'd been slapped. "I...I didn't mean to overstep," he stammered.
I raised an eyebrow. "You didn't mean to? Alex,I appreciate your help in finding my children, but I won't allow you to control me or dictate what I can and can't do. Do I make myself clear?"
Alex nodded, looking chastened, and I turned to leave, but not before I saw a flicker of anger in his eyes.
"Alana wait", I heard him call out to me
I turned back to him, her eyes cold. "What is it, Alex?"
"Nothing. Just...be careful, okay?"
I raised an eyebrow. "I can take care of myself, Alex. I don't need your protection."
With that, I turned and walked away, leaving Alex standing alone in the corridor.
I made my way back to my chambers, my mind racing with thoughts of Alex's strange behavior and the secrets he seemed to be hiding. As I entered my room, I was surprised to see Liam sitting on the bed, looking pale and worried.
"Hey, little one. How was your day?"
Liam looked up at me with big brown eyes. "It was good, Mommy. I missed you."
Alana smiled, hugging him tight. "I missed you too, sweetie. But I have some exciting news. Your father found out some new information about your siblings."
Liam's eyes widened. "Asher and Aurora?"
Alana nodded. "That's right. Your father is trying to find out more about them, but it's not easy. They're...hidden, somehow."
Liam's face scrunched up in thought. "You don't have to sugar coat anything, I'm more matured than others, and Dad already filled me in on everything going on"
I sighed, at my foolishness of tying to simplify the complex truth to Liam , my adult child.
I hugged Liam tight, as my thoughts drifted to what happened with Alex in the hall way, one thing I know is that i would never let Alex or anyone else control me again. I am a mother, a Mate, and a powerful woman in my own right. So I will fight to the death to protect her family, if I have to .
