Chapter 30: weddings
**Luciano**
As it turns out, weddings are horrible. If I were Italy this would be big affair, and if everything wasn't perfect I'd practically be flayed.
"Everything has to be perfect."
She smiles so wide, my stress melts away.
"Okay, honeymoon?"
I bite my lip. It would be a miracle if there wasn't a shoot out at the wedding, let alone us leaving the country.
"What's with that face?"
"Baby, I—"
I look at her, the hope on her face can't be faked. Well it can but...it's not...leave the hell alone!
"I will make it happen. Pick a place on the map and we will go."
She squeals and jumps on me, peppering my face with kisses. "Thank you, thank you, thank you Lucy! You're the best! I—"
Time stands still. She won't say it, she doesn't feel it. Heat of the moment, I know that.
I just have to remind my heart that.
I'm really sick of that asshole. I thought I got rid of it a long time ago.
"Invitations. How many guests? Cake tasting! Wine tasting! Dress hunting! We have so much work to do!"
She starts going haywire.
"Hey, hey, listen. I will do this for you. All you have to do is pick. Well taste cakes. As wine. There is a guest list. You tell me it's too many, then I fix it. This is our day, but it's your day. Lemme handle this, huh?"
She nods, kissing my lips softly.
"How am I gonna handle this, huh?!"
"How am I gonna handle this, huh?!"
"I can't be everywhere at once, and I can't forget about the impending attack, and the honeymoon I—"
I collapse on my best friend's couch. He blinks at me blearily.
"Why couldn't this wait until morning."
I scoff and roll my eyes. "It is morning."
His mouth hangs open as he slowly nods twice.
"I'm gonna kill you."
"Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed."
That does it. "The fact I'm out of bed at all, makes me really wanna out hole through you."
"So violent. I need help. You're my best friend and best man—"
"If you don't get out of her, Luciano there's not gonna be a wedding, cause there's not gonna be a groom. It'll funeral. Capsico?"
Touchy.
"Look, I'll help you later, I have—"
"Nick?" A familiar woman calls out from his bedroom. My eyes bug.
"I'm coming, honey gimme a second."
He turns attention to me.
"Does she know?"
Niccolò shook his head somberly.
"So she's the one you've been sneaking around with."
"Yes, inspector gadget, now get out, and don't tell Savannah."
I groan angrily. I came for help not more secrets to hide from Savannah.
It's hard to hide secrets from her as it is.
But this? She'd kill me. I don't think that's an exaggeration.
"Luciano Romano Vitale, I will kill you and don't think that's an exaggeration
"Luciano Romano Vitale, I will kill you and don't think that's an exaggeration."
"Baby! I'll fix it!"
She starts crying.
Here we go.
"If we don't have white roses then, then what do we have? A disaster. That's what."
I close my eyes in frustration. "Kitty, baby I will get you white roses. I will kill for you to get white roses. I promise in my life."
She sniffles. "You seem to be gambling that a lot lately."
"What else do I got?"
"The wedding is only three days away and I don't even have a dress!"
Gods, I hate weddings.
Even my own. Hell, I hate my own more than anyone else's.
"Then go. Take your friend Deena and Niccolò and keep going until you find it. The dress and flowers are the only things left to do."
"Okay. Thank yo—"
Her eyes go wild. I know this look. I've seen tho look everyday for thirteen days.
"Luciano: shoes, the reception, vows!"
"Baby, find the dress first. Then find the shoes. I have taken care of reception as for vows, we could just say I Do."
If I make it that far.
