Chapter 123

The news about Scarlett's disappearance spread all over the pack but no one knew the real reason for her disappearance. Some people said she ran away to be with her mate, while others said she ran away because she felt like she wasn't ready to get married.

Nothing pleased me more than to know that Scarlet did not eventually end up with Rush. Now it was time for me to make my advances on Rush, to make him like me and fall in love with me, and I was going to do whatever it took, even if it meant seducing him. 

One day, I decided I was going to visit him at the palace. I dressed up really sexily and made my way to the palace. When I got there, I asked the guards if I wanted to see Rush.

""What business do you have with the Future Alpha, Rush? Do you have an appointment with him? Did he request to see you?"" The guard asked me.

I wanted to lie that I had an appointment with Rush or that he had requested to see me, but then I realized that if I lied and the truth was eventually found out, I could be in trouble, so I said, 

"Not really. You know, Scarlett, the woman he was supposed to get married to was my best friend. And now that she's disappeared, I know that future alpha Rush will be really upset and sad about the whole thing. I just thought that it would be best for me to come over and show my support to him. It's something my best friend would have wanted me to do."" 

The guide looked at me from head to toe with a look I could not fathom on his face. Then he shook his head and said,

"The future alpha Rush doesn't want to see anyone at the moment."

""Are you sure? Please can you tell him that it's me Laura, Scarlet's best friend. Could you please let him know that I am just here to show my support?"" I insisted.

""You're asking me if I am sure? Are you trying to call me a liar or what?"" The guard said, looking really upset.

I knew I had to apologize immediately, or I could be locked up for disrespect to a royal guard.

""I am really sorry. I didn't mean it that way. Please forgive my disrespect,"" I said.

""You are forgiven, but still your request to meet with the future Alpha Rush cannot be granted because what I said earlier still stands. He doesn't want to be disturbed by anyone at this moment,"" the guard repeated.

I greeted my teeth in anger. My plans were not working out the way I had expected. Seeing that there was no way I could get into the palace to meet with Rush, I decided to walk away defeated. I went back to my house and thought for days about the next source of action to take concerning Scarlett like I had promised Rose I would. 

If she managed to get back to the Hidden Moon Pack, I would be done for because then I would be exposed for having an involvement in her disappearance and I could be executed and that I would not let happen. Finally, I had a plan. I rushed to Rose's house to let her know what my plan was. 

""Are you crazy? How could you suggest that we go to her mate's pack to kill her there? Are you trying to get yourself and me killed? I'm sorry, Laura. I have gone along with every other plan of yours, but if you see this one, I would not go along with it because this is a suicide mission,"" Rose said.

""Okay then, forget I said anything about going there to kill her. How about we just go there to ensure that we do everything possible to make sure she remains there? Because she mustn't return to this pack or else your life and mine are at stake,"" I said. 

""Well, this is a plan I can go along with. At least it doesn't involve me risking my life,"" Rose said.

I glared at her and when she realized, she quickly apologized for speaking to me rudely because she was still my minion, and I was her leader. We talked more about our plan and finalized that we were going to visit Alpha Derek's pack the next day. The very next day, I told my mom I was going on a trip to Rose.

She asked me why I did not tell her earlier, and I apologize for letting her know that it was an impromptu idea. It took me a while before I could convince her to let me go. When she let me leave the house eventually, I went to the bushes that served as an entrance in and out of the Hidden Moon pack. This is where I had told Rose to meet me and when I got there, she was already waiting.

"That took you so long," she said.

""It took me about to convince my mom to let me leave the house. How did you get your parents to let you leave the house?"" I asked her, surprised.

""Well, that's easy. I didn't tell them I was going on a trip; I told them I was going to some bushes far away from the pack to get some of the rarest herbs they need for producing their medicines,"" Rose replied.

Her parents were like physicians because they dealt with herbal medication. Rose had been helping them since she was little, and she was really dedicated to the business, so it was probably easy for her parents to believe her lies.

""Well, you're lucky. You don't know how hard I had to convince my own mother,"" I said to her.

""Well, you can say that again. I think it's best we get going now. I heard that the Crescent Moon pack, Alpha Derek's pack, is really far from here. We should get going,"" Rose said, and I agreed with her.

I took one last look at my village park before turning back around and walking away with Rose. I hoped all my efforts would turn out useful eventually.
