Chapter 38: Mister Jay's True Identity Is Finally Revealed

"Miss, we've entered the port area," said Collin, parking the car in a safe place. When I went outside and saw the scene, I saw how chaotic the port was with the debris from the explosions that hadn't been cleared, even though it seemed the victims had been moved to evacuation and treatment centers.

There were many crew members from the east and north, all wearing similar black t-shirts, working to clean the port area.

"It's five in the morning; the sun will rise soon, and that means it's already the fourth day since the explosion from the south," I muttered, looking at the still dark atmosphere of the harbor. There was a ship that suffered significant damage, with half of it destroyed by an explosion. Mr. Jay's crew was also busy repairing the ship.

"It seems three days won't be enough to handle the fishermen's protests, compensate them, sort and calculate the losses, clean the area, and repair the damage," Collin said, our gazes fixed on the ship being cleaned for repairs.

"That's right, the damage even reached the merchants' area over there." When I said that, two of Mr. Jay's henchmen approached us.

"May I know who these gentlemen and ladies are? And what do you need here?" They interrogated us.

"We were planning to take photos at sea, and we didn't know it was like this. Can we know what happened?" Collin asked, pretending not to know anything.

"First, please show us your identification cards. You can't just enter a heavily guarded area like this on your own." I fell silent for a moment; it seemed we had to run from here before we were discovered. But then, unexpectedly, Collin handed two identification cards to Mister Jay's men.

They seemed to be reading the identification cards and looking at us alternately to make sure the photos on the identification cards matched us.

"Alright, you can only be here for a maximum of fifteen minutes, and you are not allowed to take any photos," one of them said. I was a little disbelieving because we passed the inspection, and we were allowed to be in the port area for a while.

"Thank you," Collin said, ending our conversation with Mr. Jay's men, who were now leaving to return to work.

"How did you get that ID card?" I asked incredulously. In such a short time, Collin had prepared so many things that I hadn't even thought of as provisions for our trip east.

"I rushed to print it as I left your office. I thought you were too worried and had a lot on your mind, and you wouldn't think about the preparations we needed to bring here. So I prepared it myself." And Collin never disappoints me.

"Right, I didn't even think about what I'd be facing here. I just want to go and find Jean here. Lucky for me, I have a Collin by my side." Collin replied with a smile, and he also said that it was his duty as a subordinate

"Now we must find Jean immediately and leave. Come on, miss, we don't have much time." Collin guided me to walk and see Mr. Jay's men working.

However, almost ten minutes had passed, and we still couldn't find Jean anywhere. Collin asked me to approach the ship and take a close look at the workers there. And again, I didn't find Jean among them.

"Collin, I can't find it. Is it possible he's been assigned to headquarters?" I asked Collin.

"Could be, or is he in the evacuation room? Because I haven't found Luca here either." I replied, agreeing with Collin's statement. I also hadn't seen Luca anywhere since earlier.

"How many minutes left?""Four minutes left, miss," Collin replied.

"Should we just go?" My gaze scanned the entire harbor in search of the person we were looking for, once again. But still, my eyes didn't find any of them.

"Miss, we really need to go. It seems Mr. Jay has arrived." Collin's gaze was fixed on the entrance to the harbor. There are three cars entering, and we believe the frontmost car is the one used by Mr. Jay. Wait until it comes down; I want to know, Mister Jay. However, my words were not agreed upon by Collin.

"No, miss, we need to get out of here quickly before Mr. Jay's men realize our time is up, or they kick us out because their boss has arrived." Collin even pulled my hand to leave.

At that moment, my gaze was fixed on the car ahead, curious about what Mr. Jay looked like. At the same time, the sun rose, revealing its light that filled the harbor area.

Someone came down from there, wearing a black shirt and sunglasses, followed by his other henchmen, one of whom turned out to be Luca.

I squinted my eyes, taking a closer look at the tall, large figure of Mr. Jay. As they approached, the man we assumed was Mr. Jay opened his glasses. My heart was racing, my eyes were stinging, and my forehead was sweating. How could it not be? When the man took off his glasses and the sun shone on his face, I realized and knew that I recognized that figure very well.

Mister Jay, how can someone be the person who tells stories while tearfully talking about their family? How could that person be the same one who was flirting with me at an inn, who said he wanted me like crazy, and who said he would spend his life finding a way to break off my engagement to Leonard and marry me?

Are they really the same people? I couldn't control my feelings; my heart was beating erratically like I was seeing a ghost, but no matter how many times I wiped my eyes to stop the tears, all I could see was that man.

As I recalled Luca's description of Mister Jay's characteristics, how could I not have been suspicious?

"Collin, am I seeing things wrong? I must be wrong, right? Because I saw it while running," I asked Collin, even though we weren't running or walking anymore.

"Yes, miss. You're not wrong." That's Mr. Jay, and Mr. Jay turns out to be Jean.
