Chapter 98 - right thing to do
That I give the full gist.
"Let us order first", I say and Bianca does that as swiftly as swift can be before turning back to look at me.
Her hands relaxed on the table elbow down.
Oh well, let the tale begin.
I decide to share the story of my life.
I of course do not give them the intricate details
But they do know that I worked with my aunt and had a crazy boyfriend before Simon came and gave me the best sec of my life.
No, I had literally gone to Simon and ran away from him again.
They also know that I had a rival who has now disappeared. I still do not know the full details, but I know it is a formmof punishment, the same way they know that my mother in-law fell in love with me slowly and treats me like a child.
Simon and I are however yet to tell her about the baby, for not particularll reasons ony own end.
Simon just however have a reason, one I do not want to question.
After my tale, the two of them are staring at me with a look o can not exactly explain.
Except before I can fill relax from all the talking, their hands come on my shoulder and hand and they give me soothing strokes.
"Just know we will always be here for you, uhn", they both say.
"Yes yes, I know, now let us dig in", I say as I pick my fork, trying to wonder why and where exactly the compassion is from.
"Okay then, our soup is turning cold. I ordered some white wine, will that be okay?", Bianca asks as the wine arrives.
"Well, I guess a little wouldn't hurt", I say with a smile.
Or would it?
I am about to recieve my cup with the wine in it when my phone starts to ring.
Who else would it be?
I share a look with my two friends and they nod back with understanding.
"I'll go use the bathroom", I say and excuse myself as I make my way there.
But when I look at my phone's screen, it is not who I thought it would be.
Not Simon, but rather Mr Bennett..
This is suspicious and quite uninteresting.
I was hoping to hear Simon's voice.
"Good day Mr Bennett, I hope you are well", I say because I do not exactly know what to say.
"Yes, but not exactly. There was a fire Mr Simon was around and I thought you were inside, so he went in to find you", he says hurriedly and my head literally implodes.
"Do you mean Simon went inside the fire? Where? How? What fire?", I ask, but I am hurrying back out of the restroom and taking the nearest exit towards the parking lot.
"Some contestant who lost in the first phase caused a fire at the art room and", he is still talking when I hang up.
Damn it.
I reach the car just in time.
"Where to young miss?", Henry asks as soon as I get into the car.
I am glad he can sense my emergency as he starts the car almost immediately.
I notice the vehicles of the body guards coming behind me as well.
That is good, but not good enough.
I need to see Simon safe and unscratched.
"The art gallery please", I say and fasten my seat belt.
"I am okay with the extra speed", I tell him and he steps ofln the accelerator.
He is an experienced driver and the road is freez so we should be there faster.
Damn it!
I can not worry about my friends right now, because this is not the first time, neither is it the second time I would be diyching them during lunch to meet Simon.
The only thing that is different is that this time, it is for a course other than having sex.
Which is quite terrifying.
What psycho burns art in anger.
If he truly appreciated and deserved it, then he wouldn't burn it Inna for of rage.
As we near the gallery, I can hear the sound of sirens.
Both of the police car and the ambulance.
"Simon", I call in panic as I rush through the midst of people.
The ambulance is still empty and there are fire fighters trying to put out the fire as well from the outside.
Damn it!
I look around to no sign of Simon, maybe he is still inside?
The thought sends bells ringing in my head and before I know it, I am headed for the entrance clouded in smoke.
I carry my long skirt in my hands, grateful for the flats I have on, I run right into the fire.
"Simon", I call as I do so.
But from the side, I feel myself being held back.
"Miss Ashley, Mr Simon was just carried out of the fire. Like husband like wife", he says referring to our impulsiveness as Simon had done exactly what he is holding me back from doing.
Mr Bennett knew about our engagement the day after Simon did the official proposal.
Simon made sure to show that one off to him.
Except he isn't here right nowor maybe he is, but he was 'carried out'.
"What do you mean by carried out? Where is my Simon?" I ask as I wiggle out of his hold and look around for any signs of Simon.
"Miss Ashley, please calm down. He is okay and only sustained a few bruises and burns", He says.
"My Simon only sustained a few bruises and burns, but what where you doing when all of that happened uhn? Why did you let him get into the fire and only call me afterwards? Where is he now?", I ask.
My tone is high, my words are filled with acquisition, but I can not help but be like that when Simon was I that much trouble.
The fire is huge, what if he wasn't our before things got worse.
I know it is not is fault, but I can not help but want to blame someone else or something else when I know it is my fault.
He went in there for me because he thought I was in the fire.
"I am sorry miss Ashley", he says while giving me the "I have never seen this side of you" look.
But I couldn't care less.
"I am sorry too, so where is my Simon. I need to see him, he needs to tell me for himself that he is fine and and", I pause as I try not to break down at that point.
I just want to see Simon.
"I'll take you to him", Mr Bennett says and starts to lead me towards what I can only assume is his own car, but before I reach its the body guards Simon hired come in between us and walk up to him.
There is a little confrontation while the female guard holds me and hands me an handkerchief because of the smoke.
I nod at her as I can not bring myself to say thank you without crying.
But I can not do that just yet.
I need to find my Simon first.
Soon enough, we head back towards the car I came in.
Mr Bennett shares the car with me, but he is sitting in front while the female bodyguard stays beside me and calmly briefs menof the situation.
He was not in the fire for too long, so there was no casualties and he already knows that I was not in the fire, so he is also waiting for me.
That calms me down.
The new information does and all I want to do right now is see Simon.
We arrive at the hospital he is in soon enough and I hurry towards the elevator, but the female bodyguard whose name is Taylor leads me else where.
To the VIP elevator that leads directly to his floor and wouldn't take any extra time or anything.
Great, because Simon is a major share holder in it.
As soon as we arrive our destination, I am first to reach Simon's bed.
And without a thought, I throw myself into his arms.
"Simon", I call his name as I cry onto his chest and the groan that escapes his lips hurts me even more.
I feel so guilty and I can only go on to apologise to him.
"I am sorry, I really am sorry", I say.
To apologize for not being there. To apologize that he didn't know where I was. To apologize that he thought I was in the fire.
I understand that he gets my location report as well.
So apologize for the negligence of duty as well or if it was because he reached him but he didn't get it on time, I apologize for that one also.
"I am so sorry that you're hurt" I say with a sniffle as I look at his bandaged left arm.
His right is wrapped around me.
"I am sorry for writing you and the baby also. I should have confirmed before going in there", he says.
I want to protest that it is my fault and not is, but I know he would not have it and he has to rest, so I leave it at that and just hold unto him as if I could magically take all the pain away.
Because that is the only thing I can think of doing.
But before I know it, I start to feel dizzy and after yawning about three times in a row, I fall asleep in his arms, on the hospital bed which I am grateful that it is wide enough for two.
