Chapter 94: DARIUS' THREAT

Amara was terrified. Seeing Isaiah's murderous expression, her face turned pale. Taking a step back, she nearly stumbled on her footing. She almost fell on a thorny shrub, but lucky for her, Isaiah caught her by the waist in time.

"Be careful," he said, hauling her closer. "You almost tripped over the plant."

Amara blinked rapidly, feeling confused. One moment he was gentle towards her, then the next second, he would look at her as if he wanted to kill her. His quick change of behavior took her off guard. Now, she couldn't take her eyes off him.

Isaiah was several inches taller than her, so she had to look up to see his face. When she looked up, their eyes met.

A gasp escaped her lips when she delved into his orbs. She felt like she was pulled into the deepest part of his soul, entangling her in an endless abyss of misery. The fire almost burned her soul. She couldn't take it anymore, so she pushed him away and ran as fast as possible.

Isaiah's lips tugged upwards, satisfied with how he was able to manipulate Amara's mind. He watched her scrambling her way back to her quarters in amusement. 'You can run, but you can never hide from me, Amara. Sooner or later, you will come begging for me!'

On the other hand, Amara was running at a fast speed, completely forgetting about the fact that she was capable of flying. She rushed to her quarters like a whirlwind when she bumped into her slaves, who were currently doing the cleaning. It was then that she was able to snap back to her senses.

"Ahh!" One of her slaves was sent back flying several steps due to the impact, and she hit the water container nearby which was filled with gray water, and it smeared the newly polished floor again. The sight made Amara burn in anger.

She straightened up. Her radiant face was back to normal. Now, she looked more arrogant than ever. Then, she stared at the slave angrily.

"What are you doing?!" She ranted. "Didn't I tell you to stay away from my chamber unless I told you to come?!"

All the slaves pursed their lips and looked down at their feet, refusing to look at her. No one dared to reason out of fear that they might get into trouble. They'd been working under her for a couple of decades, and they were familiar with her. They had witnessed a lot of scenarios where Amara had burned a few of her previous slaves alive just because she lost her temper. That terrifying scene scared everyone to death. Furthermore, lowly dragons like them were nothing compared to royal-blooded dragons. One wrong move, and they won't be able to come out again to see their families.

"You!" She shouted while pointing at each one of them. "All of you! Get the hell out of here!"

Hearing her command, all the slaves dispersed and scurried out of her quarters as fast as they could. It was as if they were being chased after by a monster.

In a blink, Amara was left alone. She went to her room and sat down. She tried to recall what had happened earlier. However, no matter how hard she racked her brain to remember, she couldn't. Isaiah's image was the only thing that appeared on her mind.

Amara had never encountered anything like this before. She thought that she was the only one capable of manipulating every male dragon's mind using her charm and her status as the young lady of the Cage Clan. However, she fails to overrule Isaiah's mind and, in the end, she loses her face in front of him.

The feeling was quite unsettling to her stomach, which made her quite upset.

Amara jumped out of bed and ran to her balcony. She shifted and flew directly to her parents' chambers.

As soon as she landed on the balcony, she was greeted by an astounding sight.

"Darius!" she huffed excitedly. "You're back!"

She approached him quickly, throwing both arms around him. "I missed you so much!" she murmured lovingly.

The chamber was too crowded, but it seemed like only Darius had caught Amara's attention.

Vladimir, who was in the middle of his check-up, suddenly blurted. "Amara, pay attention to your surroundings!"

It was then that she finally came to notice the presence of their palace doctor with his subordinates and Antonia. However, the sight of them wasn't enough to convince her to let go of Darius. She had missed him so much that she wanted to kiss him right there and then.

Her moment of joy was suddenly interrupted when Darius pulled himself out of her grasp. Then he stared at her coldly in disgust.

"You are no longer a child. You can't just hug me whenever you want!" He reminded her in the presence of everyone. His voice was sharp, piercing her heart. "I came here to ask you, Vladimir. Where is she?"

Amara was utterly broken, but she was quick to catch the meaning of Darius' words. She looked around the crowd before she asked, "Who are you looking for, Darius?"

She noticed that aside from the doctor and his staff, there was only Antonia and Mystica was nowhere to be seen. Her absence brightened her mood. She smiled and once again she attempted to get closer to Darius.

"Brother, did she finally realize that she couldn't match your identity and left without a word?" She speculated sarcastically. "That was a clever move."

Antonia's hand, on the other hand, hurriedly dragged her daughter away from Darius' reach. Then she warned her in a low voice. "Keep your mouth shut! Don't provoke your brother any further!"

"Did that little whore leave him?" Amara whispered askance to Antonia. "How could she do that?"

"Shut up, Amara!" Antonia hissed. "Stop speaking nonsense before your brother hears you!"

Too elated by her discovery, Amara ignored her mother's warning and went on babbling about Mystica's ungrateful and unruly behavior.

"That crooked creature! How dare she leave him! After all that he's done for her, is this how she repays him?" She was carried too much in ridiculing Mystica and by the time she was done talking, she sensed that everyone was staring at her.

The atmosphere turned chilly, especially when Darius gazed in her direction. His lips evoked a cold smile as if he was about to say something that he shouldn't.

"Darius, please don't!" Antonia felt uneasy. "You can't do this!"

"Why would I listen to you, Antonia?" He retorted coldly. "Shouldn't we suppose to put her in her right place long ago?"

Amara suddenly found herself in confusion. "What was it? What are you talking about, Darius?"

Darius darted his gaze back to Vladimir, who remained silent as if he wasn't bothered by whatever he planned. His nonchalance only fueled his anger even more.

"Won't you really tell me where she is?" he asked again. This time, his voice held a hint of warning. "Don't blame me if I say something inappropriate then."
