Chapter 58: It's that time of the month

When he heard what the little girl said, he knew that she was having a nightmare. However, Kai frowned. Did this girl somehow experience a life and Death situation somewhere ? Looking at the thin frame she had, Kai didn't think that was possible. What Kai didn't know was that Lomesa had indeed undergone such a situation before. Its only difference was that , the situation she underwent was in her previous life, thus, no one was able to understand it at the moment. It was not like everyone had been reborn just like her, right? Since Kai didn't know what exactly triggered her to have that nightmare, he could only hug her trembling body tightly. After all, he didn't know how to comfort people. He was just an emotionless person after all. Kai never expected that his embrace would have a calming effect on the girl in his arms. As though she had sensed some warmth, Lomesa, who was asleep, immediately looked for a safe and warmer place and snuggled . She continued sleeping. Kai looked at her and a smile flashed past his eyes. He wondered why she was so trusting. Anyway, somewhere in Kai's heart, he wished that she could always be dependable on him. He didn't know why he would wish for that to happen. As he was lost in thought, he realized that he had already arrived on his bedroom door. He immediately pushed it open without a second thought and entered with Lomesa in his arms. Only after he had placed Lomesa on his bed gently did he realize what he had done. He felt that he has gone berserk. He was clearly a neat freak. He never shared his things with others. So, how come he had placed the girl on it without feeling any sense of disgust?He really wondered if something was wrong with his brain this time. However, he didn't even have the time to muse over it when A knock sounded on his door. The doctor came In with his instruments.

"Sir." The doctor bowed respectfully to Kai. However, he was secretely shocked. Why was there a woman on his boss's bed? After all , the last time a woman appeared on his bed, she was thrown out without arms and limbs, the sight back then was too gore. From that moment onwards, no woman , no matter how gutsy the woman was, they had never tried climbing onto his boss's bed again.

It seemed like that incident back then had cast quite a psychological shadow on them. They were so traumatised by that event that they dared not play any tricks on Kai.

Now, he was seeing a woman on Kai's bed, and not only that, Kai actually seemed so anxious about her? Just who was this woman? , she could actually make Kai fretting over her? Anyway, it didn't matter who the woman was, he just knew that he had to be respectful to her from now on, who knew of she would be their future madam? He wanted to get into her good books.

"Alright sir." The doctor snapped out of his daze and immediately got to work. He didn't want his salary to be deducted again!

It had to be known that even though Kai was a typical play boy, he had never brought the women he came with to his master bedroom. He would always use the guestrooms. He

was a germaphobe, simply put, he would always feel disgusted when someone touched his clothes , how could he allow someone to sleep on his bed? As Kai watched the doctor meticulously check on Lomesa, he fell deep into thought. Actually, the series of actions that he had Been doing recently got him surprised. He clearly was supposed to be cold and indifferent. What exactly had gotten into him? Ever since his mother's death years ago, he had stopped caring about people. Especially women. After all, the person who caused his mother's death back then was a woman, if he could, he would have killed every woman on earth, just to avenge his mother's death. The sight of women always made him want to kill. That was why he bacame sadistic. He would take pleasure in inflicting pain on women. The more they begged him to spare them the more contended he felt. He didn't know why, but even after torturing lots of women around him, he would always feel that there was an an even more empty void that was yearning to be filled. He would always wonder. Why wouldn't his heart not feel contended no matter how much he tried ? Wasn't vengeance the only thing it wanted? Now that he would always torture women for revenge, why was the void becoming larger and larger instead of shrinking? This was what made him confused the most about life. He always had this feeling of confusion, yet he always chose to to bottle these things into his heart. Yes, he had friends that always had his back, and this was the very reason that made him not wish to burden him with his issues more. He would always think about his friends first before thinking about himself. It killed his two friends when they saw him always bottling his issues and dying with them without any intention of telling them. However, as they were sworn brothers, they would always stick together no matter what. Even if it meant offering each other support silently.

Kai , who was multitasking at the side, thinking about some things while keeping an eye on the doctor who was taking Lomesa's pulse, frowned upon realising that the doctor had taken long to diagnose her. He couldn't take it anymore and questioned;

"What's wrong with her?" Kai asked while facing the doctor. there was a hint of impatience in his voice.

"Uhm sir..err" The doctor looked at Kai and stammered. He didn't know how to say it.

"What? is the condition very serious?" Kai suddenly became anxious when he saw that the doctor was hesitating.

"No sir, Actually, it's that time of the month for her" When the doctor saud this, he was so embarrassed that he didn't dare to meet Kai's fierce gaze.

"What do you mean?" Kai didn't quite understand what the doctor was saying. Why was he talking in parables? How eould Kai be able to tell what exactly was happening to her? He wanted to know her condition first before he knew what step to take next.

"Uhm, her monthly menstrual period is here, sir." Sensing Kai's increasing impatience the more he stalled, The doctor decided to bite the bullet and state it outrightly. After all, from the look of things, it seemed as though Kai wasn't aware of what he was talking about. Infact, he appeared totally clueless when he used the phrase " that time of the month " to describe what ailment she was currently suffering from.

However, hearing what the doctor just said in layman's language, Kai froze for a moment.

Monthly menstrual period?

Wasn't that what he learnt in science?

When he understood the meaning behind the doctor's words, he was so embarrassed that the tips of his ears turned a shade of red. Thankfully , the doctor was too engrossed in studying Lomesa that he didn't know what Kai was thinking on the other hand.

"She suffers from dysmenorrhoea. " The doctor added afyer checking her pulse once again.

Dysmenorrhoea?

Of course Kai knew what that meant. It was that condition where the menstrual periods would be so painful that someone could pass out from excessive pain. So, that was what had happened to this lass a few minutes ago? Kai observed her face for sometime, he was pondering about something, did that mean she would usually suffer from such symptoms ever since she began menstruation? Just how much pain did she have to go through over the years? the more Kai thought about it, the more his heart ached for her.

"Is there a cure for this?" After a few minutes of silence, Kai suddenly raised this question.

"No sir, only painkillers can alleviate the pain but there's no permanent cure for this. Just now, I gave her painkillers so she should be well in a few minutes from now." Since Kai had asked, the doctor decided to go all out and explain. He saw how anxious Kai was just now, so he knew this woman might be someone important in his life.

"Alright, you may leave now." Kai said after thinking for a while.

"Yes sir." The doctor said while packing his things, then he bowed respectfully before leaving the room, just as he was about to close the door, Kai called out to him

"Yes sir?" The doctor looked at Kai and asked in Confusion.

"Call a maid servant on your way out" Kai instructed and went to sit on the coach at the side.

"Yes" the doctor nodded before thoughtfully closing the door behind him in a gentle manner.

Meanwhile, Kai looked at the girl who was sleeping on the bed. Her furrowed brows, which were knitted due to pain, where now easing a little. That could only mean that the doctor's painkillers were very powerful.

A few moments of silence, a knock sounded on the door...
