Chapter 46 Chapter 46
Chapter 46 Chapter 46
Kyla's POV
As we walked further towards the dungeon in silence, I expected to hear an uproar, most especially the usual ruckus that happens in prisons. But surprisingly it was so quiet here.
Everywhere was silent. If a pin dropped we would hear it echo. I sighed softly, and heaved a deep breath as I walked behind him. His leg was taking its full length with every stride. I was almost running after him. He stopped in front of an iron gate.
I looked up to see him staring at me. “Would you wait for me here while I go in and bring her out?” He asked me.
I looked back, the hall was dark and narrow. Something might come if he left me alone. Daciana might come. I wasn't scared of her, but I didn't want anyone to punish me for breaking her neck.
“No, I'm coming with you.”
He nodded and opened the gate, before he grabbed my hand and pulled me inside. The smell of steel hit me. We stopped in the first cell to the sound of a whimpering girl.
I strained my eyes to see, calling her name, “Lily, are you in there?”
Kendrick growled beside me. “Yes, she is. I can see her.”
I looked back at him, barely seeing his face. How could he see her? I thought.
“Kyla, why did you have to bring him here?” She asked, stepping out of the dark. “You'll get into trouble.”
Kendrick picked the key on the wall by the dungeon. “No, she won't.” He opened the dungeon and stepped aside. As Lily came out my eyes watered and I threw my arms around her, pulling her into a hug.
“Let's go, Kyla. There's something I need to show you.”
He grabbed my hand again, we came out and he locked the dungeon. When we got back to the hallway, he made his way to his room, still holding me.
Why was he taking me with him?
I waved to Lily as she walked slowly to the kitchen with her head down. Kendrick took me to his room and locked the door.
“There's something you need to know about me, Kyla.” He ran his hand through his hair. “About us.”
“Us?” I asked, pointing at him and I.
He shook his head. “No. About me, my brother, Danny, my parents—and even Lily and everyone you've seen since you got here.”
I swallowed. “What?”
He balled his fist, then started to take off his shirt slowly. I closed my eyes. “Please stop.”
He sighed. “Open your eyes, I'm not touching you.”
I opened my eyes to see him shirtless and he had taken off his pants. Only his undies were on. I saw his large member bulging out of his undies and I nearly screamed but I threw my hand over my mouth instead.
“I'm not human.” He blurted out.
I blinked. “Then what are you?” I asked almost laughing? “A vampire? Common–”
I went mute when he went on his knees and something strange started to happen. He was shifting to something else. I held my mouth, swallowing my scream when I saw the black wolf in front of me.
Then he shifted back and got up to his feet naked, his undies torn on the floor. He placed his hand over his member.
“I'm a werewolf. We all are.”
My world tilted under my feet as I stared at him with large eyes. “What?”
“Yes, and somehow the moon goddess had chosen you as my mate—my human mate.”
That was it for me. I stepped back slightly and fell on the bed, losing consciousness.
I woke up in the middle of a bush. But there was blinding light in front of me. I looked up, squinting. A ethereally beautiful blonde with flowing dress which seemed weaved in her skin was looking back at me with an ageless smile.
“Who are you?” I asked. She looked familiar. I had seen her once in my dream. The one I had about my mom.
“Kendrick is right. You belong to him,” she said. “You were meant to be, Kyla. This is your destiny.”
“But,” I muttered, shaking my head. “He's something strange. He's not a human. He's dangerous—”
“You are the same as him. Child, you are half wolf, half human. Your werewolf father and human mother casted a spell on you to make you shift late. The time will come when you gain your true power as a hybrid werewolf.”
I shook my head. “No, I'm not a monster.” I cried out as a chill ran up my spine. I turned, running the opposite direction, my hastened bare foot dipped in the cold, wet mud on the forest floor. I had never been out here.
Nightmares haunted me every night but I had never been in such a scary forest.
The air was cold, it was too dark, I could barely see far ahead of me, a dry twig snapped under my foot and I jumped in fear, my hand clamped against my mouth as I muffled my scream.
My eyes were wide, scanning the area, my chest heaving, blood pulsed through my vein and my heart raced in my chest. I was breathing so low, as if I was scared of waking up the shadows.
My eyes pinched shut, forging ahead with more agility than I started with. I needed to get the heck out of here as soon as possible.
“I need to go back home.”
Tears gushed out of my eyes as my insides shook with pain, the sky crackled as though it felt the same way I did.
In a split second, rain started falling, it was so heavy that the strokes were hitting my skin and it made me flinch.
I turned back and the lady was gone. Relief washed through me, but fear increased. The fear of being alone in this forest.
I grabbed the hem of my ankle length dress as I increased my pace and raced down the wood. My dress soaked, clinging to my small frame, my hair was glued to my face and neck, but with every step, I only increased my steps.
The air shifted almost suddenly, fear oozed in the air and I balled my fist as goose bumps filled my skin. I gulped and dropped my head low, scared I would encounter something else as I pushed ahead.
