Chapter 34
Alisha
"Well, that's the gist of it anyway." Park Zixin informs me. He video-dialed me and appeared to be in some sort of board room. Fang Kai is sitting quietly in the corner and seems bored during the debrief of the meeting with the Yaotiáns.
"You mean to tell me I have to marry that man for the sake of peace?" I can even hear the disbelief in my voice.
"The council has decided. We don't want what your father did to repeat. The Yaotiáns are a vast syndicate. We are lucky it was only the Sooyungs that Kyoto was after. Had he approached the Yaotiáns, we would not have been able to partner with him. After the bombing, our deal with Kyoto is done. My family will no longer support him. However, we have no qualms supporting you since you greatly benefitted us." Fang Kai reveals.
"But, they accepted it? Don't they believe I blew up the person you want me to marry?"
"About that, this decision was made before that incident. Do you know if Yin Mu was in touch with anyone else?" Park Zixin interrogates.
"I don't know. Yin Mu's dad is the only one I can think of." Dai informs Park.
"Interesting. I believe Yin Mu somehow found out about it and, in his jealousy, decided to try to eliminate the competition. Do you have all his men in custody?"
"We were too slow to get them all. We only have about 35. The rest disappeared or committed suicide. All of Yin Mu's commanding officers are missing." Again Dai answers.
"Hmm… When I can get you an official meeting, you will need to explain that to your fiancé. I suggest you figure out however much you can. Otherwise, he may hold you accountable. We can only do so much." Fang Kai.
"So, he actually agreed?" I ask for verification.
"He hasn't responded. He did just come out of surgery. We will approach him again in a few days. Right now, Chief Yaotián doesn't want you or your syndicate around his family. I will go to the auction in your stead. Also, where did you get those weapons? The ones that Yin Liu stole?" Fang Kai
"I told Yin Mu to get them from the Sooyung warehouse. He seems to have given them to his father, who tried to sell them."
"No, your weapons were burned in a separate warehouse where they had taken two girls. Just found out that those two girls were the Bu Family twins. Did you intend for them to be taken as well?"
"Who? I only wanted Danielle. Everyone else was supposed to be dropped off in public areas."
"Well, it would appear someone facilitated the kidnapping of the Bu sisters. The girls are fine now. One is already engaged, while the other appears unhitched. I don't know how to tell them without giving too much information to get her out of China, but we will see how things go."
"Is the other party really that dangerous?"
"You should know the answer to that, having first-hand experience with them. Your marriage to Jaidan will give us an upper hand in this. It's in your best interest to try to convince him as well. Meanwhile, we will dig and find out what is going on. I will try to see if I can arrange for you to bring Yin Mu to Jaidan. I will leave first. Zixin, let's go." With that, he switched off the video feed and disconnected the call.
I lean back on my bed pillows and face the tv. The images flashing on the screen, a distraction from the roiling thoughts in my head.
"I don't think you should marry him," DaiYing tells me, concern evident on her face. I just purse my lips and chew my cheek. "He's the head of punishment. He's brutal and heartless. Totally cold and unyielding. He's not a gentleman at all. Then all this stuff circling you, and it looks like you caused the issue. I worry he will do something to you, and I will never see you again."
"Dai, he's not going to kill me. We are partnered with the State Council. If I die, the Alliance will end as they know it."
"Ok, but that doesn't mean he won't hurt you, or I will never see you again."
I use three fingers to massage between my eyebrows. That man is really sexy and, as Dai stated, very dangerous. Recalling the day I first met the man. The day Prince Jaidan and I massacred The Bloody Baron. It's not as though we planned it together, but I could tell he wanted it to be over.
Truthfully, I hadn't expected Prince Jaidan would kill his uncle. It definitely helped me out. Prince Jaidan has got this no-nonsense and detached air about him. He exudes a coldness that I have never felt before. How he looked me up and down when he entered the room instantly made my vagina throb… Still, I never expected him to be my husband.
Like DaiYing mentioned, he's too dangerous. Part of me is excited, while the other part is terrified. Like her, I don't know if I will survive this, but if I am being honest, I don't care as long as my syndicate is safe and protected. I will sacrifice my very pride for my people.
