Chapter 13: Chapter 13
Emma.
Tomorrow we are going back to the royal pack, and I can't help but feel anxious. What if I embarrass him?
The other day I barely survived the fight. Staying in the wilderness will be so tough especially without a wolf to support me.
Also, I have had a peek into Enzo's life and it's not funny. Enzo's world is far more dangerous than anything I have encountered.
If I am not careful, I might even die before the year ends.
Oh fuck! I don't want that.
That's more reason I woke up at six and came to the gym. I need to train harder. I need to beat those bitches and finally put them in their place.
I need to finally stand up for myself as a person. Wolf or not.
I stop hitting the bag after long minutes and take deep breaths. Damn, it's harder than I thought.
"This is my private gym," his voice sounds behind me, and I hold in a groan. Of course it is. No wonder no one is here.
I grab a bottle of water and take a couple of gulps.
"Sorry," I mutter and turn around to leave because right now, I can use that bed. I hope Enzo won't disturb me in any way today.
"Fight me," Enzo says, and for the first time, I look his way and damn, tsk.
I have always crushed on Seb and admired everything about him. But staring at this man, I don't feel bad to say that Seb still has a lot of work out to do. He simply doesn't stand a chance.
Enzo is the definition of raw masculinity. Strong arms and hard muscled chest and well defined six packs. A V-line is trailing down his pants, and oof!, he's hot.
Why doesn't he have a shirt on? Maybe it's men's thing to display their muscles like this.
"Are you serious?" I quickly shake my head to will away the bad thoughts emerging in my head. I know he will crush me. "You know I can't..."
"Show me what you got" the man says and walks to me. Why is my heart suddenly speeding up? His eyes remain on mine and I can't look away.
He's strong. Damn, solid.
I hate that he makes me nervous. I should never allow a man like Enzo to invade my thoughts because he's impossible to have.
I couldn't have Seb, Enzo won't even look at me like that.
"Distraction will cost you," Enzo grumbles, and I find myself falling, but he holds me before I can hit the ground.
Goddess! he just kicked me. But why am I lying on top of his body? Did he drop to shield me from touching the ground?
Fuck.
My body slightly shivers when my clammy palms touch his chest. It's so hard and strangely soft to touch.
Goddess! I have no idea what is happening to me at all.
Get the fuck up. I tell myself but I can't help but trace the cursive words on his chest. Right where his heart is wildly beating. 'Omerta'
Enzo.
"Sorry for the interruption," I growl at his voice, and just like that, the girl regains her senses and quickly gets up from me.
"Nikolai is here," Hunter reports, and I silently nod. His eyes linger on Bella and I groan in displeasure.
Something is happening with me. I am becoming weak for her and it's dangerous. It's a risk I am not willing to take.
I don't know why I keep thinking about her. I feel this urge to be closer to her every damn time. Fuck, her body is soft and she looks so fragile. Don't mention her soft addictive scent.
It must be my wolf's doing. But why her?
"What are you doing here this early?"
"Is that how you talk to your best friend?" I pull a chair to the dining table and my eyes unconsciously shift to the kitchen
What is Hunter still doing here? Didn't I give him enough work to do?
"Is she the one?" Nikolai asks, and I hum in response. "Damn," he murmurs and chuckles. "Aren't you in trouble. I had a different picture in mind though"
"Yeah? Which one?"
"Someone, older. I don't know. Lucinda's type"
"Yeah. It would have been easier, " I mumble, grabbing a cigar. If she were bitchy, or maybe someone with a loud mouth, I wouldn't be this bothered.
But that girl makes my heart skip just looking into her innocent eyes. Damn, I hate those eyes. She gives you the urge to protect her.
"Are you going to introduce us?" Nikolai smirks, and I groan. He has been my friend all my life and I trust him. But she hates me. Does she even want to know my friends?
"Bella," I call, and her eyes instantly find mine. The girl whispers something to Hunter and walks to us. "We have a guest," I point at Niko, and she offers him a polite smile.
"He is my best friend, Nikolai. This is Bella my wife"
"So you have a friend?" She says and laughs softly. Fuck, I love her laugh.
"Why is that?" Niko asks and her smile widens.
"He is always grumpy and hates people," she laughs, and Nik chuckles. "Nice to meet you, Nikolai. Do you need a drink or something?"
"Yes, please. Black coffee will do"
"You too, right?" she turns to me with the same smile and I nod. I can't believe that is her description of me.
Grumpy and hates people.
"She's nice. Your beta seems idle?" Nikolai gestures at the kitchen as I groan again. Hunter is looking for trouble. Why did he recommend a girl he likes to be my wife?
He must have done that to save her. Is he waiting for the contract to expire so he can claim her?
"Yeah, he always finds an excuse to come here"
"I am sorry man. He stares at her like she's his next meal. " Nikolai chuckles and I know he is doing this to get a reaction from me.
"What brought you here anyway? Aren't you at the camp already?"
"I will go tomorrow. Honestly, though, do you think we should continue with the election?"
"Yeah. Power is good, " I shrug and watch as Bella places two mugs on the table.
"Thank you, Bella "
"She can't shift" I mumble when the girl walks away. "I need an antidote to the poison she's been taking to repress her wolf. Also, I want her to be comfortable at the camp"
"Do you want to tell me something?"
"It's a long story. Just get me a doctor and make sure whatever she needs is readily available "
"I still don't get why you are doing this, Enzo. You are the royal pack's beta and staying in the wilderness shit is ..."
"Learn to follow instructions," I grumble and he raises his hand in a mock surrender.
"Okay, whatever you say. You are acting weird, though," Nikolai says, and my fists instantly clench when I follow the direction of his sight.
