Chapter 29

I stride down the stairs with a specific purpose in mind. A very important purpose. One that can make or break any situation. With my head held high, I trudge down the stairs, only to pause for a second and smile at the rummaging ensuing from the very direction I am heading in. Heading into the kitchen, I see Damien immediately turn around at my approach. "Food?" We both ask at the same time. We both pause at each other's words. "You cook, ever since you came here since the last few weeks." He states as if I didn't know this. I roll my eyes at him. "Yes but that was before I knew you could cook." I state back at him, getting slightly annoyed at the way he's wording his statements. Damien raises an immaculate eyebrow, as if to taunt me. What exactly is he getting at? "Yes," He grinds out as if his point isnt being made, "But you still cook, here, for the both of us." Damien clarifies. I scowl at him, my lips thining into a straight pale line, "Are you being sexist?" I his out to him as I take a threatening step forward, "Are you saying its my job?" Damiens eyes momentarily widen at my words before he narrows them, "Don't turn this around and twist my words." He scowls. I roll my eyes as I let out a childish huff, walking past him and purposely brushing my shoulder against his. Heading over to the fridge, I open it as I let out a reluctant sigh. Unfortunately for me, I'm a picky eater even when I cook. Damien steps in behind me as he gazes at me momentarily. I raise a brow at him in question causing him to shake his head at me. "What are we making?" He asks me as he himself bends down to grab a few items. "We?" I ask in amusement as he nods, already making his way over to the counter. I take in all of the ingredients he's gotten and get the gist of what he's going to make. Bending down into the fridge to grab a few items of my own. "Mmm, it'll even be good bonding time for the both of us." I comment as I straighten myself out. "Bonding time? I'd think we have had more bonding time than most would have." Damien answers, the amusement perfectly clear in his voice. My eyes widen and I momentarily freeze before resuming my actions. He definitely doesn't mean what I think he means. Does he? I don't even look in his direction as I step in the opposite direction, placing all the ingredients before me, taking my place next to the stove. For some reason, I glance over my shoulder to see him looking back at me with a devious look on his face. I hurriedly turn around to preoccupy myself with my task. "I thought we both agreed that it was a one time thing." I mean we both never talked about that night after it happened. It was like it never happened. What else am I supposed to think? I'm too busy and only notice when his shadow looms over mine to see him standing right behind me. "We did?" He mumbles as he leans down to my height, "I don't seem to remember agreeing to that." I gulp as I try to carelessly shrug. "Well, I just thought." I mumble. "You thought wrong didn't you." Damien whispers as his lips near my ear. I shift slightly, every fiber of my body aching to be pressed up against his solid muscular chest. Why am I having such unholy thoughts? Shut up Serena. Get away. My brain screams at me but the rest of my body doesn't seem to think the same way. What harm could come of it right? It's nothing anything serious. "Hmm Serena?" He mumbles. I ignore him and continue to focus on the vegetable I'm peeling. I might cut myself, I think worriedly, still ignoring Damien. Flipping the stove on, grabbing the frying pan, I place it on the stove. Damien immediately turns me around while simultaneously turning the stove off. "You shouldn't be playing with fire. You could get hurt." Damien mumbles as he pushes a wild strand of hair back from my face. "How do you think I cooked the last few times?" I ask sarcastically. At my tone, he rolls his eyes. Damien leans in, still not touching me as he places a small kiss to right below my ear, "I never agreed on anything," Damien continues, "Maybe I can change your mind as well." He whispers into my ear. Small shivers run down my back but I try not to let it show how much he affects me. "The food." I get out lamely, "We were supposed to cook." I gasp out. Damien leans into me, bending down to my height as he lets out a deep husky laugh, "I'm more preoccupied, if you can't tell." He murmurs as he places small kisses from just below my ear to my jaw and then neck. I place my shaky hands on Damien's chest but then hurriedly remove them. Damien gently strokes the side of my face with one hand, while the other wraps around me and rubs the small exposed skin of my back. I look up to see that smug smirk on his face, just as I'm about to retort back, Damien pushes me into him. Each and every part of our bodies pressed up against one another. "What about the food?" I manage to voice out once again, voice trembling. I can feel Damien's smirk pressed to my neck. "We can order take out." He murmurs simply. I nod my head–as much as I can– but still need to say something to get my mix out of its delirious state. "What are we eating?" Damien lets out another chuckle at my words, sensing my nerves as well as evasiveness. "I already know what I'll be eating," he mumbles as he gently bites onto my skin, "I'm sure you'll find something to your taste as well." I tilt my head back in confusion, not quite understanding his words. Looking at Damien, I can see that devilish smirk plastered on his face. Tilting my head to the side, eyes hooded only for them to widen as my brain finally realises his innuendo. My face flames bright red as I catch his words only causing his smirk to widen. I drop my head, avoiding his gaze as I stand there in shock. Damien presses me closer to him, lifting my head up by my chin. Seeing my still flushed cheeks Damien's lips drop and then form into a tentative smile. Smiling at my appearance, he rubs his thumbs on my flushed cheeks. "Adorable." He mumbles. My eyes widen as I stare at Damien incredulously. Did he just call me adorable? My cheeks flush deeper causing him to smile further before leaning in. I gulp in anticipation. Those same nerves making an appearance as I start to slowly tremble. It's like the first time all over again. However this time, Damien is the initiator. I lift myself on the tips of my toes as he bends down, our lips pressing together. Soft and yet rough at the same time, the both of us lunging for one another with a renewed fervour. I wrap my hands in Damien's hair, tugging at it gently as he groans into my mouth with approval, his hold on my waist tightening to an almost painful extent which only makes me feel more attentive to his touch. Lips intertwined, I can feel him smirk up against me. Letting my tongue dart out, I tug at his hair once more causing him to groan. At my newfound opportunity, I let my tongue dart into his mouth. Damien's entire demeanour changes. From soft and gentle– it's like a switch has flipped– and he groans into my mouth. His hands trail down my back, grazing my entire form. My eyes widen as his hands reach a particular area before trailing forward to grab my thighs. "Jump." He growls out. I hesitate a bit as I pull back. Damien's eyebrows furrow as he tilts his head to the side, my hands still interlocked in his hair. "Jump." He orders, a breathless command. "I'll be too heavy." I blurt out. I internally cringe at the look of surprise on his face. Damien smirks as he pulls me closer to him once more, bending down slightly as he lifts me up. A surprised squeal erupts from my mouth causing Damien to let out a short laugh. "You're full of surprises." Damien murmurs against my lips as I feel him turn around, still carrying me. The cool feel of the marble counter greets me as I respond to his gentle squeezes and kisses. Parting for air, I lean my forehead against his. "Is that a good thing?" I mumble. My nose brushes against his which further causes me to purposely nudge mine against his. Damien responds with his own light nudge back, as he nods. Blue stormy eyes stare back into mine as he murmurs. "Very." And with that he leans down to kiss me some more.
