Murphy got to his room, feeling the weight of exhaustion and grief dragging him down. He had hours following leads, searching for any clue that would help him understand who had killed his father. The alcohol he took to ease his pain only dulled his senses slightly but something in the air felt wrong. His system instincts, sharper than ever since his father's death tingled.
There was a presence and he could feel it, his heart began to race in his chest as his eyes moved around the room. Despite his drunk state, his instincts were telling him that danger was near. Slowly, Murphy approached hai window, he opened the window slowly and peered out into the darkened street.
At first, everything was normal and the night was quiet except for the rustling sound of leaves or a car horn. But suddenly a movement caught Murphy's eye. His gaze sharpened and on the rooftop of a building some distance away he saw a figure in darkness, watching him.
Murphy's breath was lost as the figure was almost indistinguishable from the night but the way it stood there motionless, staring directly at him sent shivers down his spine. This was no ordinary person. It has to be the killer or someone connected to the killer.
Without a second thought, Murphy's drunken eyes cleared and was replaced by adrenaline. He couldn't let this figure slip away. Whoever it was, they had answers. They had to be involved in his father's death.
With lightning fast reflexes, Murphy dash out of the house and onto the street, his super speed activating almost instinctively. The ground blurred beneath his feet as he raced towards the building where the shadow figure had stood. But as Murphy approached, the figure jumped from the rooftop in one swift motion, landing effortlessly on the next building in an extraordinary way.
Murphy's eyes widened, whoever this person was, they weren't normal. They were using extraordinary powers just like him. But that only fueled his determination. He pushed harder, his speed increasing as he pursued the figure through the night.
The chase began, the figure jumped across rooftops with agility that defied logic, with each jump was from impossible distances.
Yet Murphy kept up, his legs pumping faster as he closed the gap. He knew that if he hesitated for even a second, they would disappear into the night, just like "THE SHADOW" had after every murder.
Murphy moved through the buildings, as the wind was moving past him as he kept running. The figure glanced back for a brief moment and Murphy caught a glimpse of something, a flash of eyes glowing faintly in the dark, cold and calculating. This was no ordinary assassin.
But whoever that was, they weren't invincible. The figure was fast, but Murphy's system super speed was just as formidable. With each step, he closed the distance and his heart was beating in his chest as determination surged through him.
Suddenly, the figure made a mysterious turn, running down an alleyway and disappearing into the shadows. Murphy followed without hesitation but his senses were on high alert as he moved through the darkness after them. The narrow alley was lined with towering walls and streetlights, casting long shadows that made it hard to track the figure.
But Murphy didn't stop, his eyes scanned the shadows, searching for any sign of movement or any flicker of light that would give away the figure's position. Murphy's breath became heavy but he kept going and was determined to catch whoever it was.
Then out of a corner, he saw a flash of movement. The figure moves towards a narrow passage at the end of the alley with super speed. Murphy sprinted after it with his muscles burning as he gave everything he had to catch up. But just as he turned the corner, the figure disappeared into the night, and vanished as if it had never been there.
Murphy halted his running, his was heavy as he searched the empty street in front of him it was quiet, too quiet. The figure has slipped away, leaving no trace behind.
Frustration filled Murphy as he stood there, he clenched his fist tightly. He had been so close. Whoever that was, they had extraordinary powers just like him but they were clearly more experienced than him.
Murphy stared into the darkness, his mind racing. Whoever the figure was, they knew he was on their trail. This wasn't over, not by a long shot. They had watched him and they had led him on a chase but next time Murphy would be ready.
This was no longer just about revenge, it was about survival. The hunt for "THE SHADOW" had taken a new and dangerous turn, and Murphy was more determined than ever to uncover the truth behind his father's death. He knew now that he wasn't dealing with just a killer, he was facing something far more powerful and far more deadly.
Murphy stood in the cold, quiet streets z the chase had ended and the figure had disappeared into the darkness, leaving Murphy on the edge. His senses were still heightened as he scanned his surroundings, searching for any clue that might reveal who or what this figure was.
But the streets were empty, and just as he turned to leave, a sharp pain struck him in his lower back. A sensation shot through his body and Murphy let out a yell of agony. He stumbled forward, his hand instinctively reaching behind him to find the source of the pain. When he pulled his hand away, it was covered in blood. He had been stabbed, Murphy's vision blurred slightly and his body was shivering as he tried to make sense of what had just happened.
His heart began to race, but before he could turn around, he felt a presence, a cold, dark presence, right behind him.
"You're lucky you're not on my list. But surely, your time will come" A dark voice whispered in his ear, sending chills down Murphy's spine.
