Chapter 52: Consequences

Davids POV

We arrived at the garage where the fights are held. All the council was there. I knew there would be consequences for my actions. Even if they deserved it. Whether the consequences were good or bad. I would gladly accept them because of Kara. She was dragged into this. She had not joined this of her own free will. She got wrapped up in this because she followed me into this shit hole. We got out of the car and headed towards the meeting room. As we walked, the council members were seated at the table. They were dressed in ceremonial robes. This was not good. That meant I would be forced to fight in a ceremonial setting. I had no doubt that I was going to win; however, were they going to make Kara watch? They have done that in the past. However, that person did not win.

I watched his girl fall apart, then she killed herself to be with him forever in the afterlife. That was common practice. However, Kara did not know anything about ceremonial fights or traditions. I had no idea what was going on. I did not like it.

" Good evening, gentlemen."

" What is going on?"

" Have her wait outside with Marcus."

I could tell that she did not want to leave. However, I knew that since they said she needed to leave, then she needed to.

" Marcus, please take her home, and I will be there after the meeting. "

" Yes, sir."

I watched as she walked out of the building. She turned around just as the door was closing.

"Gentlemen, what is going on?"

" David, we know that you are justified in what you did to Whitney, and her boyfriend did."

" However, you have been challenged to ceremonial combat by Whitney's father, Gavin."

Great, that's just great. Gavin had never lost a fight a day in his life. I knew that I would have to train hard, and so would Kara.

" Also, his second daughter, Alexis, has challenged Kara in Whitney's place."

" Gentlemen, forgive me."

" Kara is training; however, she is still a novice."

"Alexis is much better than she is."

" We will give you six months to train."

"Then Kara will fight her first, then you."

I was not happy about it. I knew that it was going to be a hard road ahead of us. We would have to train as much as possible. I stormed out of the office and started to run. How on earth can they do that to me? Gavin was the most dangerous person I knew. If Whitney resorts to beating Kara away from the fight, then what would Gavin do to ensure that Alexis won her fight? It was no surprise that Whitney had tried the stunts that she had. It was one of the most dangerous things in the world. Underground street fighting. People get killed at those things. If you lost a ceremonial fight, you would lose everything and be shamed by the community. I hated this shit.

If we left, then we would be branded cowards. I turned around and went back to the council. I knocked on the door.

" Enter."

" I have a request."

" Yes."

" Can Kara and I train away from here because of the danger of getting attacked by Gavin and his henchmen?"

" Yes, you can."

I then turned around and left the building again. That was good news, which meant that we could train at the cabin in the mountains that we would have to hike to. It was not well known. There were no trails to it. You only knew it was there if you had built it. I had built it years ago. I have been going up there to train for years now. We will get married at the courthouse, then we will go up there. I decided to walk home because it was easier than calling Marcus to pick me up. I needed to blow off some steam. How was I going to tell Kara that we were getting married in a courthouse for now? Then, depending on the outcome of the fight, we will have a wedding. She had just gotten out of the hospital after being beaten up in her home. Her mother hated me already. She was OK with me because I had money.

It would go to Kara, the heir to the computer company, if anything happened to me. They would be set for life; they would not have to worry about money or anything like that for a very long time. Now I have to tell both of them that we have to fight in the match. I had hoped that the council would have just let it be. However, I never figured Gavin into the equation. I thought he was dealing with his dojo and had left his daughter to face the consequences. I was wrong. I knew the style that Alexia fights with. She is very fast, and I knew that Kara was fast as well. Kara is much smaller than Alexis. She could maneuver her.

Alexis hits hard. I need to get Kara to lift weights as she trains as well. She needs to build her muscles. It was difficult for me to have to break this news to them. I finally reached the house. It was two o'clock in the morning. I sat on the porch for a while. I was looking up at the stars when Marcus came outside.

" What happened, boss?"

I explained to him what had happened. All the color drained from his face. He knows how violent and dangerous Gavin is.

" I need you to go up to the cabin and get it ready."

" Yes, boss."

I knew he would leave first thing in the morning. He would hire a couple of maids and a cook, and make sure the gym was ready for us to use. We would be in the gym a lot. I also had a hot tub, a pool, and a sex room there as well. I have never taken any of my submissive there before. I was afraid that they would think that they were going to die after we had sex. I did not want to scare them.
