Chapter 240
"It was me."
Mimicking Christopher's tone and manner, Parker looked at her coldly, which made Philly furious. She gritted her teeth and said, "Christopher, you dare to launch a sneak attack?"
Christopher said nothing.
Philly furiously redirected her attack toward Christopher, but was blocked by Olivia, who flashed in front of him. She glanced sideways at Christopher beside her, a trace of worry flickering in her eyes.
Parker still resided inside Christopher's body. She had clearly told him to just wait below, wait for her to kill Philly, and then they could get the Flame of Sincerity, take the Fire Element Blood Ruby, and expel Parker from his body.
But he still took the risk to come up and help her.
The Philly before them was like a mad dog that bites, chasing after Olivia and Christopher relentlessly, completely losing her usual calm and gentleness, her eyes red with killing intent.
Seeing this, Olivia shielded Christopher behind her and shouted at him, "Christopher, take the Flame of Sincerity and go quickly, get the village chief to purify it and refine it."
Christopher nodded at her, then thought for a moment and added, "Then I'll go first. Be careful."
After speaking, he flew toward the ground without any hesitation, completely ignoring Philly who was attacking Olivia right in front of her.
Olivia stared at Christopher's retreating figure for a second, then caught Philly's full-force sword strike with her bare hands.
Watching Christopher leave without hesitation, she suddenly burst out laughing, "Olivia, oh Olivia, for all your cleverness, you're having a foolish moment too."
Olivia frowned, a vague sense of unease suddenly rising in her heart, "What do you mean?"
"What else could I mean?"
Philly seemed to have grasped victory and started gloating prematurely, grinning as she said, "Don't you think Christopher just now was a bit strange?"
She looked around, feeling even more confident, "Oh, and Hestia who was beside me—aren't you curious where she went just now?"
Olivia's heart sank. The thing she least wanted to see had happened. She said in a low voice, "You sent Hestia to target Christopher?"
Seeing her resolve waver, Philly laughed even more wildly, "I'm afraid Parker inside Christopher has already awakened. He's our ally. Do you think he'll help you purify the Flame of Sincerity after taking it?"
Olivia gave her a cold look and attacked with her sword, "Cut the crap. Even if Christopher is briefly controlled by Parker, with his abilities he would never be controlled by anyone."
"Christopher's abilities aren't small, but compared to Parker, he's still too inexperienced." Philly's eyes curved up with a cunning arrogance, "Why don't you go stop him now and kill him? Otherwise, the Fire Element Blood Ruby you've been longing for will fall into someone else's hands."
Before she finished speaking, Renata and Royal's voices came from nearby, "Ms. Smith, leave the altar to us. You focus on dealing with Philly!"
With them there, Olivia's wavering resolve became firm again. The sword she wielded was much sharper than before, and Philly couldn't quite block it. Her face darkened.
Watching Olivia's killing intent grow stronger, Philly gritted her teeth and deliberately said, "Olivia, those two useless people Renata and Royal can't stop Parker at all."
"I trust them, and I trust Christopher."
Olivia's eyes remained as determined as ever, "He won't give anyone a chance to take advantage."
With that, the two clashed again, countless flashes of lightning and thunder crossing the sky. Below at the altar, Parker, holding the fresh Flame of Sincerity, found Hank and the others.
"Hank, purify this Flame of Sincerity."
As he spoke, he stared closely at his surroundings, alert to any movement.
Hank didn't suspect anything and took the Flame of Sincerity to refine it on the altar. After being tempered by fire, the Flame of Sincerity slowly returned to its bright orange color.
"It's done, it's done, purification complete!"
Seeing the Flame of Sincerity return to normal, Hank was incredibly excited and turned to look at Christopher.
Christopher said nothing, reached out to take back the Flame of Sincerity, and thrust it into Felicity's body next to Isaiah. This rough and crude method stunned Renata and Royal who had just caught up.
"Is this still Christopher?"
At this moment, Royal felt the Christopher before him was too unfamiliar. The Christopher he knew, though cold to women other than Olivia, was definitely not heartless.
Forcing the Flame of Sincerity into Felicity's body like this—her body wouldn't be able to handle it.
Renata also felt something was off, but the urgent matter was to first protect Felicity's heart and help her properly absorb the Flame of Sincerity.
One of them landed in front of Felicity, the other in front of Christopher.
Royal looked at Christopher who was so close, his brow furrowing even tighter. He couldn't help but scold, "Christopher, do you know you could kill her doing this?"
Parker looked at the two annoying people before him, stunned for a moment before remembering that humans were fragile—that woman just now couldn't withstand his strike.
He let out a breath and, facing Royal's suspicious gaze, slowly said, "Sorry, I was just a bit anxious, wanting to help Olivia get the Fire Element Blood Ruby as quickly as possible."
This explanation was quite sincere.
Royal also knew Christopher's thoughts were always on Olivia, so he assumed he was anxious to help her solve the problem and had panicked in his haste.
He dismissed his doubts and glared at him, "We've got things here for now. Why aren't you going to help Olivia?"
"I can't go."
Facing Royal before him, a deep displeasure flashed in Parker's eyes. This person must be tired of living to dare speak to him like this.
But to avoid suspicion, he could only reluctantly pretend to be Christopher and say calmly, "Just now Hestia tried to inject Soul Manipulation into my body, attempting to forcibly awaken Parker. I noticed and killed her, but killing her isn't enough—there will be another Hestia. So I must stay here and absolutely cannot let anyone destroy the altar or take the Flame of Sincerity."
He spoke so convincingly that both Renata and Royal believed him. They had just been fighting Hestia, and before they could finish, she disappeared. Turns out she had run off to cause trouble for Christopher.
Royal nodded, "You're right. We must help Olivia guard the altar and not give anyone an opportunity!"
Having convinced the two fools, Parker's lips curved into an imperceptible smile as he watched Renata help Felicity absorb the Flame of Sincerity.
Under several pairs of watching eyes, Felicity slowly regained consciousness.
Before she could speak, Christopher stepped forward and urged, "Hurry and come with me to the center of the altar."
There was some urgency in his voice. Felicity almost instinctively stood up. Although she felt a bit dizzy, seeing Christopher's cold face, she didn't dare say much.
Fortunately, Isaiah beside her was quick to support her, saying somewhat dissatisfied, "Can't you wait? Felicity just recovered."
Christopher's sharp eyes swept over him, saying word by word, "She can wait, Olivia cannot."
