Chapter 132
Adelaide looked over at Frank. He'd been standing there quietly since earlier, not saying a word.
She asked, "What are you going to do?"
Those dozen or so bodies were no small matter. Once this got out, it would have a huge negative impact on the Starship Group's image.
When normal construction projects dig up bodies or other things, they report it to the relevant authorities.
But Frank and his team hadn't done any reporting. Even if they tried to fix the paperwork now, it would be too late.
Frank's communicator in his pocket buzzed.
He took it out and looked. It was a message from Quinn. She said besides Adams's recent contact records, there was some more interesting stuff—enough to prove Adams was corrupt and taking bribes.
After reading the message, he didn't open the attached files. He just smiled slightly.
"It's fine. Leave this to me. I have a way to handle it."
Adelaide wanted to say more, but Isla shook her head at her.
Isla said gently, "Don't worry. He wouldn't take this on unless he was sure he could handle it. I'll take you to rest."
Adelaide nodded reluctantly and said nothing more.
The first thing Frank did when he got back to his office was call Adams on the communicator.
Adams's face still looked bad, but he forced a smile. "Mr. Moore, what can I do for you?"
Frank didn't care about his mood. "A dozen bodies were dug up at the orphanage site. Help me handle the paperwork."
The voice on the other end paused, then said, "Mr. Moore, you can report this directly to the police."
Frank laughed coldly. "Don't play dumb with me. I'm coming to you because I need you to backdate the paperwork a few days."
At those words, Adams drew in a sharp breath. "Mr. Moore, that's against the rules. This..."
Frank narrowed his eyes. How cunning—using the rules to shut him up now?
Too bad Frank wasn't the only one who broke the rules.
Frank cut him off. "Does taking bribes count as breaking the rules?"
After saying that, he stopped talking, and the other end went quiet too.
He set the communicator aside and casually opened a file.
He hadn't read more than a few lines when Adams's rough voice came through.
"Fine. I'll help with this."
Frank hung up and focused on the document in his hand.
Half an hour later, Noah sent a message. After reading it, Frank couldn't help but laugh.
The Sarris family really had no patience—they'd found Noah this fast.
He sent Noah a reply. Two minutes later, an internal call was transferred to him.
"Frank, is Subject Seventeen really that important to you? Why can't you give her back to us?"
The person on the other end was extremely agitated.
"What use do you have for a handful of ashes?"
After Frank said this, the sound of something breaking came from the other end.
"How did she die?" The voice on the other end turned darker.
After Frank told the truth, he hung up.
Early the next morning, Frank saw the Starship Group's name in the news.
Noah also sent a message saying the stock market would likely be volatile today.
Frank's eyes turned, and he first told Noah to ignore the news and just continue with normal work.
Then he pushed Adams again, got a series of receipt forms from him, and smiled with satisfaction.
With these things, he could completely sue the Sarris family for defamation.
When the market closed, Frank had Noah calculate the evaporated market value of the group and compile it into a file for him.
Then he handed this file and those receipt forms to the legal team.
He looked at the lead lawyer. "Marcus, I'm leaving this to you. I want you to sue the Sarris family for defamation, damaging business reputation, and causing trouble."
Marcus took the files, his eyes firm. "Yes, boss. I'll definitely complete the task you've given me."
Frank planned to sit back and watch the show for the next while.
And right then, Milo came to see him.
Frank looked at Milo on the sofa and frowned slightly. "You're thinner than last time? Haven't you been eating properly?"
Milo's fingers lightly tugged at the hem of his shirt, and he bit his lip. "I can't eat..."
Frank leaned back against the sofa. "Are you sick or is it psychological? If it's psychological, you should see a therapist, not come to me."
He didn't think he could help Milo with his problems.
"Aurora came to see me." Milo lowered his head, not daring to look at Frank.
Frank was stunned when he heard this. He thought back to what Quinn had recently reported to him and said, confused, "Haven't you two not met recently?"
As soon as he said that, he thought of something. "She contacted you through special channels again?"
Milo nodded slightly. He closed his eyes and said everything Aurora had told him in one breath.
After hearing it, Frank laughed in anger. "Why didn't you tell me about this sooner?"
He hadn't expected Milo would hide something like this.
Milo had to explain, "Aurora told me to. She said to come to you later, to watch your reaction and decide for myself whether to tell you this news."
Frank's eyes showed helplessness. He hadn't expected that in her final moments, Aurora would drive a wedge between Milo and them.
Maybe in Aurora's eyes, only Milo could be considered one of her own.
They looked at Aurora as an outsider, but didn't Aurora see them the same way?
"Alright, from now on, report things like this earlier. Don't carry such big things around in your head. I got it. Go on back now."
Seeing he wasn't angry, Milo completely relaxed, ran in small steps to the office door, grabbed Quinn's hand, and kept walking out.
The office had good soundproofing, so Quinn hadn't heard clearly what the two of them talked about, but seeing Milo's expression, she knew the conversation went well.
Frank sent a message to the mercenary team—a location. He told them to go to this location and find something.
In the message, he stressed how important this thing was. Even if they had to turn the whole place upside down and dig three feet into the ground, they had to find it.
The mercenary team quickly replied, saying they'd leave immediately.
After Frank put down the communicator, he slid down a bit and sank into the sofa.
He was getting more and more clues now. Some leads had gone cold, and some had led to what he wanted.
He was getting closer and closer to that mystery, closer to the Saints Organization, but also more and more confused.
Who exactly was running the entire Saints Organization?
If someone like that had gone down the right path, they should have been a brilliant figure, but instead...
He sat up straight, picked up the communicator, and sent another message to Noah.
