Chapter 747: A Good Deed
After jotting down the address, Alex rushed toward the location without delay. On the way, he debated whether to inform Andrew and Rosalind but decided to wait until the matter was confirmed. He wanted to verify the truth before saying anything.
While Alex was heading to the riverside, Andrew and Rosalind had already arrived outside Adrian's estate. Initially, they believed Anna and Adrian were still at the Springhaven Estate villa and went to the wrong place. After realizing their mistake, the two tried contacting Anna but couldn't reach her.
Determined, Andrew asked around and even set aside his pride to question Jasper. The location they now stood at was the one Jasper had provided. Outside the estate, they explained their urgent matter to the bodyguards stationed at the entrance.
"We're here to see Anna. It's extremely important," Andrew said.
The bodyguards, unable to make decisions on their own, promised only to relay the message. They wouldn't disclose Anna's absence without permission. One of them went inside to inform Will of the situation.
At the hospital, Will relayed the message to Adrian. Upon hearing that two members of the Hayes family had come looking for Anna, Adrian frowned.
"Did they say why they're here?" Adrian asked.
The Hayes family had promised not to bother Anna again. How long had it been since that promise? And now they were already going back on their word?
Will shook his head. "They only said it was urgent."
"Let them wait," Adrian replied curtly before heading back inside.
Anna noticed Adrian returning and asked, "Did something happen?"
They had been reviewing the results of her ultrasound together when Will had interrupted. Adrian glanced at Anna and asked, "Are you still feeling unwell?"
Seeing his concern, Anna smiled and shook her head. She had felt fatigued and sluggish in the past few days, but after learning about the baby growing inside her, her mood had lifted significantly. Even though she might still experience nausea later, her current happiness outweighed the discomfort.
The baby was still small, but Anna had already started looking forward to its arrival.
Adrian couldn't help but pull her into his arms as he saw the gentle smile on her face. If it were possible, he didn't want the Hayes family's matters to disturb her. But he also couldn't keep this from her.
Adrian hesitated, unsure whether to tell Anna about the Hayes family's visit now or wait until they returned home.
Sensing his unease, Anna asked, "Did something happen?"
Adrian sighed and shook his head. "Nothing serious. Rosalind and Andrew are at the estate looking for you."
Adrian referred to them by name, as Anna had severed ties with the Hayes family long ago. To him, Rosalind and Andrew were no longer Anna's family and therefore unworthy of his consideration.
At the mention of the Hayes family, Anna instinctively frowned. Like Adrian, she felt they had no reason to disturb her. She didn't see them as shameless people, so their decision to break their promise and find her left her puzzled and displeased.
What could they want this time? Was it about Benjamin again?
The first thought that crossed Anna's mind was Benjamin. Although she had saved him last time, his condition had remained critical. It was entirely possible that the Hayes family had come seeking her help once more.
She had warned them before that if anything happened to Benjamin again, there would be nothing she could do. If they cared so much about him, why hadn't they protected him properly?
The Hayes family's behavior baffled her. However, the thought that they might be seeking her help once again made it hard for her to ignore. On one hand, she didn't want to compromise her principles. On the other, her compassion as a doctor made her reluctant to turn a blind eye.
Conflicted, Anna asked Adrian, "Where are they?"
Adrian noticed the change in her expression. He could guess the Hayes family's intentions and understood Anna's dilemma. Seeing her hesitation, he sighed and replied, "They're at the entrance."
He had instructed the staff not to let them in. Since they weren't at home and the visitors were unwelcome, there was no reason to entertain them. Besides, if the Hayes family claimed they had an urgent matter, making them wait seemed fitting.
Anna looked at Adrian and said, "They're probably here because of Benjamin."
She knew Adrian supported her but still felt the need to explain herself. Adrian nodded and regretted not having someone keep a closer eye on the Hayes family. What were they up to now? Had something else happened to Benjamin?
"I'll have someone look into Benjamin's condition," Adrian said immediately. If Anna needed to deal with the Hayes family, she shouldn't approach it without knowing the situation first.
Anna felt a warm sense of gratitude. "Thank you."
She was still debating whether to meet the Hayes family, but with Adrian's support, she felt confident that she could handle them if necessary.
"Let them come to the hospital," Anna finally said. If nothing else, it would be a good deed. She wanted to hear what the Hayes family sought this time.
Her checkup wasn't finished yet, and no matter what the Hayes family needed, her baby came first. To her, the baby she shared with Adrian was far more important than anything involving the Hayes family.
Adrian instructed Will to handle the arrangements.
Outside the estate, Rosalind and Andrew finally saw the bodyguard return. Andrew hurriedly asked if Anna was willing to see them. The bodyguard gave them the address of the city hospital and told them to go there.
Hearing this, Andrew's face lit up. "Anna's at the hospital? Could she already be helping Benjamin?"
Rosalind, standing nearby, grew excited at the possibility. However, the bodyguard remained expressionless as he explained, "The lady isn't feeling well and went to the hospital for a checkup."
Unaware of Anna's pregnancy, the bodyguards only knew that a doctor had come to see her earlier and that a group had then gone to the hospital.
Andrew and Rosalind's enthusiasm instantly cooled. It made sense-Anna couldn't possibly know about Benjamin's condition yet. Her presence at the hospital was purely coincidental.
Still, the coincidence gave them hope. Anna was already at Benjamin's hospital. How could she refuse to help when she was so close?
