Chapter 108: Osprey's Aura
When we got home, I was happy to see that Scarlett and Elena had already made it here. I was pissed that they had locked themselves in her room. Godric wanted me to break the door down and make her talk to us. We needed to explain that we were only trying to protect her. We weren’t trying to hurt her, but I had forced us to walk away. If she needed space, I would give her space. I went to my room to gather an extra pair of clothes before storming back downstairs to my father’s office. I didn’t even bother knocking as I walked in. My mother looked up at me from my father’s lap.
“Are you okay?” She asked.
I threw myself down in the chair in front of his desk. “Scarlett and I got into a fight.”
My father put his chin on her shoulder. “What did you fight about?”
“Silver.”
“Silver?”
“Yes. Laura thinks he imprinted on her,” I told them.
My father froze. “He imprinted on her?”
“That’s what she said.”
He sighed. “Well, she’ll never be safer,” he mused.
“Excuse me?”
“Face it, Osprey, wolves are faster than us. With a wolf willing to give his life for her, she will be extra safe.”
I crossed my arms over my chest. “I’m the only one that’s supposed to protect her. She’s my mate.”
He, along with my mother, burst out laughing. “You have never been so wrong in your entire life, son. Scarlett may be your mate, but she belongs to the sleuth, Silver included now. Face it, boy, that mate of yours is more loved amongst our sleuth members than you are.”
“Is not!”
My mother laughed. “That’s how it’s supposed to be. The sleuth loves me more than your fathers because I interact with them. Your fathers are all stern and mean, while I’m softer. It will draw people to her.”
“Well, I don’t like it. We shouldn’t be fighting over Silver,” I growled.
“So don’t. She’s going to make a great Alpha Sow, Osprey. She’s already shown a natural inclination for it. You’re just going to have let this run its course. It will be okay.”
“I don’t want him lusting after her. He’s already done that once, and we all know how it turned out.”
“If he imprinted on her, there’s nothing sexual in how he feels about her. It’s more like how a puppy sees their human. He’s more likely to sleep in front of her door than hump her leg.”
I rolled my eyes. “I don’t want him feeling anything about her.”
“Too late.”
“Well, fuck,” I mumbled.
My mother smirked at me. “Stop being so jealous, Osprey. She knows you’re her mate. You have nothing to worry about.”
I sighed. “Of course I do. She’s putting being Alpha Sow before me.”
My mother reached out to take my hand. “It’s going to take some time to get used to, but I promise you, the little moments you do get to spend with her will be so worth it. You only feel this strongly about everything because it’s still fresh.”
“I hope so. I just want us to be happy,” I whispered defeatedly.
“You will be.”
‘Osprey, they’re back,’ Beanie linked me.
I sighed as I got up. “I have to go. Thanks for listening to me, I guess.”
“Be safe.”
“What’s the point?” I asked quietly as I walked out of the room.
I stuck my hands in my pockets as I approached Beanie, who was waiting for me beside the door.
“Are you ready?”
“Yes.”
We walked out of the house, and I cast one last look back at it, sighing. “I hate this, Beanie. I just want her back in my arms.”
He patted my shoulder before walking behind a tree to strip. It was not necessary, considering we had seen each other more times than I could count, but I appreciated the privacy as a tear rolled down my face only to be hidden amongst Godric’s fur as we shifted. Fuck, we hated all this strife with Scarlett. I didn’t know how to act. He snatched up our clothes in his mouth before charging toward the wolves territory, stopping a few yards from it to shift back and get dressed. I walked into the middle of their land, letting my aura flare out to force them to all come kneel in front of us. I put my hands behind my back, glaring at them individually, before my gaze fell on a badly beaten Silver. Godric bared his teeth in my head, growling a little.
“So today my Alpha Sow and Beta Sow tried out for the cheerleading team because they wanted to support my Beta and me. Several of you thought it was okay to bully them. It is not.” I paused to let my words sink in. “Caleb, Maurice, Corey, Ice, Lunatic, and Leslie, come line up in front of me! Right now!”
They all scrambled over themselves to come kneel in front of me. They still had bruises and injuries all over their skin. It made me happier to see that they were still healing. They would feel each of those injuries with what I was going to do. I gave them a cold smile before stepping back.
“Janey, Keke, Lulu, Missy, and Morgan, come here.”
The girls exchanged nervous looks before coming to stand in front of the boys. I nodded to Beanie.
“He will be handling your deaths. Go with him.”
They hesitantly followed him into the woods, and within seconds, their screams were cut off. The smell of blood filled the air, and I chuckled at the fear that permeated the air.
“What little bitches you all are,” I said, clucking my tongue.
I waited for Beanie to come back, dragging five spines behind him before letting my aura out stronger. The boys in front of me started shaking more violently with each second that passed as my aura got stronger. Blood started to drip from their noses, mouths, and eyes. When Caleb’s eyes rolled into the back of his head, I pulled my aura back as I leaned against a tree with my arms folded across my chest. It took almost ten minutes before they had healed enough for me to start all over again.
I repeatedly brought them to the brink of death with my aura before letting them heal. It took them longer with each healing cycle, making me roll my eyes while huffing aggravatedly. The next time I let my aura out, I focused it on Caleb, cutting off his ability to breathe. His hands went around his neck as he desperately tried to breathe. His face turned red before his lips, and the tips of his fingers started to turn blue. His arms, face, and neck slowly turned blue while he thrashed on the ground before he fell still with his eyes glazed over. If it was possible, everyone grew even quieter.
“What? Cat’s got your tongue?” I spat while they stared at the deceased body of their friend. “Or is it because you thought because I wasn’t Alpha yet that I wouldn’t have such a strong aura? You obviously know nothing!”
I let my aura out again, this time focusing it on Ice. I smirked as I took over his mind, telling his heart to skip beats. I watched the panic on his face with glee the more beats it skipped until I made it stop for seconds at a time. He started slamming his fists against his chest to try to make it keep beating. I tossed my head back, laughing at how hard he was trying to survive. I knew it wasn’t going to happen; he would accept it sooner or later, too. I waited until I saw him give up before allowing his heart to explode inside his chest. Blood poured from his mouth as he slumped forward onto the ground.
I yawned as I turned my attention to Maurice. He swallowed hard, and I could almost hear his silent cursing. I didn’t care. None of them mattered to me. I made his brain focus on his stomach, making him fall forward as he tried to retch repeatedly. I chuckled as I allowed my aura to push him harder, making him stick his fingers down his throat in an attempt to bring up the bile. The harder he gagged, the more his stomach twisted inside of him. He fell forward onto the ground, smashing his mouth and breaking his nose. I strengthened my aura even more, and we all heard his stomach burst inside of him. Yellow, foamy acid spewed from his mouth, forcing me to take a step back before it hit my shoes.
“Interesting. I wasn’t expecting such a mess. Who’s next?” I scanned each of the boys’ faces before grinning at Corey. “Thanks so much for volunteering.”
I focused my aura on him, targeting his blood vessels and making them swell before letting them return to normal. He howled in agony with every throb of his veins. I yawned again as I let his veins swell until they all erupted inside of him. His blood squirted out of all of his orifices, leaving nothing but a pile of bloody tissue. I rolled my shoulders back. I was getting exhausted. I had never used my aura like this for so long. I turned my attention to both Leslie and Lunatic. I had to end this fast before I wasn’t able to make it back to the house on my own.
I focused on their minds, my aura faltering a little, but Godric pushed forward to shore it up. I silently thanked him as he began to mess with their intestine function. I narrowed my eyes on them as their stomachs started to bloat. I wanted to see their panic, but I was too consumed with killing them without touching them. I had a point to prove. I was impossibly stronger than all of them combined, and I was deadly. It wasn’t long before they collapsed on the ground, too, with blood pouring from their mouths and anuses.
“Beanie, collect their hearts for me. Gather whatever pieces you can from Ice’s chest. I shouldn’t have made his heart explode.”
“Yes, Alpha,” he said, bowing slightly to me.
I watched weakly while he did as I asked. When he was done, I pushed myself up.
“Silver, you’re coming with us,” I said suddenly, shocking even myself. “Help Beanie carry the hearts for Scarlett.”
Silver immediately got to his feet to take four of the hearts from Beanie. He followed close behind us as I stumbled through the forest toward the house. Beanie wrapped an arm around my waist, supporting my weight as we walked to the house, until my legs collapsed a few yards from it.
“Fuck!” I grunted as I rolled over.
“OSPREY?! WHERE ARE YOU?” Scarlett screamed through the forest with panic in her voice.
“SCARLETT, HERE!” Beanie shouted back.
Within seconds, she was barreling through the trees with Elena on her ass to dash over to me. She sank to her knees by my head and gently shifted my head onto her lap. She stroked my hair while tears fell on my face.
“Oh, my Goddess, Osprey. What happened?” She sobbed.
I reached up to take her hand. “Letti, I’m sorry,” I whispered as I kissed her hand. “I do trust you.”
“Shhh, it’s okay. It’s okay. Just rest.”
I let my eyes drift close. “I brought you your wolf…” I managed before passing out.
