Family Is Everything
Family Is Everything
Tasha
I looked out the back window to watch my family for a few minutes as they walked Timothy through shifting while Osprey tried to cling to his leg. Falcon picked him up and moved to the porch to hold our son while the others worked with Timothy. I had woken up in a panic when I had awoken alone. All night long Falcon had held Timothy and he had been the first one to jump up any time anybody needed anything to the point when I had shifted to go to the bathroom he had gotten up with me to make sure I didn’t fall.
I smiled to myself as Timothy whooped and fist the air at a successful shift. He already looked so much better. Color was back in his face and he didn’t look so tired. He kissed Tony before backing away to shift again. I backed away from the window when Osprey pointed at me. I went upstairs to my private room to get the envelope my mother had given me four days ago before I quietly left the house to go down to Raul’s house. I knocked and waited for Valerie to answer the door. She pulled it open, laughing before she stopped immediately upon seeing me. She stepped out and pulled the door shut behind her.
“Is everything okay?”
“Yeah. I just wanted to apologize to you.”
“For what?”
I smiled at her. “Do you think we could go for a walk? There’s something that I would like to speak to you about.”
She glanced at the house before nodding. “Give me one second. Let me let Victor know.”
I waited patiently for her to come back out before gesturing towards the woods.
“After you.”
She walked towards it and I fell into step with her.
“I would like to show you something but you have to be quiet.”
“Okay.”
I led her around to the back of our house where my men and our son rough-housed. Timothy ran away from Godric who dove at his legs and made him hit the ground. Godric climbed on top of him, growling and snarling viciously before sitting on him and nuzzling into him. I pointed to him.
“That is Timothy. He died yesterday.” I put my hand on my stomach. “While they were out, I had a fetal DNA test done. I wanted to know if he passed if this child was his.”
I held out the envelope to her. She took it with shaking hands and pulled the papers out. She read it before her hands shook.
“Is this for real?”
I nodded, smiling. “I never had the chance to have a complete family. Osprey will never have a complete family. Both of his grandfathers are gone and Raul has been a great father to him.” I leaned against the tree to watch them continue to play. “The rest of them have had shitty family lives, too. Timothy’s mother….”
I looked at her. “I think we both know that his grandparents should have never been parents. Sebastian’s father was never around and Jamie was made to grow up too fast. Tony hated his parents. Falcon was very lucky. He had both of his parents who loved him. I want to give our son that. And I think we can only do that by giving him the family that none of us ever had. I know he’s not your grandson but I beg of you to love him like he is. He’s a good kid. He’s an excellent bear. He will be an amazing alpha one day. If you agree, I will talk to him so that you can remain here in town. Maybe Raul will let you have his house. He doesn’t live in it anymore.”
She took my hand and squeezed it. “He’s already my grandson, Natasha. Anybody that my son loves is family. If he wants us here, we will stay.”
I leaned my head against her shoulder. “I haven’t told Raul that I’m carrying his daughter. I haven’t done much of anything lately. We have all been so worried. I hope we can be a family now. A real family. One that leans on each other and would bend over backward for each other. You missed out on Raul. Please, don’t miss out on our children.”
She smiled softly as Tony faked a cry of pain when Godric nipped at his leg and fell down.
“You have a beautiful family.”
“We have a beautiful family,” I say. “Do you want to come over for dinner tonight? We can talk to them about you guys staying.”
She hugged me. “I’ll see you tonight. Do I need to bring anything?”
“No. I’ll cook. Just show up.”
She squeezed me again before walking away. I watched them for a moment before walking out. Falcon raised an eyebrow at me. ‘Where were you?,’ he linked.
‘Arranging dinner guests.’
‘I wanted to talk to you about something. I have to go into the city for a few hours.’
‘Today?’
‘Yes. It’s important.’
‘But I had something important to talk to you guys about.’ I unconsciously touched my stomach. ‘Well, two things.’
He smiled at me. ‘If I leave now, I can be back by dinner.’
‘Alright. Just be careful.’
‘Always.’
He shifted and took off and the other guys exchanged looks. “What was that about?”
“Nothing. He’ll be back.”
Timothy walked up to me and took me in his arms. “I’m sorry for not telling you.”
I tilted my head as I eyed him curiously. “Tell me what?”
“That I was dying.”
I put the back of my hand on his cheek. “Well, I guess it’s lucky that you have a stubborn wife who loves you.”
“You’re still going to marry me?”
I rolled my eyes. “Not with that attitude, mister,” I said sternly. “This is where you say, ‘There’s not one more stubborn.’ Well, I guess it’s lucky that you have a stubborn wife who loves you,” I repeat.
He smiled at me as his eyes lit up with happiness. “There’s not a wife more stubborn.”
I patted his cheek. “As long as you know it.”
He lowered his head to kiss me. “That I do, darling. That I do.”
