Chapter 88 Encounter

Chapter 88 Encounter

Olivia hopped on the train, clutching her bag as she made her way to her seat. Meanwhile, William was on the phone with Henry.

"Mr. Phillips, she's on the train!" Henry, leaning against the carriage connection, grinned.

"Thanks, William!"

William hung up, a smile playing on his lips.

Once the train got moving, Henry strolled over to Olivia's seat and saw her struggling with her luggage. The bag was heavy and almost slipped from her grasp. Henry quickly reached out and caught it.

"Thanks, you... Henry?" Olivia looked up, surprised, as Henry smoothly placed the bag on the rack and gently guided her to sit down.

"Why are you still standing? Sit down and relax, the train is about to leave!" Henry said with a smile.

Olivia was still puzzled about why Henry was there, but he just smiled.

"Surprised?" Henry asked.

Olivia nodded, feeling more than just surprised.

"I'm heading to the conference in Oceancrest City too, so I got you a ticket!" he added.

Olivia rolled her eyes, feeling a bit helpless.

She took off her cap, and Henry took it from her, putting it away before handing her a glass of water.

"Drink up, and have some fruit later. Your lips are dry, you need some vitamins!"

Olivia looked at the chatty Henry and suddenly laughed. "Henry, you have the makings of a dad. You remind me of my mom right now!"

Henry laughed too, not offended, and sat down to get some food for her. "If you want, I'd love to be a dad, but only to our kid!" His words made Olivia blush.

The blush on her cheeks made Henry's heart skip a beat. If they weren't both in uniform, he might have kissed her.

Olivia was too embarrassed to look at him, so she lowered her head and sipped her water slowly.

During her time in Seaside City, Olivia had put on some weight, which made Henry feel more at ease.

"You came over, what about your colleague, he..." Olivia was speaking, but when she noticed Henry's face darken, she stopped.

"Yosef sacrificed himself!" Henry's words made Olivia freeze for a moment, her eyes reddening.

Henry's mood was just as heavy. It was a huge blow to him.

When they discovered Yosef's body hanging from a tree, the ground beneath was strewn with blood and flesh, leaving him almost reduced to a skeleton. Henry had nearly lost it. If Rowan and the others hadn't pulled him back, he might have gone after Drew himself.

Feeling Henry's sadness, Olivia took his hand.

Henry's hand was large, dry, and warm, unlike Olivia's, whose fingertips were always cold. Thinking of this, Olivia tried to pull her hand away, but Henry held on tightly.

"Henry, if I can help you find the killer, would you..."

"No! Olivia, I won't let you be in danger, absolutely not!"

Olivia looked at Henry without speaking, not wanting to talk for the rest of the trip. Henry knew Olivia was definitely upset. Although she seemed easygoing, her inner stubbornness was hard to sway.

When they arrived at the hotel, Olivia and Henry were on the same floor. Olivia opened her door and went in, only to find Henry following her. She looked at him, surprised.

"What are you doing?" she asked. Henry just smiled, took off his police uniform, and started tidying up.

He opened a suitcase filled with Olivia's stuff, surprising even her.

"Where did you get these things?" Olivia couldn't believe it, but Henry kept unpacking.

"Go take a shower. Autumn said you've been away from home for so long and didn't bring many clothes. It's hotter here than in Silverlight City, so she brought you some lighter clothes."

Henry gently nudged Olivia towards the bathroom. Holding her pajamas, she was still in a daze. What was going on? Since when did Henry and Autumn get so chummy?

Biting her lip, Olivia decided she'd have a word with Autumn after her shower. This was too much. How could she give such personal things to a guy?

But Henry was right. Olivia hadn't brought any change of clothes, and the pajamas she bought were uncomfortable.

After her shower, she noticed the bed sheets had been changed, clearly prepared by Autumn.

"With all this prep, is the exchange meeting going to last for months?" Olivia asked, voicing her doubt.

Henry smiled. "Mr. Taylor wants you to follow the whole process, which will take about half a month. I have to head back to Silverpeak State in three days!"

Henry looked up at Olivia. Fresh out of the shower, wearing pink pajamas, she looked especially charming.

Her delicate skin, bright eyes, and tender lips made her incredibly alluring.

Henry held Olivia's hand, feeling her smooth skin. He almost pulled her into his arms, but restrained himself, afraid of scaring her.

"You should sleep. There's a banquet tonight. I'll come get you when it's time!" Henry said, leading Olivia to the bed and insisting she rest.

Olivia was indeed tired but couldn't fall asleep. Her sleep quality had been poor lately, making it hard to drift off.

"Stay with me until I fall asleep!" Olivia's words made Henry's heart skip a beat. He sat on the floor, holding her hand.

"Sleep, I'm here with you!" he reassured her. Olivia nodded and closed her eyes.

She thought she wouldn't sleep well but fell asleep as soon as she closed her eyes. Watching her sleep, Henry couldn't help but secretly kiss her forehead before quietly leaving her room.

When Olivia woke up, it was afternoon. She was awakened by her ringing phone. Answering it, she heard Henry's voice.

"Change your clothes in half an hour. You need to wear your police uniform for the banquet. Put on your shirt!"

Olivia softly replied with a "mm-hmm," her voice tinged with a hint of sleepiness, making Henry's heart flutter.

"Olivia, did you sleep well?" Henry felt his throat go a bit dry and, with a slight nervousness, asked again.

Olivia responded again and hung up, getting up to wash and change in just ten minutes.

Turning to pack her things, she found everything neatly arranged, but her bag from Seaside City was missing.

The suitcase was packed by Autumn, with nothing left to pack, but the bag had dirty clothes Olivia intended to wash herself, which were now missing.

When Henry knocked, Olivia opened the door to see him also dressed. She frowned at him.

"Where's my bag?" Olivia asked.
