Chapter 48: Chapter 48

Amil's POV

I had hoped, that my pregnancy would've lasted a little longer. I wanted to feel my babies first kicks, the first time they moved, and hear their heartbeats for the first time.

Honestly, I also wanted to try out those rites everyone was talking about. I wanted to experience everything they did. Wanted to know what they felt.

It all feels too early. I wanted it to last a little longer.

"Get that fucking needle away from me!" I screamed, backing away as far as I could on the bed, away from the doctor. I hated needles.

There's something I never told anyone, not even my grandmother. My complete fear of needles. I avoided them at all costs. Because of what my mother did to me with them.

Before giving me to my grandmother. She would stab me with them. I developed an intense fear of them because of her. I know it's stupid, to fear something so fucking little, but, even something as tiny as that, could bring the most pain.

Now, that fear is overwhelming, as I stare at the needle like it's the black monster from my nightmare. Glaring at me with those hungry red eyes and a frightening fangged grin.

I wanted to run, to hide, but I'm in too much pain. I'd rather suffer the cut of a knife, than to have a needle be stuck in me.

Draven cupped my face, making me look at him. The worry I saw in his green eyes, made me feel bad for having such a pathetic fear.

"Baby, he's trying to numb the pain. That's all. He's not trying to hurt you." He says calmly, but it does nothing to ease the panic or the fear.

I shake my head, "No, anything but that. Please. No needles. I can't..." I whispered, pleading for him to understand.

When his eyes widened in shock then narrowed into pure rage, his green eyes fading to red. I knew he understood why I was scared of them, maybe a little more than I had liked.

"I'm going to fucking kill her." He growled before looking at Yari, Remus, Taliesin, and Orion. "Stay with him. Don't you dare let any needles get anywhere near him."

He ordered before leaving the room. All four of them did as he had ordered without question. Surrounding me and helping me lay back down. Eryx made sure every needle was out of the room before the doctor started working.

Using a numbing cream on my stomach instead. He made sure I was completely numb, before Evaine, the midwife and the healer prepared themselves for the birth of my babies.

I should have made him stay, but I knew that look in his eyes.

The doctor took a tiny knife and lowered it over my stomach, letting it hover as he looked at me. "Are you ready? Once I start, I can't stop."

I nodded, letting Yair and Orion hold my hands as Eryx and Taliesin took out the piercings.

Then he cut. I didn't feel anything. Not even the blood that spilled out of the large wound and to the blanket underneath me.

I watched as he continued to cut until he put the knife down and dove his hands into my stomach, then pulled out a little baby. A baby that looked way too small to be able to fully breathe on its own.

But when my baby cried, I could hear just how strong their lungs were. "A beautiful baby boy. With very strong lungs I see." Evaine said as she took my son from the doctor as he pulled out another tiny baby, and then another.

Three, two boys, and one girl. They're so small, only big enough to fit in the plan of my hands. But their cries are so loud and strong.

Evaine and the midwife cleaned them up and wrapped them in little towels as the doctor and healer took care of my wound and made sure nothing was left behind that needed to come out.

"I have to admit, seeing this, never gets old." Yari whispered as the others agreed with him.

Evaine walks over to me when I'm able to sit up, "Here, is your first little boy." She says, handing him to me.

"Xerxes," I whisper as the midwife hands me my daughter. "Orinthia," I whisper her name and I swear I saw her smile.

They're so tiny, yet, they look perfectly healthy. "And here, is your second little boy. I know, you only chose two names. Do you have another for him?" Evaine asks as I look up at her before she hands me my second son.

"Acacius." I, never thought a day like this would ever come. Never thought I would be madly in love and engaged to a man who loves me more than words could ever describe. And I never thought I would be holding, not one, but three tiny babies that are half of both of us.

"They're so small. But so cute." Yari said as he tried not to get too close.

"They are perfectly healthy, despite their size. Breathing normally and on their own. I am impressed, but, we should still monitor them closely. They might be healthy, but due to their small size, they must be kept warm at all times." Evaine cautioned.

"I agree. I will be coming by everyday to check on them." The doctor said. As the door to the room opens and Draven walks in with my grandfather and his brothers.

"Mr. Draven, Count Reginald. Everything went smoothly." He bowed to them as Draven basically ran up to me and looked at our babies.

"Three? We have three?" He asked, sounding breathless as he looked at our sons and daughter.

I nodded and smiled at him. "Yeah. We have two little boys and a little girl."

He stared at them, before looking at me with tears in his eyes. "They're ours? Really?" Then the tears fell. This is, the first time he's cried tears of happiness.

My own tears filled my eyes and we both cried while smiling and laughing. I've never been this happy in my life.

"They're beautiful. What names did you pick out for them?" Draven asked as he wiped our tears before holding them.

They look smaller in his hands, than they do in mine. "Xerxes, is our first boy. Orinthia, is our daughter, and Acacius is our second boy." I told him as I pointed them out to him.

"I have a feeling that Xerxes will look like you, Orinthis will look like me and Acacius will look like both of us. But, only time will tell."

And it did. With each passing day, our babies grew bigger. And now, they're chunky little two week old babies that keep us up at night. But we don't mind at all.

As the prophecy foretold, we gained new powers and the ones we already had became stronger. Draven evolved into a Fire Demon. My grandfather confirmed that.

My grandfather said, that Draven told him what he figured out about what my mother did to me. They were both locked up. As for Silas, he's nowhere to be found.
