Chapter 54: CHAPTER FIFTY FOUR

As they got back home, Adam helped Sarah in treating her wounds, he cleaned her shoulders and applied first aid to the scratch caused by the shot fired on her shoulders, the home was quiet and filled with the afternoon air and Adam imagined sharing a room with her on his bed and the memories they would share, he was so engrossed in her pretty face that he had not bothered to check the his wrist watch, the next day was the day of the werewolf ritual, he knew he had to be in the mansion the next day and he couldn’t help but wonder why the world wouldn’t give him and Sarah the time they wanted, as she fetched the rest of the items used in treating the round, the wound had dried up because proper car was not given to it when it happened so Adam got war water to open the pores, he was happy that the he was finally here, after doing all the necessary stuffs, they sat down at the sofa, Sarah sat on his body while she tried to feel him in on all that went by when he went to wage war with the Haiti Clan.

“While we waited for your return, we were all in the hall waiting, then some of us decided to disperse. As I went upstairs to my room to hope for your return, we all heard a huge scream. We rushed down to see the cause of the noise before we found Selena dead. Afterwards, Ian was able to not the puncture on her neck, as he mentioned it everyone else flew to me and tagged me the murderer, I was explaining myself to them but they said I had no explanation to do, everyone asked themselves if they were vampires and no one replied leaving me to face my fate alone, I realized it would be unnecessary staying in a place no one wanted me so I ran for my life, it was so obvious that everyone wanted me out of the way. After I got a job as a bartender, that was the one that blew my cover, they found me out and traced me and looked for me before I finally got to the jungle from there on till now, it hasn’t been easy.” She ended her speech as Adam watched her intensively.

He had not known she had gone through all this pain she spoke off no one the mansion told him about it yet he hated her for nothing and eve wanted to marry Xana due to the hatred he felt for killing their pack member, the only thing that was in his mind was, Who killed Selena? As they explained their ordeal for the last few days, Completely felt pity for Adam and his desire to bring her back to the mansion hale and hearty, he had promised her that they would spend the night in the home then by tomorrow they would go back to the mansion, Sarah also explained to him after her landing and how she managed to break free from the shackles of the enemy, the only thing that mattered to her was getting to a safe place free from people that would pose her as a threat to the economy,. They drifted to sleep and woke up early for the journey ahead.

As Sarah jumped into the truck, she felt relieved to be safe with him but became scared when she realized she was going back to the Sam place she was not wanted, She wanted to tell Adam she couldn’t go with him before he came behind her and said, “Everything will be fine,” he said with total assurance.

The drive back to the mansion was slow basically because the route he used some days back was not the same. As they approach the mansion, Adam knew he had a duty to perform and it was necessary for him to perform the duty, just before he reached the mansion, he stopped the war along the way and faced her, “I made a promise to you that I will not let you go,” he said with utmost sincerity, as he finished he started the car again and moved right into the entrance of the mansion, ever since the wedding cancellation, he had not bothered to check for the recent updates as regards the wedding but he heard funny comments about him “Groom did this, Groom did that'' but he didn’t even care. As he glanced over to her, he noticed she was terrified, he gently pulled his arms and attached it with his so she wouldn’t feel tense.

As he pulled his truck into the compound, he told Sarah to wait for him, she didn’t want to complain so she waited for him to turn round and open the passenger seat for her. They walked hand-in –hand into the mansion. As they entered the mansion, the guards greeted them in shock and glad that their leader was back and that was all it took for them to completely get into the house. They met Ian on the way to the stairs. Ian looked at Sarah with a look of disgust before finally speaking.

“What are you doing here, you blood sucker?” he asked in rage.

“Mind your tone, Ian!” Adam roared.

“So you brought your vampire to the house, did she tell you she killed Selena? Did she tell you she used those teeth of hers to suck her dry while she screamed for help?”

“Ian, Sarah didn’t kill Selena,” Adam said, responding to the accusation directly.

“So who killed Selena?” Ian asked with his hands pointing on his face, no one knew who killed Selena, this was a puzzle that needed to be solved, the only reason he was out here talking with Ian was because he lost his girlfriend but he was going to scream at anyone who called Sarah a murderer because she wasn’t a murderer. There was obviously nothing he could do to change Ian’s but he had to change his mind.

“I am telling you the fucking truth, Sarah didn’t kill her.” Ian didn’t have that look of believe at all because all that was in his head was the zeal to get back at Sarah and he was not giving him a chance, as he neared closer to Ian.

Ian couldn’t believe his eyes, there was no way anyone would tell him it wasn’t Sarah that killed Selena, the hustle had been to get her to confess that day but she hadn’t said angry about been involved and the rest of us pinned it down on her.

“How do you mean, Adam?” Ian asked, trying to be sure he heard correctly.

“The main reason I left my wedding, the same reason I thought of, was that Sarah does not have fangs, her fangs are at still little, so how was she able to puncture Selena’s neck or even try to kill her,” Adam said.

“Wait, you mean, Sarah’s fangs were actually still weak, and it cannot deepen into some certain things?”

“Yes, Ian. I thought of this before I went in search of her, the real reason behind my sudden disappearance on my wedding day as to find the truth about the murder,” Adam said and he knew he had to ask Ian to help him so they could catch the murderer.

The realization hit Ian as he felt stupid for accusing Sarah and blaming her for why she knew nothing about. Immediately, he turned around to catch Sarah’s eyes, he was apologetic in his statement. “I am sorry about all you have been through, Sarah,” Ian said with sincerity.

“Its fine, Ian,” she said to him.

“So since Sarah didn’t kill her? Who killed her? And how did the murderer get into the house?”

As they got into the house, they met Xana’s eyes staring deeply into theirs she was obviously filled with rage as Sarah and Adam got back into the mansion, they met Xana on their way to their room, as Xana Adam them she was deeply irritated, she was very irritated at the sight of Sarah, the same girl who had ruined her wedding. She couldn’t believe she could stand in her presence with a smile on her lips, she thought about making sure that she was going to pay gravely for causing her so much pain and troubles, she couldn’t understand why Sarah had a smirk on her face, and maybe a smirk of victory, she thought. As Xana approached them, she cursed under her breath before finally yelling;

“You murderer, you murderer! “ Xana was yelling at the top of her voice.

“Stay calm, Xana, stay calm,” Adam told her.

“Stay calm after you ran off on our wedding day? I should stay calm after you brought back this girl to our midst, I should stay calm when I know you are a fool, a big fool at that!” Xana yelled flaring up the anger she had suppressed since the day of the wedding. She was totally humiliated, her face had been on the screen for total embarrassment and he wasn’t there to see it.

“You both are fools, Two fools, Adam you will pay for this for letting me suffer here alone with the crowd, and with your disappearance. You will suffer do this truly," Xana assured Adam, but Adam paid no heed to all she talked about, instead, he gently held onto Sarah’s hands and walked up into their room to avoid Xana drama that never ended.

After they settled into the room, they began to shuffle some stuff into the room, Adam entered his room to noticed that something had been removed his full length mirror was son longer there replaced by another that wasn’t full length, the room wasn’t even the same way he had left it on the day he decide to leave. He saw a piece of broken glass and he knew Xana had been in her room, destroyed things to make herself happy. Adam decided to give an announcement after he and Sarah prepared for dinner with the family. Alicia was surprised to see him at the dinner. He was totally shocked at the reaction on her face while she struggled to get the beef from her plate. He looked at the beef on his own plate and thought of saying it while everyone had their meat in their mouths. He was thinking about the very next thing in their heart.

As he entered the dining room, Alicia had her eyes staring into Adam’s own. She was waiting for a reaction of some sort, hoping for a something else to come out from Adam’s mouth while he spoke; deep down she was glad that he was back home, this disappearance had left a turmoil in her stomach and it wasn’t even about the canceled wedding but in few days she watched her children suffer and go through life on their own. As she sat she threw one glance at Sarah who looked washed neat probably after having her bath, she was sure she never had her bath throughout the times she was away from the house and she couldn’t help but wonder why most of these things were happening now, Adam and Sarah looked happy together but she knew there was no way she would allow the both of them get married against her wish, it was either Xana or anyone else not Sarah.

The maid brought in dinner and they had dinner silently almost like no one was there. She struggled to get a glimpse of Xana but she was stoned with rage. Xana couldn’t understand what made Adam fall in love with Sarah, a woman who could not do half of the things she did. She helped their lovely gaze in her eyes and burned it to hell, she was slowly losing her appetite before she heard Adam speak.

“In the spirit of having dinner, I have an announcement to make,” Adam said and everyone fixed their eyes at him looking at his mouth and waiting for what next he’d say before he finally raised his glass up to the air.

Alicia wondered why her son was overly happy and wondered if she should go on with what Ariel said about him allowing them to make their choice not allowing them to force things they wouldn’t want.

“Sarah and I are getting married,” he said while smiling at the thought of marriage with Sarah but he got the glance he wanted from his mother and Xana; he could see the bitterness in their stares.

Before he could complete his speech, Xana flared up in rage, “How dare you, Adam? How dare you? I have been staying here for some time thinking you will notice me but you never did and I am wondering why am I not good enough? Don’t I deserve enough? What have I done to deserve this kind of treatment?"

“You will find someone that loves you, Xana. That person is not just me,” Adam said.

“So you are have been using me as beautifying object decorating the whole place? To think that I left my house so I could be close to you and you treat me this way, Adam? I will never forgive you.” She dragged her chair backwards and ran off leaving her tears for the air.

Sarah could totally understand Xana’s plight but she did so much only to get nothing in return. Why didn’t she leave when she didn’t feel the chemistry?” There was nothing she could do than allow Xana out of the way, she had caused so much trouble already just in a bid to get love from Adam. Adam was unaffected by Xana’s tears; as he sat down he reached to smile at Sarah who was beaming happily from her eyes.

The End.
