Chapter 69
“Jim let’s get our stuff ready. Gather the warriors we brought in this room and we can secure everything. We need to make sure Sonya is protected at all times. I don’t know how I feel about being exposed in the dark with Hades’s army being that close.”
“I don’t like it at all Alpha. I don’t think we should stay. I understand the need to inflict the punishment Luna but I don’t think right now in another pack it is the right choice.”
“I agree. This is the wrong time and place to be a sitting duck for Hades and his army. If Alpha Tyler would allow us to watch from here, I would be okay with that but I refuse to go down stairs and watch.”
Jake pulls her into a tight hug and kisses her forehead. “I love you baby.”
“I love you too my love. Now let’s get home. I need to get some rest for these pups.”
“We will leave as soon as we can love. I promise.”
“Thank you. I love you so much.”
Jake smiles and kisses the top of her head again.
Tyler comes back with Beta Reginald and Harriett.
“Daddy what are you doing here?”
“We came to bring you all home safely. Alpha.” Reginald nods to Jake. Jake nods back.
“Let’s go home.” Harriett says as she reaches her hand to Sonya.
“Mom, Hades is at the southern border waiting. He wants to take you with him.”
“That won’t happen love. I promise.” Jake says as he wraps his arms around her waist from behind. He pulls her into his chest. “We will protect you all.” He places his hand on her belly and kisses the side of her head.
“Thank you, my love.” She reaches up on her tip toes to kiss his lips.
“Let’s go before anything else happens.”
“Alpha Tyler, thank you for your hospitality. It was a pleasure to get to know you more. I hope we can keep our alliance strong. Feel free to reach out for anything you need.”
“Absolutely. The pleasure is all mine. I do want to send you some warriors for more training but we can discuss that after all of this Hades crap is over with. We will stand with you all. You just let us know what you need and we will be there.”
Jake shakes his hand and says, “Thank you, Alpha. That means a lot. We will be in touch.”
They continue making their way to the front of the packhouse. There are 2 armored vehicles and 6 regular large SUVs. Jake, Sonya, Greg, Jim and 6 warriors get into the first armored vehicle. Reginald, Harriett, and 8 warriors get into the other. Then the rest of the warriors pile into the other SUVs. The group leaves in a hurry out the north boundaries.
The normal 6-hour road trip takes the group two and a half hours at the speeds they are traveling on back roads. They don’t even encounter any issues on the way as Jake has already laid out the path back.
Once they get back the vehicles all pull up to the packhouse. Everyone exits the vehicle except Sonya’s group. Jim gets out and drives the vehicle to the hideaway.
Once they are safely behind the walls of the property and have the vehicle hidden, they exit and go into the cabin. Sonya lets out a sigh as soon as they walk inside.
Sadie and Claire run to her and hug her tight.
“Okay we need to get her to bed. She needs some rest before anything and we can talk tomorrow. I promise a full debrief tomorrow.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
Jake scoops Sonya up before she can even protest and takes her into their bathroom. “I assume you wanted to shower before bed love.”
“You know me so well.” She says with a smile.
Jake pulls her closer to him and kisses her. “Of course, I would know the woman I love more than life itself. You get in the shower and I will get you some clothes.”
“Jake.” She says holding his forearm.
“Yes baby?” He asks turning back to look at her with a smile on his face.
“Thank you for everything. You are amazing and you will be an amazing father.”
Jake smiles at her and sends her a wink. “I learned from the best baby. Now get in the shower.”
Sonya giggles but obeys and gets into the shower. She washes quickly and dries off. She goes into the bedroom to find her clothes on the bed but Jake not in the room. She goes ahead and gets dressed then gets into bed.
Jake comes in a couple of minutes later with bottles of water for them. He sets one on her nightstand and kisses her forehead. He then gets into bed pulling her into his arms. Sonya snuggles into his chest and they both fall into a deep sleep.
