Chapter 123: ALWAYS A PART OF ME
Asher woke up so excited. Since he got the mail back from Kiya, he has been excited to meet up with her. His PI had dug in as deep as he could and found that Kiya has not even met or hung out with any other man since their whole breakup, and all her whereabouts were so limited, as though she spent most times at home, at the hospital and at the grocery store.
He even went as far as digging to know who came to visit her, and it's just been Amarah, so the plausible explanation for that bump is that he is the one responsible.
When he sent her the mail, he was still a bit doubtful and sceptical, but her response just gave him the reassurance he needed. He half expected she was going to deny it when he told her he knows it's his baby, but she didn't even make an attempt to, and she agreed to meet him.
He doesn't know how their meeting will go, and he doesn't usually get nervous, but he was a bit nervous this time because he was going to meet his child for the first time officially, even though it's still being baked in the oven.
Towards Kiya, he had mixed emotions. He was half angry at her and half impressed and even more in love with her. She was carrying his child, a mini him and her put together. If there was anyone he'd rather be the mother of his child, it is she because, despite everything, he knew that child was conceived in love and not just pleasure.
Asher got up, headed to the shower and got dressed in a simple white t-shirt, light blue linen pants and his white Hermes slides. He put on a face cap and grabbed his sunglasses and headed to his car. He took the G-Waggon. He was going to run some errands before meeting up with Kiya later in the evening, and he needed the big car for all he was going to do.
He stopped at the coffee shop and grabbed a coffee before going to the mall. He specifically was searching for any store that sold baby things. His child was going to have only the best thing. By the time he had gone round the mall, he finally landed in a large store that sold baby stuff.
He picked out various things ranging from baby clothes to toys to furniture and even a car seat. He was going to turn a room in his mother's house, which he and his sister were now the owners of, considering she won't be needing it in jail. He planned to convert his childhood room into a nursery and bedroom for his child. He will make a room for Kiya too if she would ever like to stay over. He grew up in that house, and he would like his kids too to also grow up there, at least for however long that's possible.
By the time he was done shopping, his car was filled to the brim, and he even had to ask the store to have some other things delivered.
By the time he was done at the store, it was already 1pm. He had less than three hours to meet up with Kiya, but he had one last pit stop.
He headed to his jeweller, who deals in precious stones and jewels.
"Hey man, it's so good to see you," his jeweller, a middle-aged, short, lanky man, said to him. He had a little bit of pity in his eyes, and Asher could tell he was aware of all that's been happening with their family and his mum.
"Hey man," Asher responded. "How are you holding up?" the jeweller said. "I'm so sorry to hear about all that's been happening with your family," he added.
"I'm fine, man, thank you," Asher said, quickly dismissing the chat and hoping the man will take a hint and let it rest, considering he is here for other things.
"So what brings you here? How may I help you?" the jeweller said, changing the subject, for which Asher was grateful.
"I'd like to get a simple gold bracelet, specifically one that's unisex. I want it to be the size of a baby's hand. I would like it to be a chain bracelet that you'll make in a way that as my baby grows, you'll be able to attach more chains to fit its size."
The jeweller smiled. "I think congratulations are in order then, so congratulations, sir."
Asher was smiling brightly as he accepted the congratulations. "Thanks, man," he said. Then he continued to give a detailed description of what he wants.
"Would you like to make an inscription in it, say a name or something?" the jeweller asked.
"Of course, I would love that." On the corners of the bracelet, I'll like the inscription "Always a part of me".
"That's beautiful, sir," the jeweller commented, and Asher nodded, happy.
"When would you like it to be ready?" the jeweller asked.
"As soon as possible," Asher responded. "I don't know how much time we have left until my baby's arrival, but I need it to be ready before then."
"Okay sir, I can get it done in two weeks, hopefully the bun will still be in the oven by then," the jeweller said, and Asher chuckled.
He went ahead to pay for the jewellery and headed out of the store. He looked at the time and saw he had about an hour left until his meeting.
He hurried back to his mom's place, dropped all the stuff he got, and headed into the shower again, considering he has been running errands all day.
He switched out his clothes for another white shirt and brown linen pants this time. He used the mildest clean perfume he could get because he took into consideration that he was meeting a pregnant woman and she could get irritated by any strong scent. He grabbed the gift he had also gotten her earlier. It was a hospital bag which he had asked the store lady to curate. It contains everything a mother and a baby will need in the hospital during the birthing and delivery process. He hoped she hadn't thought about that yet so this would be a needed gift. He grabbed his car keys and headed directly to the ice cream shop.
