Chapter 79: Second Wedding
Mother’s eyes sparkled as she circled around me, her hands clasped together in delight. "Oh, Moon Goddess above! Macedonia, your wedding dress nearly fits perfectly after all these years!" Her beaming smile lit up the room as she gestured for Dorothy and Helewis to join her. "Doesn’t she look stunning, girls?"
"She does, Mother," Dorothy and Helewis chimed in, their gazes sweeping over the gown, smiling from ear to ear.
Dorothy tilted her head, her expression shifting to disbelief. "But honestly, Sister Macedonia, this is so last minute! The wedding is today, and you’re only now trying on your dress? The tailor’s going to have a field day."
I laughed softly, adjusting the gown’s bodice as I stared at my reflection in the mirror. The fabric hugged me snugly, a testament to the years that had passed and the little weight I’d gained.
The gown was breathtaking. It was a timeless off-shoulder silhouette adorned with delicate pearls and rhinestones that shimmered softly under the light. It felt like more than just a dress. It was a reminder of the love Azarius and I had held onto, even through the storms.
Above it all, my makeup was meticulously done, accentuating my features. My eyes, framed by shimmering bronze eyeshadow and soft kohl liner, sparkled with unshed tears. A faint blush graced my cheeks, while my lips glistened with a nude pink gloss that gave a touch of romance. My hair was styled into an intricate chignon, tendrils of curls left to frame my face, adorned with small pearl pins that matched the dress perfectly.
"It’s true," I admitted, running my fingers over the intricate beadwork. "This dress was made for me years ago, and yet here I am, needing a few tweaks. I suppose that’s what happens when you fall for a man who never stopped believing in us."
"Thank goodness Azarius kept it safe all this time," I murmured, my heart swelling with emotion. I turned toward the tailor, Madame Ivana, her hands gracefully working on the delicate fabric. "I never expected Azarius would have asked you to keep this all those years while I was gone," I said softly, my voice tinged with surprise.
Madame Ivana straightened, offering me a kind, knowing smile as she inclined her head respectfully. "Your Majesty," she began, her tone gentle yet firm, "you underestimate the depth of Alpha King Azarius’s love for you. He never moved on, not for a moment. He entrusted me to preserve this dress, believing with unwavering faith that the day would come when you’d return to him and wear it as his bride again."
Her words carried a warmth that settled over me, each syllable a testament to the enduring love that had weathered years of separation. That divorce was so painful yet I couldn't believe that Azarius still loved me despite I had hurt him.
His declaration of love for me yesterday and the history he told me was enough on how much he loved me.
I glanced down at the gown, running my fingers over the pearls and rhinestones, feeling the weight of Azarius’s devotion in every stitch.
As the final adjustments to my dress were made, the room bustled with excitement. Dorothy and Helewis flitted about, gathering accessories and ensuring everything was perfect, while Mother kept glancing at me with pride shimmering in her eyes.
"Madame Ivana," Mother said, her voice soft but urgent, "is there enough time to finish?"
"Fear not, Lady Stallone," Madame Ivana replied confidently, her hands steady as they worked. "Your daughter will walk down the aisle in perfection."
I let out a shaky breath, feeling a wave of anticipation rush through me. This wasn’t just a wedding. It was a promise, a second chance to heal the wounds of the past and build a future with Azarius.
It was a future I now felt ready to embrace.
The door creaked open, and Amaryllis peeked out before smiling brightly. "Mother! You're so beautiful!" she exclaimed and ran towards me, giggling.
She was earing a delicate dress of soft lavender chiffon that fluttered with every step she took. The bodice was adorned with tiny embroidered flowers in shades of white and silver, giving her the appearance of a tiny woodland princess. A matching ribbon was tied neatly around her waist, and her dark curls were woven into an intricate braid crowned with a halo of baby’s breath flowers.
Her shoes, tiny and gleaming, peeked out with every enthusiastic step as she clung to my hand, her excitement barely contained. Despite the elegance of her attire, her youthful energy radiated through, making her the perfect blend of charm and innocence.
"My sweet Amaryllis! You're so pretty, too!" I complimented, couldn't contain my smile.
Amaryllis’s tiny hands reached for the folds of my gown, her wide eyes brimming with awe as she looked up at me. "Is that what a real Luna Queen looks like, Mother?" she whispered, her voice filled with wonder.
I chuckled as I knelt carefully, ensuring the gown’s intricate beadwork didn’t crumple, and took her small hands in mine. "No, sunshine," I replied softly, brushing a loose curl away from her face. "This is what a mother looks like when she’s about to marry the love of her life again."
Amaryllis’s giggles were infectious as she wrapped her arms around my neck, squeezing me tightly. "I can’t wait to see you and Father together. It’s going to be the best day ever!"
Her words brought a lump to my throat, and I hugged her back, my heart swelling with love for my daughter and the family we were rebuilding.
Finally, Azarius... The family I always dreamed of would be come true because of you.
Mother’s voice interrupted the tender moment. "Alright, you two," she said with a gentle laugh, clapping her hands. "There’s no time to waste! We need to get the final touches done before the ceremony begins."
I rose to my feet, smoothing the folds of my gown. Dorothy approached with a delicate lace veil that shimmered subtly under the light. "It’s time, Sister Macedonia," she said, her voice filled with emotion as she handed the veil to Madame Ivana, who carefully affixed it to my hair.
As the veil cascaded down my shoulders, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. The image staring back at me was one of transformation, not just in appearance but in spirit. This was the woman Azarius had fought for, the woman he still believed in after all these years.
I couldn't help but getting teary-eyed with happiness.
"Perfect," Mother declared, her voice brimming with pride.
Dorothy and Helewis stepped forward, each holding an arm of Amaryllis as they prepared to escort her to the main hall. "We’ll make sure she’s ready for her part as the flower girl," Dorothy said with a wink.
Amaryllis blew me a kiss before skipping away with her aunts, her laughter trailing behind her.
Once they were gone, Mother placed her hands on my shoulders, her gaze soft yet firm. "You’ve been through so much, Macedonia," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "But today is a new beginning. Remember, love is about forgiveness and strength. You’ve proven you have both."
I nodded, swallowing the emotion threatening to spill over. "Thank you, Mother," I whispered, squeezing her hands.
A knock on the door drew our attention. My heart leapt as the door opened to reveal Father, his expression a mixture of pride and emotion. He stepped inside, his movements deliberate, and extended his arm to me.
"It’s time, my little girl," he said, his voice rich with affection.
I took his arm, feeling a surge of warmth as we stepped toward the door. The soft hum of music floated from the main hall, and the faint murmur of guests reached my ears.
The moment had arrived.
As we made our way to the ceremony, my thoughts centered on Azarius. This wasn’t just a wedding but a vow renewed, a second chance at happiness.
When we reached the doors, I paused, taking a deep breath. Father gave me a reassuring smile. "Ready?" he asked.
"Yes," I replied, my voice steady.
The doors swung open, revealing the grand hall bathed in soft candlelight. Azarius stood at the altar, his gaze locked on me, his expression a mixture of awe and adoration.
Our eyes met, and everything else faded away.
This was our second wedding moment, a promise to love, cherish, and endure together, no matter what lay ahead.
