Chapter 14: Sleeping in the Same Bed Meant Belonging to Him Forever

Jessica was startled, forgetting to even breathe in shock.

It couldn't be Jennifer! She was dead.

It was impossible.

When Jessica came back to her senses and wanted to check, that figure had already disappeared.

She had to investigate thoroughly again.

And indeed, it was Jennifer who came.

Carrying a lunch box, Jennifer quickly entered the ward and fed William.

Seeing William’s face gradually turning rosy, Jennifer was relieved.

At that moment, the door of the ward was suddenly knocked.

The nurse's voice came, "Mr. Whitfield, William needs to get a shot."

"Okay."

Michael looked at the documents in his hand and replied.

But William reacted strongly.

He buried his head in Jennifer's arms and said, "I don't want to get a shot."

William's head immediately flashed scenes of painful needle shots.

Jennifer, who always had a soft spot for William, chuckled. She wanted to see the joyful scene of him getting a shot.

She reached out and rubbed William's small face, "It's okay, and I’m here."

Seeing Jennifer's smiling face, William immediately became strong, "I can get a shot."

He didn't want Jennifer to laugh at him.

“William, you are really brave, and you're the best.”

Jennifer smiled and her spirits soared.

From the first time she laughed, Michael was captivated.

Michael didn't expect Jennifer to have such a bold side, which was a hundred times more attractive than her careful appearance in front of him before.

His gaze unconsciously fell on Jennifer.

William was no longer moving around, and the nurse quickly finished the change.

William raised his hand proudly in front of Jennifer, clearly seeking praise.

Jennifer immediately gave him a thumbs up, "William is the bravest little guy."

"Yes."

William had a big smile on his face, a far cry from crying and making a fuss when getting the needle.

Michael's gaze on the two individuals remained unbroken, and he didn't expect that Jennifer could make William let his guard down.

Why was William so clingy to her?

Jennifer didn't notice Michael's probing gaze. She reached out to tuck William in, and softly said, "William, go to sleep."

She saw that William's eyelids were heavy, but he kept staring at her. She assured him, "I will stay here with you until you fall asleep."

William was still not at ease, his little hand holding onto Jennifer's clothing, reluctant to close his eyes.

But before long, he drifted off into dreamland.

After observing for a while to confirm that William was truly asleep, Jennifer whispered to Michael, "Mr. Whitfield, I have something else to attend to, so I'll take my leave."

Michael, without lifting his head from the file in his hand, nodded.

Upon receiving a response, Jennifer made a small movement to get up, but just as she started to, William instantly woke up, saying, "You can't leave."

"William, be good. I’m just moving a bit. Go back to sleep."

Jennifer quickly sat back down, and William instantly fell asleep again.

After observing for a while, Jennifer got up again.

William woke up instantly as before.

After several repetitions, William finally couldn't hold back anymore and stood up crying loudly, "You don't love me anymore."

The sudden outburst was like a river bursting through a dam. William held onto Jennifer's clothes tightly, eyes filled with tears and disappointment.

Feeling abandoned like a helpless little animal, he had to endure the heartbreak with strength.

Jennifer's heart skipped a beat, William had only thrown tantrums before and never looked so heartbroken. The painful look in his eyes made her unable to meet them directly.

She thought William must be disappointed in her.

But why did her own heart also ache with panic?

Jennifer quickly picked up William, pressed her face against his, and whispered, "I'm sorry, William. I don't want to leave you. I will stay and accompany you."

William's crying did not stop immediately, with a sobbing voice he said, "Lie down on the bed, and let's sleep together."

Sleeping in the same bed meant belonging to him forever.

"Okay."

Jennifer agreed, afraid that William would be sad again.

William saw Jennifer lying down, and immediately obediently lay down next to her. But after thinking about it, he got up and said, "Daddy, come and lie down."
