Chapter 36
"What you are still doing? Quickly Come out Roshini," her mom shouted standing before her room.
Roshini staring at the saree replied, "Five minutes," she couldn't feel that enthusiasm in getting ready for this meeting. It is suffocating her to do this. But when thinking about her parents she pushed herself into this and there's no other option here.
She wore a yellow colored saree, some jewels, and applied makeup to look presentable. She looked herself in the mirror her reflection carried unhappiness, unwillingness, and uncomfortableness. Wearing that specs Roshini came out of her room.
Her mom and dad were all ready and discussing something while waiting for Roshini. She doesn't know a single detail about the guy that she is going to meet, she is indeed acting stubborn here. Her persistent nature showed how much she is still in love with Siddharth. Roshini can't understand why she is not able to think anyone else than him. Perhaps if he left her with a proper goodbye telling that everything is fake, their relationship is nothing she would have forgotten his love on him, but out of nowhere he came into her life and gone out taking her every love that she stored in her. Now her heart is barren to again love someone.
"Apply little more makeup," her mom said.
"Mom! That's enough," she whined.
They were going to meet that guy and his family in the nearby temple. After the taxi came, Roshini and her parents went in it, her brother said he is not coming along with them since he knows his sister won't accept this marriage that simply.
She simply gazing the building, Roshini made up her mind that she should never ever accept this marriage.
The car stopped before the temple, Roshini came out and felt her heart was racing in anxiousness. She walked behind her parents and Roshini looking down wondering how she's going to manage.
Suddenly they stopped and greeted someone standing before them, Roshini raised her gaze and looked a man and woman in her parent's age, with them there is a guy plastering a smile, looked at her. She immediately turned her gaze to the other side and gave a greeting smile to his parents.
"This our daughter Roshini," her parents introduced.
Roshini again smiled and looked down in an awkwardness. They all went to pray, Roshini entirely avoided looking at that guy's direction. She felt uncomfortable by his staring but what to do? It all happens.
Then they all sat in a place, first, that guy's mom started the conversation.
"Vijay was working in Bangalore, and he is planning to settle in there itself," she said hesitantly, trying to tell that Roshini has to shift her work. Roshini at that moment knows that guy's name is Vijay.
"Roshini's Company is also having a branch in Bangalore so there is no problem," her mom said and they smiled happily hearing that.
Roshini dreaded in fear because they were talking like this Marriage is definitely going to happen.
After talking about their mutual relatives, Vijay looked Roshini, "I want to talk with her," he said like asking a permission.
"Sure, go Roshini," her mom appreciated the idea, even her dad too.
Roshini stood up and followed him, this situation seemed so weird. She prayed to god that Vijay has to dislike her but she can't act like a bad girl also, with a stupid hope she sighed in frustration. After reaching some distance he stopped and looked at her. There are a few people around them and for a minute they didn't talk anything.
"Where you graduated from?" he asked.
"GCT,"
"Oh, I studied in Anna university," he said.
She nodded, so he must be good in studies she concluded. Then he asked where she is working? Where is she staying and all? She replied in one to two-word answers. Throughout the conversation Roshini avoided looking at him, he is taller like Siddharth and handsome, and his voice was good but not that manly compared to Siddharth.
Her mind automatically comparing him with Siddharth. She couldn't change the fact that no man can replace him in her heart and it will hard to wipe out his feelings without a trace.
Vijay looked like a nice guy and a perfect match for Roshini, her parent maybe his parents will also think to marry Roshini to him. He is earning a lot and there is no valid reason to say 'No' to this guy so Roshini became restless thinking this.
"Are you interested in marrying me?" Vijay suddenly asked her.
"What?" Roshini couldn't grasp his question.
"I mean do you have any objection in marrying me?" he asked.
Roshini gulped and looked at him in astonishment. Here she can't wholeheartedly say yes and also No.
"I don't know, that's all my parent's decision. What they decide will be my answer," she said looking down. Vijay smiled hearing that.
"Okay then I will ask your parents directly," he said and Roshini mentally cried for being so helpless.
Then they walked back to their parents. Vijay was full of smile and his parents were happy to see him. Roshini mom gripped her hand and Roshini nodded her head telling everything is fine.
They all decided to leave. Vijay's parents told them they will inform their answer this week. Roshini parents strongly believed that this will all end in marriage.
When they returned back to the house, Roshini headed to her room and her mom went with her.
"Do you like him?" she asked.
"I don't know," she replied.
"You talked with him, right?"
"Yeah, but I can't tell considering it was only a five-minute talk. I don't know what type of person he is?"
"Roshini, he is just like you studied hard and now working and earning a lot. His family was already rich and you don't want to work after marriage at all," her mom tempted her by showing all the positive sides in this.
Roshini didn't talk anything and started to remove her jewels. She sat beside her mom and looked at her.
"Mom, in my life I did everything that you wished. So I can't decide anything about this mom, do as you wish. But I want to work for some days keep that also in your mind." She said.
Her mom was confused about what exactly she is trying to say, she went out of her room when Roshini said that she is going to change her saree.
In the evening, Roshini went to meet Nidhi. She told her about what happened and asked, "You tell me Nidhar, what I have to do?" she asked.
"Roshini, better forget about Siddharth, don't you feel that he is not the one for you after all this happened?"
"Yeah I didn't feel it, that's why I am still thinking about him," she cried.
"Roshan if he really had felt something for you then he would have come to you, don't waste your life thinking about him. Once I only encouraged you to love him but now I am feeling guilty for doing that," Nidhi said worriedly.
"No Nidhar, it's my fault for not understanding my situation. Let's see what that Vijay going to tell. But I decided if he says okay for this marriage then I am also going to accept," while telling this Roshini throat went dry, her eyes welled with tears. Her love is going to end, the feeling itself banged her to the ground.
Nidhi patted her shoulder, "Don't feel for anything Roshini, that Siddharth was an unlucky person who is going to lose you," she said and Roshini smiled thinking how stupid that was.
I mean nothing to him that's the fact so he won't worry at all, she thought.
Days passed, Roshini mostly spends her days sleeping and spending time with her family. It was a Tuesday evening Roshini got ready for Anu's marriage reception. She was confused about what to wear, a saree or salwar, then, as usual, she goes with her mom's decision of wearing a saree for this occasion.
She looked stunning in that dark blue saree and the jimmiki earnings complimented her look.
After getting ready Roshini's brother dropped her on the bus stop like she asked cause Roshini love to travel by bus especially in the evening time and Karthik said that he will come to pick her since it will become night time while she returns back.
She nodded her head and waited for the bus, the reception is at a very famous hall in the city since the guy she is going to marry was a rich person that is what she said.
Getting on the bus Roshini stood near the second seat since there is no seat for her to sit. The bus traveled crossing the coffee shop that she and Siddharth went on that beautiful day. She looked her neck the chain, she is still wearing that every day. She doesn't want to throw that away. Perhaps these are the reasons that I am still reminding you? she questioned.
Wherever she goes and whatever she does there is a part of his memory that follows her everywhere. She is tired of trying to forget everything like a nightmare. How can she do it? How can she forget when she has so much to remember him.
It is something that she wished to continue all her life but suddenly it all vanished so that she couldn't come out of it.
I think I have expected more than what I am going to get that's the mistake of my life, my hope is all faded away Siddharth, let me forget you... Please, she told herself for one last time.
She reached the stop and walked to the hall carrying the gift she bought. It was a big hall, the relatives from both the side welcomed the guests. Roshini went into looking at the decorations done in the hall. Anu looked so beautiful and her groom was good-looking too.
She went to the stage, handed the gift and congratulated them, taking a picture she came down, sat on the chair, and watched the people around her.
Marriages are made in heaven; heaven is a place where everyone will be happy. In this hall, every person carried a smile even though they have a lot of struggles in their lives. Most of the people here along with her have a wish that this couple has to be happy in their life. This place full of positive vibes is indeed considered as a heaven for her. Roshini felt that positive vibes in her too.
When she was thinking about this there was some disturbance in the entrance. She looked to see who is that person entering the hall. Everybody was surrounding him and all people turned their attention to that person. Roshini also gazed curiously. It was Mr. Vikranth, he walked into the hall, Anu's in-law’s family took him to the stage.
Roshini felt happy to see him after a long time. She waited for Siddharth's dad so that she can greet him since he did a great help, she should always be grateful for that.
After taking photos with their family members Vikranth came down and sat on the front row along with Anu's father in law and was talking with him.
"Sir?" she called him. Vikranth turned his gaze and looked Roshini in a surprise. He smiled widely, "How are you sir?" Roshini asked.
"I am fine, Roshini, it is so surprising to see you here," he exclaimed.
"Anu was my friend, we are working in the same company," Roshini said.
"Oh..." Vikranth then asked Anu's father in law to go and continue inviting his guests.
"Sit, Roshini," he asked.
"No, Sir I am going to leave," she said.
"Just take your seat I will drop you in your house. It’s been so long since I saw you right," he commanded. Can't able to reject, Roshini sat beside him.
"It is hard to recognize you with these glasses," Vikranth said and Roshini grinned. Seeing his reminded Siddharth. If Siddharth gets old he will look like his dad.
"How is your brother studying? I heard he is the topper of his class."
"Yeah sir," she nodded with a smile.
"I want to tell you this for a long time, don't call me sir, just call me uncle," he ordered. It was surprising for Roshini to sit beside this man and at the same time, she prayed that he shouldn't talk about Siddharth.
"Actually, the person sitting with me was an employee of our industry, he has been working from my dad's time," he said before Roshini could ask.
"How is Aunty, Lakshmi, and Shiva?" Roshini asked leaving Siddharth.
"They are all fine, Shiva was doing Engineering and Lakshmi was doing MBBS in your brother's college." "Today Meera went for another marriage since it is a marriage season, we have got a lot of invitation so we both divided equally to attend the weddings," he chuckled. That time Anu's father in law again came and requested Vikranth to have dinner.
"You had dinner?" he asked Roshini. She nodded no.
"Then come with me," he said and Roshini also went with him. The food was delicious and Vikranth while eating asked about her work and her family. Either he or Roshini didn't utter the name Siddharth.
Roshini at least wanted to know if he is fine or not, but she is fighting inside to ask that.
They again they sat in the same place and Vikranth called someone on the phone,
"Where are you?" he asked.
The other person replied something.
"Come and pick me then," he added and ended the call. Roshini thought it must be his driver.
But Vikranth has planned something different for her.
"Then, did your parents looking for a groom?" he asked.
She smiled, "yeah uncle, last Sunday our family met a guy and his family in the temple. My parents were considering the proposal," she said.
"Oh! It went that far!" he exclaimed in a shock.
"Do you like that guy?" he asked unable to believe this.
"I don't know uncle, it is all up to my parent's decision," she replied looking down.
That time Roshini got a call from her brother, she replied Vikranth sir will drop her so he doesn't have to come here to pick her.
Vikranth was in a deep thought hearing this from her. His phone rang so he stood up and asked Roshini to come with him.
They went out and waited at the entrance of the hall. Shimmering lights, the music from the hall, and the cool breeze made the environment really beautiful.
Finally, Roshini opened her mouth to ask the thing that her heart pushing her to say.
"Siddharth.... where he is now? How is he?" she asked. Her tone becomes quiet and her heart raced to hear his answer.
"You can ask this directly to Siddharth," he said with a smile and looked at the other side.
Roshini couldn't understand what he meant by this? Then she heard the horn sound of the car. Her eyes widened in shock at that very moment to realize what he truly meant.
