Chapter 17: Chapter 17

SERAPHINA

Nobody really cares about anybody around here, it's all about what they can achieve and I know that.

The only thing that I'm very skeptical about is making a move that is going to cost me a lot.

What I was about to achieve was making sure that my mother was very confident with talking to me about everything and also promoting the bond between myself and Lucian.

I found myself in bed the next morning and I didn't need anybody to tell me who had been in charge of that.

My mother was definitely going to hate me soiling her share and she must have begged him to help me upstairs.

He was still nowhere to be found and I also decided to take a walk to the gym.

I wasn't going to put my life on hold simply because I didn't get what I wanted and that was not how I operated before so I wasn't going to start now.

I came in contact with a few people who acknowledged me with a nod yet giving me a wide gap like I was infected with some plague.

Most people around here always had a weird way of handling someone like me but I was not interested in anything that had been done except for what I truly wanted to talk about.

"May I show you around ma?" Layla appeared out of nowhere and I felt a little bit startled.

"Did you reduce popping up just in anybody's face like that?" I hissed.

"I'm so sorry I didn't know that it was going to upset you." Her countenance fell instantly.

Since she had an idea of most of the things going on around here I thought that it would be best to ask her if you have any questions but then she was going to point fingers at me.

"It's fine, I'm so sorry for snapping at you."

If this was going to be my vacation then I needed to take the best opportunity and make do of whatever I had instead of pretending like I didn't really care.

She looked a little bit perplexed at the fact that I was apologizing to her and I wondered if any of them had any decency or manners around here or it was just purely based on what they thought should be.

"I'm so sorry but, I feel pressured to tell you the truth. A lot of people do not like you around here and I would not want you to fall victim. I think you should stay away from public places." She grimaced.

My mother should have been the one telling me this information instead of a total stranger.

I didn't know the inner workingings of this place but I was sure that somebody was bound to have enemies around and that was why I wasn't going far.

too many ideas were going to destroy everything and I decided to shove it down the bank of my mind refusing to pick it up again.

If anybody was trying to get at me then they needed to come correctly or else I will have no choice but to start all over again.

"So is there any special thing that I should be aware of or is just this the only thing that I should fear?"

The fact that everyone had already been training at this time was impressive but at the end of the day I also knew that it was not as easy to run a pack.

We needed someone who could fight for us and keep us in the race. My mother wasn't going to do that for me and I liked to think of myself as impressive.

We moved on from that topic and I insisted that we got into something else entirely because it was just the right way to go.

I wanted to experience everything in the entire space because it gave me a sense of solidarity and honestly speaking I just wanted to be present.

"These walls have been built for a long time. These walls have also been built by Our Fathers and the rumors tell us that they were enslaved until the alpha's father decided to step in." Layla continued her story happily.

she was going to make a very good company and I didn't think I wanted to change anything about that but at the same time I wanted to know more without the things that she had just said.

"Doing the job of a tour guide now?" Lucians' commanding voice pierced through from behind and I felt myself stiffening instantly.

I'm supposed to be this afraid but I couldn't still stop myself from thinking about it all along and wondering if and what could happen if I just didn't put him on such a pedestal.

He looks like he was having the time of his life still looking very clean and shaven.

My mother was wrong to cheat on such a person.

The bond stirred between the both of us and I could feel Layla's eyes on us but she didn't know what was going on and I wanted to keep it that way or else we were going to be at a risk of exposure.

Layla could chat to anybody that she just met and that was going to be a complete disaster, something that I have not prepared for.

"Come with me Seraphina." Lucian commanded

I wanted to revolt because he was the one who didn't want anything to do with me in secret but now he was trying to speak to me?

Feeling Layla's gaze on me, I sighed. "Okay."

After the initial excitement of being in his presence I started to think about other things that could have happened.

He opened the office door and I followed him inside.

I possibly did not know what I was expecting but I expected some measure of decency and I was glad to see that he kept his space clean and you could see from their arrangement of every book on the shelf that he didn't allow them to be tampered with.

"Have a seat Seraphina."

"What do we have to discuss?" I piped up.

We were in an enclosed space so I knew that I could speak to him however I truly wanted and he was not going to do anything about it because for some reason he just had a soft spot for me and I found out.

"I don't know what has been wrong with you, but I really need you to stop. I need you to stop moving that way or else we are going to have more problems on our hands than you can ever imagine," he wiggled his fingers.

I didn't see anything wrong in what happened, in fact I just saw it as a normal way of life and he was the one blowing things out of proportion.

"I don't seem to understand what you are trying to say. Are you trying to say that I might have...?"

"No, I'm trying to say that you need to calm down. Somebody tried to blow up my mine."

I took a seat instantly as soon as he showed a hint of vulnerability.

I might not be business savvy but I knew that that took a lot,

"You need to be very alert whenever you are around now because it seems like somebody is trying to sabotage us from within and I wouldn't want you to be the victim of the circumstance. Do you understand where I'm driving?"

I nodded in partial admittance that I had been thinking the worst about him when he was only looking for ways to keep me out of problems.

"Okay..."

He let out a frustrated groan. "Stop looking at me like that. It's not healthy."

I smiled softly. "Healthy for you or for me?"

He was also feeling the effect of the Moon goddess and I was a little bit happy that we had finally established that there was nobody who was not in tune with their emotions when it came to this. We just pretended like it was nothing serious when it was really something deep.

I didn't even say a word, instead I just kept looking at him.

He came closer towards where I sat and then looked me in the eye.

"I honestly think you are one of the most beautiful people that I've ever laid my eyes on but this is not..."

"Right?" I barked out a laugh.

"You really think that I'm going to listen to anything that you have tried to say to me that undermines me? Makes me feel worthless. Makes me feel like the second option and would never be important to you."

His eyes widened at my accusation and he shook his head instantly.

"I would never say that to you whether now or later. I don't know where you must have gotten that idea from but it is completely false. Nobody has the right to condemn you when I still want you in my life."

It was wrong to tell a man to fight for you, but at this point I wasn't past begging because I could see the torn expression in his eyes.

Try as he might to always act like he didn't have any emotion I could see him flickering between doing the right thing or going for it and forgetting what anybody was going to say about it."

"Look I already know how this is going to end and I know that my mom is going to be mad at you by the time she finds out but that doesn't still take away from the fact that we can't still do something. We can find a way to make this work and I'm sure that you are ready to do it so what stops us?"

I knew that I was pushing his buttons but at the same time I needed to have a clear understanding on what the issue was truly about

I could lie to myself and say that because he didn't want to cheat on my mom but it seemed like it was for a deeper purpose.

"You shouldn't take advantage of your mom's kindness. She brought you over here to Bond with you. How was she feeling by the time she figured out that I had been sleeping with her daughter?" He drew out.

Then he should better leave me the hell alone instead of putting ideas in my head that were not going to be fruitful.

"I really do not want to get mad at you because honestly speaking you are getting on my last nerve and you are making it look like I'm forcing myself on you. I stayed away from you but you still seek me out."

He grabbed my hand and pressed me against the wall, silencing my frustration with a wild kiss.

I didn't know what I was expecting but I knew that it brought back the memories of that night and how he spread me open and had his wicked way.

"You shouldn't be speaking but I'm still talking. Some people think it's a sign of disrespect. You don't want people thinking the worst about you right?" He whispered, pressing himself into me.

I could have said that my brain cells had completely vanished but that would be me just lying because I couldn't even see beyond the stars that he had caused.

This was the most passionate case that I had ever experienced in my entire life and it was so gentle that I almost felt like it was a butterfly that landed on my lips.

Don't laugh at me but that was exactly how I felt deep down and I started looking for ways to make this continue.

"I'm so sorry I cannot do this. If you cannot choose me then we have to part ways before it's too late." I walk away with the remaining shred of dignity that I had in me.

I wasn't going to be the woman who was going to be at the beck and call of a man when he just wanted to scratch his itch.
