Chapter 296

Henry's possessiveness over Amelia had reached a whole new level of crazy.

Alexander found it pretty funny, considering he used to be Amelia's closest confidant.

Now, whenever they crossed paths, it was like they were mortal enemies, and their conversations turned into arguments almost instantly.

Grace's look at him was also filled with a quiet hostility, but he couldn't really blame her.

After all, Scarlett, that nutcase, had thrown some nasty insults right in front of her. No mom would let anyone talk about her kid like that.

Realizing he wasn't exactly welcome, Alexander paused and looked at Henry. "Don't get the wrong idea, I just want to have a quick word with Amelia. I promise I won't do anything."

Henry almost laughed out loud. What was this guy thinking?

He had the audacity to stand there and make such a request. The only reason Henry hadn't decked him was because Amelia was there.

Did he really think Henry took him, this so-called brother, seriously?

Henry's face darkened. "Whatever you need to say, you can say it here. I don't think Amelia wants to be alone with you either."

Amelia nodded, making her stance clear. "Just say what you need to say. I can hear it too; there's no need for privacy."

It hit Alexander that he and Amelia could never go back to how they used to be.

It wasn't just a few small things; Amelia didn't want him in her life anymore.

He suddenly gave a bitter smile. "You probably want to cut all ties with me, don't you?"

No one expected him to say that.

Alexander continued, more to himself than anyone else. "Honestly, I want that too. So this time, I came to clear things up with Amelia."

Henry stood there with his hands in his pockets, eyes full of disdain.

Alexander was pissed but had to keep it in check. He pointed to a nearby empty spot. "Can you wait over there? It's close enough that I can't do anything to her. It won't take more than five minutes."

Amelia felt overwhelmed by these complicated relationships. She nudged Henry. "Why don't you wait over there? Some things need to be cleared up. I don't want him bothering us anymore."

After thinking it over for the past few days, Alexander seemed calmer, unlike before when he was ready to blow up.

Besides, Alexander said he wanted to clear things up, and with Grace and Henry nearby, he wouldn't dare try anything.

Amelia gently squeezed Henry's hand. "Don't worry. You and Mom can wait over there. It's still Walter's funeral today; he won't dare do anything. Besides, I can handle myself."

Henry was still hesitant, but he respected Amelia's choice.

He frowned and gave Alexander a cold look. "I don't want any trouble, but if you're looking for it, I don't mind. Think it over."

Alexander found it kind of ironic. If this had been before and Henry talked to him like that, they would've already been throwing punches.
