Resuscitation and Revelation
Mandall looks on in shock. From Bethany’s wide eyes to Paul who’s on the floor.
He snaps out of it and pulls Bethany up from the ground, dialing a number as he rushes to pick Paul up. He slings him effortlessly over his shoulders and runs for his car, making a call to the hospital being on their way with THE Paul Worth, the owner’s family.
Bethany follows behind, instructing the other staffs around to attend to Gina who still wasn’t standing up after she fainted. She goes behind Mandall and opens the door for him when he drops Paul into the backseat, jumping into the passenger’s seat right after as Mandall tears off the grounds to the hospital.
The day is turning out to be a very spectacular one.
From Anastasia’s re-appearance to Paul’s resurgence? Or what could it be called?
“He is supposed to be dead.” Bethany whispers as she glances back to see Paul.
His face looks totally scarred and bruised, but its him alright.
“Just what the hell happened that night?” Mandall wonders aloud. “You know what, that is not even the question. Who died then? Who was buried?”
Bethany looks ahead, ashen, unable to answer the question. What if they had buried grandly the person who had tried to kill her parents?
They arrive at the hospital to see a stretcher waiting for them, they load Paul into it and drive into the hospital, Bethany following closely behind until they wheel him into the ICU and she has to stay outside.
She paces around, agitated.
When the doors open again, a doctor attends to her. “He will be fine. He has a couple of broken ribs and has been malnourished. We’ll be conducting an emergency surgery to remove the bone pieces that is placing pressure on some organs but other than that, Mr. Worth will be fine.”
Bethany breathes a sigh of relief, running her hands through her hair. At least, phase one is over.
“Mum will be so happy to hear the news. I know a lot more people who will, my uncle for example and that grumpy detective. I’ll inform Drake and then let the detective know. She may be rude but I guess she takes her job seriously.”
At the mention of Asha, Mandall’s mood slightly sours but he does not let it dampen Bethany’s joy. She seems happy and fulfilled… her family is back together and everything that happened just starts to seem like a bad dream.
It’s all good and nice but there is something nagging at the back of his head. He might have only been there a couple of times but he knows when something is wrong somewhere. Whose blood had been all over the walls? Who had the city’s forensics called Paul Worth then? Just what the hell is going on?
Bethany is currently too overjoyed to see beyond the mysteries now and he’s not about to ruin it for her.
“Give me a minute to make the calls. But, don’t you think mum would love to hear this?”
“Hm hm.” Mandall nods, pushing his fears to the back of his head, just for her.
“Come on then, lets tell her. I’m sure shell be furious with me if she finds out that I let her sleep through this. Come on.” She holds his hand, something he’s come to think of as reflex.
As their hands touch, she gets a wild flashback to just forty five minutes ago, what they had both being engaged in, intensely engaged in.
“Are you okay?” He asks her as she suddenly pauses in the middle of the hall, her hands getting a tad tighter on his.
“Uhm… I’m fine. We should head up… in uh… the elevator.”
Realizing what it is about, Mandall holds her hand, squeezing it gently. “You’re going to be my wife; it’ll be weirder if we didn’t have moments like that.”
She blushes slightly, seeing the massive difference between her hands and his. They completely cover hers. He is gentle and somehow cool, but there has to be more to him, he is a good kisser, and the memory of it has her sweating in more than one places. She is thinking too much… “Lets go up.” She bites her lower lip, trying to keep herself from getting lost in thought and focuses on the pain instead.
Mandall taps on the elevator door for them. Looks like they will be spending the whole day at the hospital. Mandall makes a mental note to let Sam know that he won’t be at work anymore. He was supposed to have gone out only briefly. Knowing Sam, he would have eaten the lunch he had sent him to get anyway.
That’s what happens when your secretary is the only friend you’ve got, the only one that knows the oddest things about you, and on that note, he has to keep her away from Sam for as much and for as long as possible.

Earlier, Drake enters into his car and punches the steering, making a sharp and loud, earning him a puzzled glance from another luxurious car owner who’s sitting at his wheel. “Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!” He yells frustratedly. “You should have kept your damned mouth shut until she was better at least.” His hair is all over the place and unkempt, his overall appearance not far from that of a habitual drug user, his eyes are red and bloodshot, not focusing in one place.
A wild look around him, his eyes dart around and around. “But you could not help it. For all you know, she could have orchestrate his death so no family of mine can claim any form of ownership. And now I am fired till I bring proof that I fucking didn’t kill my own brother!” He laughs derisively, hitting his head over and over again on the wheel. “This is so stupid and planned. Yes. Its completely planned between mother and daughter. How could I have been so stupid that I didn’t see it?”
He keeps on mumbling to himself and when Bethany comes back out, his mumblings stop and he focuses on her, frowning through the growing anger. “That bitch, she thinks she can throw me out just like that?” His hands reach out, feverishly to the door handle. “I’ll show her why I am her father’s brother and she can’t fucking look down on me like that.” He pulls open the door and gets off, just then, he sees a tall, handsome man run over to her side.
Immediately, Drake gets back in the car, closing the door back hurriedly to avoid been seen or spotted by all by any of the duo and, of course, to see what’s going on. “Who the hell is that man?” He asks himself as he towers above Bethany, holding her by the shoulders briefly, and then, he raises her into his hands, bridal style.
“Eh?” Drake mutters stupidly, watching the spectacle in front of him like it’s a romantic comedy movie. He shakes his head, watching silently as the mysterious man heads in the direction of the hospital doors, then he stops briefly, before turning around to his car.
Drake bends his head a little, knowing he’s right in Bethany’s line of sight, if she turns her head and looks, her eyes will immediately fall on him. As the man drops her and goes to enter the driver’s side, Drake catches a glimpse of his face, and it’s a rather familiar and yet familiar one.
“I can swear I have seen that man somewhere before… Fuck it, I can’t remember for the life of me.” He swears, pulling out of the parking lot a few seconds after they leave too so they won’t think he is following them or something.
He drives pretty much absent mindedly to his own home where his wife receives him as she always does but today, he’s thinking and lost in thoughts so he does not even have anything mean or snarky to say to her. He simply dumps everything in her hands and walk off to his study where he locks the door to prevent Amelia from coming in like she did in the morning.
He grabs himself a bottle of whiskey and drinks it raw, damning it all to hell anyway since he’s not exactly feeling himself anyway. As the liquid goes down his throat, he knocks it back, closing his eyes tight. He falls into the long couch and sighs, opening his eyes. Almost like a switch goes off in his head, he snaps up.
“I remember. I fucking remember…” He yells, pulling out his phone from his back pocket and looks up a sentence. ‘The Hall company.’
The search engine does its job, and right there, the face he had seen earlier, a smaller and unsmiling version of him, pops right up.
Drake laughs evilly, letting the laughter overwhelm him. “Our to be CEO, is fraternizing with the enemy… Our immediate rival? Mandall Hall?” He gasps dramatically, the drink starting to take its toll on his logical faculty. “What if he’s the one she wants to marry? S
he wants to marry the enemy… Hahahaha.”
