Chapter 127: Chapter 127
Chase and Logan had just arrived home. Although they'd had so much fun at the amusement park, Chase couldn't stop thinking about what had happened earlier. The more he replayed it in his head, the guiltier he felt. He knew he'd let his jealousy get the better of him, and the last thing he ever wanted was to make Logan feel like he couldn't trust him.
The moment they stepped into the bedroom, Logan shrugged off his jacket and tossed it onto the bed.
"I'm going to take a shower." He said, turning toward the bathroom.
Before he could take another step, Chase hurried after him and wrapped both arms around his waist from behind, resting his forehead gently against Logan's back.
"I'm sorry, baby." He murmured.
Logan froze for a brief moment.
He let out a quiet sigh.
Truthfully, Chase's reaction at the amusement park had hurt him a little. Not because Chase had been jealous, but because it had felt like he didn't trust him. Still, he had no desire to turn it into a bigger argument.
Chase slowly loosened his hold and stepped around until he was standing in front of Logan.
His hands settled on Logan's waist once more as he searched his eyes.
"I wasn't trying to control who you can be friends with." He said sincerely. "I was just... worried."
He paused before admitting the truth.
"And jealous."
A sheepish smile appeared on his lips.
"I didn't like how close he was standing to you... or how happy you looked talking to him."
He lowered his gaze for a second.
"I'm really sorry, my love. I never wanted to upset you."
Logan looked at him quietly before lifting a hand to gently stroke his cheek.
"But you know there's nothing for you to be jealous about."
His voice was soft and filled with affection.
"I can't even imagine myself with anyone else." A warm smile spread across his face. "That's how much I love you, Chase. Liam is just an old friend. Nothing more."
Chase nodded. "I know." He sighed. "I really do know."
He gave Logan an apologetic smile.
"Please don't be mad at me."
He finished with an exaggerated pout that made him look more adorable than guilty.
Logan couldn't stop himself from smiling.
"How am I supposed to stay mad at you when you're making that face?"
He reached up and gently pinched Chase's cheek.
"You look ridiculous."
Chase grinned. "So... you're not mad anymore?"
"I'm not." Logan replied, then he leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss against his lips.
"I love you, Chase."
He rested his forehead against Chase's.
"So try to remember that whenever your jealousy starts talking."
Chase smiled, his heart feeling lighter. "I love you more, Logan."
Logan intertwined their fingers and began leading him toward the bathroom.
Halfway there, he glanced back over his shoulder with a playful sparkle in his eyes.
"We should shower together...'' He paused just long enough to make Chase curious. "And maybe do something more." He finished with a teasing wink.
The look in Chase's eyes changed instantly. "Oh?"
A grin slowly spread across his face.
The moment they stepped into the bathroom, he reached for Logan with an eagerness that made Logan burst into laughter.
"Easy, Chase!"
Logan laughed, trying unsuccessfully to dodge him.
Chase only chuckled. "I've been waiting to make up with my boyfriend properly all afternoon."
Logan shook his head, still laughing. "You're impossible."
"And yet." Chase replied with a wink. "You still love me."
"I do." Logan admitted without hesitation.
Their laughter echoed through the bathroom as the door closed behind them.
Later that night....
The apartment had long fallen silent.
The only sounds filling the bedroom were the steady rhythm of the rain tapping gently against the windows and the soft breathing of Chase and Logan sleeping peacefully in each other's arms.
Logan was nestled comfortably against Chase's chest, one of Chase's arms securely wrapped around his waist while Logan's rested lazily over Chase's torso.
Suddenly...
Logan's phone rang.
The sharp sound shattered the quiet atmosphere of the room.
Chase let out a sleepy groan, tightening his hold around Logan for a brief second, but he didn't open his eyes.
Logan frowned in his sleep.
He ignored the call, hoping whoever it was would simply give up.
The ringing stopped, only to begin again almost immediately.
Chase buried his face deeper into Logan's neck.
"Baby..." He mumbled, his voice thick with sleep. "Maybe you should get that."
Logan groaned softly.
He couldn't imagine who would be calling him this late at night.
Reluctantly, he opened his eyes.
Still half asleep, he reached toward the bedside table and grabbed his phone.
Just as he picked it up... The ringing stopped.
He rubbed at his sleepy eyes before unlocking the screen.
The first thing he noticed was the time.
12:00 A.M.
His brows furrowed slightly.
He checked the missed call.
The number wasn't saved. There wasn't even a name attached to it.
"Who could this be...?" He murmured quietly.
Before he could think any further, the phone vibrated in his hand.
A text message appeared on the screen.
"Hey, Logan, it's Liam. I hope I didn't wake you up, and I'm sorry if I did, but I wanted to reach out since I said I would. I'm sorry it took this long to text you, I got caught up in other things."
Logan blinked in surprise. "Liam..."
Another vibration followed almost immediately.
A second message arrived.
"If it's okay with you, I'd like for us to hang out soon. Let me know when you're free. Please text me back when you see this. Once again, I'm sorry for bothering you.''
Logan quietly read through both messages again, then he sighed.
His thumb hovered over the keyboard.
He wanted to reply, but he hesitated.
Slowly, he turned his head.
Chase was still fast asleep beside him.
Logan's expression softened.
Although Chase had apologized earlier, he knew how uneasy Liam made him feel.
He also knew Chase probably wouldn't like the idea of them spending time together. But Liam hadn't actually done anything wrong. He was simply an old friend. Someone he hadn't seen in years.
Logan couldn't see any harm in reconnecting with him.
After another thoughtful sigh, he finally began typing.
"Of course we can hang out. I'm free tomorrow. Let's meet."
He read the message one last time before pressing Send.
A few seconds later, he locked his phone and placed it back on the bedside table, then he settled back beneath the covers.
Without thinking, he gently took Chase's arm and wrapped it around his waist again.
Almost instinctively...
Chase shifted closer in his sleep.
His arm tightened around Logan protectively as he buried his face into the crook of Logan's neck.
Logan smiled to himself.
Even asleep...
Chase always found him.
His heart warmed at the thought.
He reached up and lightly brushed his fingers through Chase's hair.
"Goodnight." He whispered so softly it was almost inaudible.
Then he closed his eyes once more.
Within moments, he fell asleep again, completely unaware that the simple message he'd just sent would set into motion a chain of events that would change both their lives forever.
