Chapter 3.

She was careful and I was aggressive.

She had a little pathetic look on her face, but it felt like I was bullying her.

"I'm not mad, I just thought I had some things to take care of, so I'll leave you guys to eat."

I smiled bashfully and was about to leave with my bag.

"Diane, you're not still mad at Oliver for going off to fly a private jet with Halfsia, are you?"

Benjamin opened his mouth with a grin, looking at me with a look full of provocation and derision.

Hearing him bring it up, Victoria spoke up, "I'm sorry Diane, I was in a bad mood that day and Oliver did what he did."

"Oliver, just explain and apologize to Diane."

Oliver sniffed and frowned: "Explain what? I just took you on a private flight for once, what's there to apologize for?"

He made the atmosphere in the room freeze as soon as he opened his mouth.

Victoria hooked her lips at me where he couldn't see them, looking at me provocatively, asserting her sovereignty.

No matter what, Oliver can do no wrong.

It would only be me, Diane, who would be wrong.

Just like before, he never realizes his mistakes.

Just feel free to give me a little step and I'll go along for the ride.

I guffawed at that:- "Yeah, you're right, the name Victoria looks pretty good written down in clouds."

With that, I left without looking back.

The moment the door closed, I heard Victoria's voice, "Oliver, go after him and apologize, Diane's obviously pissed."

"Don't mind her, she'll be fine in a few days."

Still, his words were cold and pierced my already hole-ridden heart.

But this time, I won't stay where I am.

I walked slowly out the front door of the hotel.

The cold wind whistled by, and I hugged myself tightly as I walked alone through the noisy streets.

The road was full of couples in pairs, who tucked their hands into each other's pockets and huffed and puffed at each other to keep them warm and in love.

And to think, before Victoria came back, Oliver and I were just like them.

Holding hands tightly and unwilling to let go, with only the other's figure in their eyes.

So why on earth did it turn out the way it did?

My breathing was dull and a little breathless.

I saw that they were selling iced zucchini on the side of the road, and after two seconds of thought, I went to buy one.

The moment Ice Cube was in his hands, he remembered in a trance what he had said.

"You have cavities and still eat candy? You're such an adult and you still have a craving?"

I took a bite and it wasn't sweet at all.

Sour with bitterness, like a fruit that has rotted away.

"Boss, you're not getting the right flavor of ice cream." My voice trembled.

The owner looked at me and handed me a piece of paper, "Girl, wipe your tears before you talk."

I touched my cheeks, wet and moist, and my mouth tasted bitter.

I wiped my face with my sleeve and walked quickly back home.

Just got home and Oliver came with a message.

"Look at the time, you should be home by now to."

I looked at it and scratched out of the chat box without replying.

It didn't take long for him to send another message over, "Everyone's not in the mood to eat after you left today, after all, it's someone's birthday, so let's invite them back in a few days to make amends with them."

I still haven't replied.

Fifteen minutes later, the call came in.

I didn't answer it and grabbed my clothes and went to the bathroom.

The bell was ringing off the hook and I turned the water on as loud as it would go to drown it out.

When I came out of the wash, there were over a dozen missed calls on my cell phone, and I deleted the call log one by one.

Before I went to bed, I opened my friends circle out of habit and Victoria posted it, the time showed just now.

Oliver is supposed to be drunk and he's sitting in the back seat of the car with Victoria.

The photo shows him lazily leaning back in his car seat with his eyes closed, while Victoria is leaning on his shoulder, smiling and looking at the camera Biehl.

The accompanying text reads: I can't believe I'm still your first choice after all these years.

My lips curled into a self-deprecating smile and I replied to her with a "100 years."
