Chapter 209: 209
I blinked, tilting my head to the side, and shrugged my shoulders.
So that was why she pulled that stunt this afternoon? And the whole 'I trust only Gordon’ too?
Wow.
I should be surprised, but this was Blair; only she could come up with crazy ideas. Well, she and Thomas. They would have been a good team if he didn't want her dead.
"Right, sure." I replied, rolling my eyes as I ran my fingers through a difficult knot in my hair.
"Didn't you hear me? I said, Gordon is mine." Blair frowned, puffing out her chest. "I'm going to make him my boyfriend—"
"I heard you the first time. You don't have to repeat yourself," I rolled my eyes, and her scowl deepened.
"Aren't you going to fight me? Another woman is staking claim on your man, and you're just dumbly sitting and brushing your hair? You can't even stake your claim. You really don't deserve him if you can't fight for him like a real woman."
"Why should I fight for something that is already mine and can never be yours?" I asked, arching a brow, and she stiffened.
"Don't be so cocky. Gordon is just managing you; he's not truly interested in someone like you," she snapped.
"And you think it's you that can pique his interest?" I snorted.
"Of course I am. I'm a man magnet. I can take any man I like, including Gordon. Look at me; I'm more beautiful, smarter, and talented than you. Guys adore me and see you as trash. You're always trash. You can never compare to me—"
"Enough, Blair," I huffed, setting my brush down, and I glared at her.
Her crazy ideas? I could listen. She would only end up humiliating herself, and honestly, they were amusing. But insulting me was where I drew the lines.
"Don't you have any shame? You're carrying a man's child, yet you're still flirting with another one. And worse, the person you're trying to get his attention doesn't care about you. You can't tell me you don't know Gordon doesn't like you, yet you're shamelessly throwing yourself at him. It was embarrassing watching you try to make him notice you when he was obviously uncomfortable and disgusted. Don't you have any feminine dignity to walk away when you're not wanted? Or are you too dense to realise that?" I snapped, and she jerked back, like my words had physically wounded her.
"You... you... you're just trying to undermine me. You're trying to make me feel like I'm incapable because you're afraid of me. Yes, you're afraid of me," she blurted, nodding her head like she was trying to convince herself, and her lips curled into a huge smirk. "You think I won't see through your act, huh? This just proves that I'm way more ahead than you'll ever be. Say the truth, Iris; you know that Gordon became mine the moment I said it, but you don't want to admit it because you're afraid it will end up like how it did between you and Thomas. Honestly, I don't blame you. You're up against me. You're trying to make me insecure because you're actually insecure and jealous that I can snatch any man I want from you."
"I don't think you should be bragging about stealing Thomas away from me. Look at your life now. What good did you get from marrying that pig? You're here because he wanted to kill you. He doesn't care if you're carrying his child. You're nothing to him. And the saddest part is that he was still trying to get me, the woman that he supposedly left for you, into his bed. Even when he thought your life is in danger." I scoffed and walked up to her, standing right in her face and looking her dead in the eyes. "So, Blair, did you really steal him away from me, or did he take advantage of you being so cheap?"
"I... I... You... I..." she stuttered, tears welling up in her eyes.
"And it's crazy you think Gordon is like Thomas. Even a blind person can see the difference between the man and the boy. Thomas is a man-child that thinks with what's in his pants. Gordon uses his head and heart. He understands loyalty and respect. I can bet with my life that he will never cheat on me. Never ever. Even in your dreams he won't, and especially with someone like you. He isn't going to leave me at the altar like Thomas did. He loves me, I love him too, and we're going to start a family. So quit whatever crazy game you're playing, because you're only going to waste your time and energy and end up empty."
Blair stood frozen, lips trembling and tears gushing down her flushed face. My heart clenched but my empathy remained hidden under my stern gaze.
She needed the truth, and the truth was never always nice to hear. She needed to get rid of the silly delusional or get ready to face whatever Gordon planned for her if she continued to pursue him. And I could bet it was going to hurt a lot more than me being harsh.
"Let's go downstairs for dinner," I sighed, walking past her, but she grabbed my arm.
"Yes?" I asked.
"W... why?" She mumbled and I scrunched my brows.
"Wh—"
"Why do you think you deserve him more than me? Why the fuck do you think you deserve a better life than mine?!" She screamed in my face, and I flinched.
