Chapter 15: He found me!
Vivian
For the past couple of days, I’ve been indoor swimming in job openings, and applying to as many as I can daily. There has been only little to no feedback at all but I didn’t let that get to me or discourage me.
Everyday, I forget about the previous day and go into the new day with full force. It’s been long I did this. I’ve always worked at my current place since I finished college. I interned there and I went back there after college. I got the job and have been there ever since, giving it my all onky to be discarded like I never even mattered.
I heaved a deep sigh as I scrolled through the job openings again. I don’t even bother if I fit in the qualifications or not anymore. I just need a job that will get me some money so I can move on with my life and plans. I’ve been selling off my luxurious shoes and bags to get by, but at this point, I will soon have nothing left to sell.
“I need a way out really really soon.” I muttered under my breath as I refreshed the page.
Just then, I got a text notification but it was from a strange number. I was skeptical at first so I ignored but then, I got another text and that immediately got my attention.
“I know you’re ignoring me. I would too and trust me, I didn’t want to do this but I just couldn’t get over that kiss. I’ve replayed it every day since that night.” I sat up immediately and read the text over and over again as if it was a language I didn’t understand, or that if I read it long enough, it would change. Well, it didn’t and the text could mean only one thing.
“Still don’t believe it’s me?” Another text came on.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, please leave me alone.” I replied and I got a response almost immediately.
“Check the attached.”
I quickly checked and it was a picture of my mask from the masked party.
It really is him!
“Do you believe me now or do you need more proof?”
I didn’t need anymore proof. No one saw us kiss that night because it was in a corner so if he knew, then it’s him because it’s between just us. Also, I left the mask in his hands because when our masks got entangled, mine pulled and hung on his own so he was the one who removed it. I didn’t wait to get it back and just ran off.
“I can’t believe this, how on earth did you find me?” I asked.
“Well, a magician doesn’t reveal his tricks so let’s just say that I have my way around this things. I was worried that night that you didn’t wait. I was going to get your contact but you apparently had other plans. Why did you run off like that though?” He asked while I smiled as if he could see my expression over the chat.
“Like you said, a magician doesn’t reveal his tricks so let’s just say I have my reasons for leaving.” I replied and he sent a couple of laugh emotions.
“I can’t believe you’re using my own words against me right now and besides, it’s not the same thing but I already know you’re not going to tell me tonight. Maybe some other time when you’re more free with me.” He replied and I chuckled.
Is he trying to say he’s going to pursue this? And why is he so sure like he knows me that well?
“It seems to me like you’re a bit proud. Why do you seem so sure this will go beyond tonight and that I’ll be more free with you?” I quizzed.
“Well, I’m not a bit proud. I’m actually proud but mine isn’t the bad one. It’s just confidence. You see, I know what I want and once I see it, I go for it and I’m not one to back down until I have it. That’s just the definition of my own kind of pride. You see, it’s not all bad like you think.” He asked.
“I don’t even know what to say right now but you should know that I’m quite proud too. I don’t get moved easily.”
“That’s exactly how I like my woman. You just made me more passionate about this!”
I burst into laughter when I saw the part where he called me his woman. I was intrigued by his words, but other than that, I don’t think he’s getting anything.
“So you’re not going to tell me how you found me?” I changed the topic and he cleared his throat.
“Well, just because I can’t resist you, I will tell you but not tonight. Ask me again when we go on our first date and I’ll tell you.” He replied and it seemed like a good idea to me.
“Fair enough… but don’t think I didn’t notice how you threw in a first date in there. You’re not being smart, I just allowed it.” I cleared.
“And I’m glad you did. Trust me, you’re going to be the one asking for a second date.”
“That’s not a problem. I’m not to shy away from asking for another good time. Once I’m well impressed the first time, I won’t hesitate to ask for another one.” I replied.
We went on chatting and the flow was so amazing. I didn’t even know the time was far spent. It was when I turned to the other side that I saw the alarm clock and realized it was already midnight.
I was really enjoying the conversation so I didn’t complain, and just went along. There was no boring moment with him either, he always has something to talk about, and that made it so much fun.
We ended up chatting all night and I was the one begging to leave when I couldn’t control the sleep anymore. My eyelids were already gluing to each other and my fingers were aching from the hours of typing…
