Chapter 541
After this tiger's roar, even more audience members fled, and screams rose and fell throughout the venue.
The bodyguards closed in further.
Almost every one of them was equipped with a tranquilizer gun, originally intended to subdue drug users who were high.
But no one expected they'd now have to use them against this beast before their eyes.
The leader was Liam.
He was dressed in a suit, yet held a tranquilizer pistol in his hand.
This type of pistol was slightly larger than a regular handgun.
"Sir, I trust your animal is well-behaved, but unfortunately, she's now on the edge of going wild. Please leave this to us." Liam remained very calm.
This composure even drew sidelong glances from the other bodyguards.
After all, this Lumarian man looked so refined and gentle - no one would have imagined he could stay so calm facing a raging beast.
The trainer glanced at the gun in his hand, then looked back at Jessica the tiger, who was already drooling, his eyes filled with struggle and despair.
"I... she's always been so obedient. I've been raising her since the day after she was born, she really..." He shook his head, speaking in almost pleading tones.
The trainer was now lost in his own world, completely failing to notice that Jessica was still closing in step by step.
She stared intently at the trainer, her eyes flashing with fierce green light, breathing heavily through her nose, her low growls striking straight at the heart.
Liam kept his eyes on Jessica the whole time, completely ignoring the trainer. Seeing this scene, he fired a shot directly at the tiger's shoulder!
After the shot hit, the tiger's emotions clearly escalated even more. She roared and swiped forward with her paw!
The trainer reacted quickly, probably because he'd spent so much time with the tiger and was very familiar with tiger attacks.
When Jessica roared, he instinctively dodged this deadly strike with a smooth and swift movement.
But even so, his shoulder was still grazed by the tiger's claws. His flesh split open instantly, blood gushing out in spurts. In just a moment, his entire arm was stained red with blood.
The instant Liam fired, the other bodyguards also immediately fired their tranquilizer guns!
Several soft sounds, and the bodyguards had already shot all their tranquilizer darts.
The tranquilizer dose each person carried wasn't much - after all, no one had originally planned to use these things to tranquilize a tiger.
So even though all the tranquilizer doses had been administered, the tiger before them only staggered slightly, showing no signs of passing out.
"Mr. Reyes, what do we do now?" A bodyguard moved closer to Liam, asking with a grave expression.
Liam looked toward the trainer who had been pulled aside by everyone for emergency bandaging.
The trainer's face was now pale. Even though he was forcing himself not to cry out in pain, his teeth were clenched tight and he couldn't get a word out.
"Looks like we don't need to - she's lying down!" At this moment, another bodyguard pointed at the tiger in front of them and spoke in surprise.
After he finished speaking, he looked at the tiger lying on the ground licking her body, then at the tranquilizer gun in his hand, frowning deeply, probably unable to figure out how such a small dose times ten could actually bring down a tiger.
Hearing his shout, the trainer immediately looked toward the stage. Seeing that Jessica had regained her senses, he breathed a sigh of relief.
But when the trainer's eyes met Liam's, his emotions became agitated again.
"Sir! Please believe me! Jessica has never attacked anyone before. Something definitely went wrong this time!" He desperately wanted to find a way out for his tiger.
But Liam still ignored him.
He walked to the edge of the stage, crouched down and pinched up some powder with his fingers.
The powder was white, fine and inconspicuous.
Liam brought his powder-covered finger to his nose and sniffed. He had to get very close to smell the pungent odor.
He immediately frowned, stood up and walked toward the trainer. "What is this stuff?"
The trainer had thought his tiger was doomed, but seeing that this stern gentleman didn't seem to plan on doing anything to his tiger and was instead investigating something.
Hearing Liam's question, he immediately understood, and quickly leaned in to smell.
Standing up abruptly pulled at his shoulder, and the trainer's face went even paler, but soon he recovered, leaned close to Liam's extended finger, and took a deep sniff.
"This... should be some kind of chemical. The smell is awful - it might be what made Jessica go crazy!" However, the trainer didn't know what this stuff actually was either. After answering with a frown, he quickly added another sentence, as if doing so would keep his tiger alive.
Hearing this, Liam kept a straight face and had someone collect a small bottle of this powder.
"Who was that clown just now?" The powder was spread almost evenly around the edge of the stage. Liam immediately thought of the clown who had suddenly appeared mid-performance.
Even though he'd never watched a circus performance before, he could be almost certain that no one would arrange for a clown to come liven up the atmosphere during an animal act.
After all, animal performances were the most worth watching part of circus shows.
Although in recent years there had always been people making noise about rejecting animal performances and strictly prohibiting forcing animals to perform.
But honestly, there would always be people who paid for animal performances, and among these people might even be those who loudly called for rejecting animal performances.
Hearing Liam ask about the clown, the trainer was also full of anger. "He's a variety performer we found temporarily after we got here. Who knew what his problem was, suddenly rushing in during my performance!"
The trainer was furious. While herding Jessica into her cage, he turned to speak to Liam. "As soon as he came on stage, Jessica became extremely agitated! He definitely has something to do with this!"
Hearing this, Liam glanced at a nearby bodyguard.
The bodyguard nodded, took his gun and went behind the curtain.
But he came out quickly, bringing only the boss with him.
"Sir, that clown just ran away. We couldn't catch him at all. He had accomplices! I'm telling you! He was definitely sent by a competitor to cause trouble for me!"
Liam listened to the boss's complaints, frowning somewhat irritably.
Just then, several bodyguards who should have been outside protecting Alice and the others walked in through the main entrance. One of them was holding a rabbit balloon.
Liam found the balloon somewhat familiar, and after looking carefully, he realized it was the balloon that the clown had asked the little boy to give to Alice.
As the balloon appeared, Jessica, locked in her cage, became agitated and excited again.
