Chapter 53

“No! Please!” Percy begged as he felt tears filling his eyes.

“Guess what I’m going to do to you now?” Jacob whispered in Percy’s ear. “It’s going to be so beautiful, sweetheart. First, I’ll inject you with some feel-good drugs to knock you out. Then I’ll strip you naked and put my hard, leaking dick inside your omega pussy. Right before I come, I’ll bite down on your mating gland and claim you as my mate. Since you will be unconscious when I do that, you won’t be able to fight it off. The bond will definitely succeed. You won’t be able to escape me again. Ever. We will be together for the rest of our lives. Just the two of us, sweetheart. Isn’t that perfect?”

“No! You can’t do that! You’re…you’re fucking crazy.”

Jacob burst out laughing. “It doesn’t matter. We will be mated in a matter of minutes. Jacob and Percy. Together forever.”

Percy attempted to break free once again, but he couldn’t move. Judging by Jacob’s size, the beta outweighed him by at least thirty pounds. He did his best not to sob like a baby, but he was frightened. Just when he thought all hope was lost, he heard a fierce growling. It sounded familiar, but he was in too much pain, and he still felt dizzy from his beating. Nevertheless, he managed to turn around. He wept in relief when he saw Diego choking Jacob with one hand, all the while repeatedly slamming the beta against the wall. However, he didn’t want Diego to end up in jail for killing Jacob. That was the moment he noticed Rohan rushing toward him. Rohan gently lifting him up even though the alpha was obviously enraged.

“Baby, are you okay?”

Percy nodded weakly. “G-get Diego. Don’t let h-him murder Jake.”

“Jake deserves to die.”

Percy shook his head. “But Diego will be p-prosecuted for that. Ro, baby, please. I don’t want to lose either of you.”

Rohan hesitated. “Fine. Just lie here for a minute.”

Percy tried to grin reassuringly at Rohan, but he ached everywhere. His vision suddenly grew dimmer. The last thing he remembered seeing was Rohan dashing toward Diego and Jacob. There were also the concerned expressions on Gregory’s and Ashton’s faces as they raced toward Percy, and the sight of several police officers in uniform pointing their guns at Diego, Jacob, and Rohan. After that, the darkness overtook him. 13

It had been nearly five weeks since Percy was discharged from the hospital. After his ordeal with Jacob, he was healing nicely all things considered. Jacob had been charged and imprisoned for kidnapping and severely injuring Percy. This time around, the news couldn’t be contained, and the fans were outraged on Percy’s behalf. As a result, Percy had received multiple bouquets of flowers and several other gifts, along with encouraging e-mails and letters. There were also plenty of positive comments on Percy’s social media accounts. Diego was amused by the fans’ obvious love and loyalty toward Percy. Rohan was more wary because he was worried one or more of Percy’s fans might turn into yet another Jacob.

“Babe,” Percy said, glaring at Rohan. “Stop staring at me like that. I know you’re concerned about me, but I’m fine now. Can you just go outside and take care of our customers, please? The café is busy, and Diego can’t handle everything on his own. Let me work in the kitchen in peace. You’re starting to get on my nerves. I can’t bake anything up to my exacting standards when I’m so agitated.”

It looked like Rohan was going to protest, but Percy narrowed his eyes at the alpha. Rohan sighed and nodded.

“Fine. Holler if you need me.”

Percy smiled. “All right. Thanks, baby.”

“You’re welcome.”

Rohan stepped out of the kitchen and helped Diego with the customers. The reading café was successful, and Rohan was certain most of the customers were only there because they were hoping they would get to meet Percy. It didn’t matter, As long as they bought some food and drinks, they could stick around for as long as they wanted.

“Did Percy kick you out?” Diego asked, grinning at Rohan.

Rohan scowled. “Yeah.”

Diego chuckled. “Give him some space, babe. Besides, he’s healing nicely so far.”

“Thanks to you,” Rohan said. “I don’t want to imagine what might have happened to Percy otherwise.”

He shuddered as he recalled that fateful day. He, Diego, Gregory, and Ashton had tailed the police cars, found out from Jacob’s brother that the two of them had inherited an old warehouse from one of their grandfathers, and rushed to that building ahead of the police to rescue Percy.

“You would have done the same thing.”

“No. My anger would have gotten the best of me,” Rohan said. “I would have killed that son of a bitch if I had reached him before you did. I thought I was good at holding my temper. After all, I used to work at a bar where the majority of the patrons were alphas. You were even better at controlling yourself than me. You only choked him until he fainted.”

“I beat him up quite badly, as well.”

“He deserved that, and so much more,” Rohan said.
