Chapter 40

Later that afternoon, the two alphas accompanied Percy to the studio, but only Rohan stayed behind to look after their omega. Diego told Percy he had to meet James because he had to pay for the deposit on the building they wanted to purchase, and he would also start discussing the renovations with the contractor he had in mind. Consequently, he would be busy for several hours. He wasn’t lying, but he didn’t tell the whole truth either.
Earlier at lunch, he and Rohan had agreed to divide the duties between them. Rohan would be in charge of looking after Percy’s well-being while Diego would do all of the other tasks, which included planning for their first official date. This time, he was determined it would be a success. He didn’t want a repeat of breakfast of a few days earlier. Instead of preparing the food himself, he would choose the easy way out by calling for takeout. All he had to do was decorate the car so they could enjoy a romantic dinner together.
“Do you think you’ll be done before dinner?” Percy asked as he carried a few containers of breakfast leftovers out of the car, leaving the majority for Rohan to carry.
“Not sure, Perce,” Diego answered. “I’ll do my best, though.”
“There may not be any food left if you arrive after the dinner hour,” Percy said. “Plenty of hungry alphas, betas, and omegas in there with huge appetites.”
Diego chuckled. “It’s fine. I can always buy us more food if necessary.”
Percy nodded. “That will be great. Call me when you’re on the way back to the studio.”
“I will,” Diego promised before hugging Percy and then Rohan. “Keep our omega safe, man.”
Rohan, not surprisingly, had no expression on his face. “I will. You better get back here in time for dinner.”
Diego grinned. “Fine. No need to sound so threatening.”
“Don’t spoil it.”
“Spoil what?” Percy asked, looking bewildered.
“Nothing,” Diego said quickly, silently cursing Rohan. “I think Rohan is worried I’m going to miss dinner, and the three of us may end up eating at, like, nine or ten or something.”
Percy smiled and turned to Rohan. “I’m sure that won’t happen.”
Rohan frowned at Diego. “Probably.”
Diego was tempted to roll his eyes, but he refrained. “Okay. Have to go now. Later.”
Then Rohan and Percy bade farewell to Diego before they made their way into the studio. Diego observed his potential mates for a few seconds longer before leaving the compound. He made sure to take care of all the tasks related to their new building as quickly as possible. After that, he stopped by a specialty store and purchased the things he required before he decorated the inside of the car right outside of the store.
He didn’t go overboard, though. He would ensure everything looked classy and beautiful. Or at least he hoped so. He even rearranged the leather seats and the table. When he was finished, the table was in the center of the car while the seats were positioned all around the table. He checked the time and realized it was nearly half past six. As the car headed back toward the studio, Diego called up his favorite diner and ordered burgers, fries, salads, and sodas. Everything would be delivered to the studio just in time for their first official dinner date, and Diego would be there to accept the food and drinks. Nothing could go wrong. Diego was determined the date would go smoothly.

“My, my, my! Percy, you’re one lucky omega.”
Percy rolled his eyes at Ashton. “Shut up, and stop ogling Rohan like a piece of meat.”
Gregory smirked at Percy. “Jealous?”
Percy scoffed. “Not at all.”
“Liar,” Ashton retorted.
“Nope. Just look at Rohan,” Percy shot back. “He has his eyes on me, and nobody else.”
Gregory approached Rohan and stood right in front of the alpha, who was sitting in one of the chairs in the corner of Percy’s dressing room. He leaned down and smiled at Rohan.
“Do you think I’m gorgeous?”
Percy watched as Rohan stared at Gregory, but the alpha had no expression on his face. Not that Percy would expect anything else.
“Yes,” Rohan replied.
“Do I smell good to you?”
“Yes, but you’re not Percy, and I’m not interested in you. If you’re that desperate to get fucked by an alpha, I’m sure your mate will be willing to satisfy you. I can smell your alpha all over you. There’s also the huge and deep mating bite on your neck that can only be accomplished by an alpha.”
Percy choked a little at Rohan’s bluntness before he laughed at Gregory’s annoyed expression. Gregory glared at Rohan before walking back toward Percy and Ashton.
