Chapter 204
Eve’s POV
Before I could figure it out, a series of loud noises suddenly came from afar.
Only the rumbling sounds followed one after another, as if tens of thousands of trains were running on the road.
The next second, the ground suddenly shook. For a moment, I lost my balance and fell hard to the ground.
"Oh no!"
Could it be that an earthquake occurred earlier?
It seems that there is a predestined arrangement.
Even if everything starts all over again, nothing will change.
Vehicles around began to collide in a chain reaction, and people's screams rose and fell in succession.
I didn't care much and could only run towards the apartment. Even if there was a one in ten thousand chance that Vicky and the others were at home, I must rescue her.
But it was really hard to move during the earthquake. I fell down five or six times before I finally regained my balance.
"Vicky!!" I shouted loudly towards the upstairs.
I climbed up the tenth floor frantically along the safety passage.
Under the huge shaking, the apartment began to have a large number of cracks.
Los Angeles is a coastal city prone to frequent earthquakes, which can cause cracks to quickly appear in solid apartment buildings, with an earthquake intensity of at least magnitude 8!
Vicky! Can you hear me? "!" I shouted again.
The entire building was shaking, and the loud noise soon drowned out my voice.
I steadied myself and continued running upstairs.
However, earthquakes can cause a disorder in the balance of normal people, not to mention running up the stairs. I only felt my legs covered with bruises from the bumps, but I still kept climbing up using both my hands and feet."
I've read the news that the strongest earthquakes usually last for only a very short period of time, at most no more than three minutes.
But I felt that the entire ground had been shaking for nearly five minutes, yet still showed no sign of stopping.
What a huge earthquake this must be?
Finally, I arrived at the tenth floor, dragging my body full of scars.
People are swaying, hands are swaying, buildings are swaying.
Everything in the field of vision was shaking. In the distance, there were still a lot of loud noises coming, and even the sound of glass breaking.
Damn it! Damn it!"
I held the key in both hands and finally inserted it into the lock.
With a "click", the door opened.
Vicky!! Luke!! Are you there? I let out a loud cry, but the room was quiet.
Something instantly occurred to me.
There was no response in the room. There was only one possibility.
They had gone out long ago.
Without a word, I was about to turn and leave, but suddenly I remembered the call Vicky had made.
They might be sleeping in the room!
I absolutely can't leave Vicky behind.
Vicky! Are you there?
I pushed the door open and entered the room. It was empty and no one was speaking.
"Not here. Could it be in the bedroom?"
The moment I pushed open the door, a look of relief appeared on my face. There was no one in the bedroom. All I could see was a desk and a chair.
I was just about to turn and run away when I suddenly froze on the spot as if struck by a bolt from the blue.
It seems something is not quite right.
A creepy feeling gradually rose in my heart, making my hair stand on end and leaving me unable to calm down for a long time.
In the midst of the huge earthquake, I turned my head blankly and took a look at this strange "bedroom".
Why is there only one table and one chair?
Where's the bed?
I completely ignored the tiny fragments falling from the ceiling and walked to the desk at a leisurely pace. In my memory, there was a photo of me and Vicky on the desk.
But when I approached and picked up that photo, I found that there was only a dazed self in the picture.
I stood by the sea, looking at the camera expressionlessly, and took this lonely photo.
"Vicky... ?"
It seemed that I had lost my mind. The sense of balance I had just found vanished completely.
I felt as if the world was spinning around me, and I was back in a state of stumbling with every step. I fell countless times before I finally reached the living room.
Here is a single sofa and a small dining table for one person.
There wasn't even a seat prepared for a second person in this room.
"Are you kidding...?" I gave a hint of a desperate smile, "Are you kidding me..." ? "!"
He remembered something again and hurriedly climbed to the door, where there was a small shoe cabinet.
I gritted my teeth hard and opened the door of the shoe cabinet.
There was only a pair of ladies' high heels inside. There were neither Luke's shoes nor Vicky's shoes.
From the inside out, there was no trace of Vicky and Luke having lived in this room at all.
I suddenly lost all my strength and plopped down on the ground.
All the scenes with Vicky and Luke are still vivid in my mind.
The scent on them, the warmth of their palms, every detail I remember clearly.
I kept calling, but their phone number was no longer unreachable; instead, it had become disconnected!
I can't figure it out.
All of this is too terrifying.
They... Doesn't exist?
"Impossible..." My eyes suddenly became resolute. He could clearly recall countless times with Vicky and Luke, and also remember every day of their life together.
They can't possibly not exist.
"Mom, do you know?" " Vicky's voice echoed in her mind, "Things will always get better."
I suddenly stood up, standing firm in the shaking room, and walked towards the bedroom again. Without a word, I opened the wardrobe.
Among the numerous clothes is an old photo album.
I opened the photo album and turned to the photo of Vicky when she was ten. I saw that coin, that lucky coin, the one that was supposed to have a coin but was taken away by me to participate in the first Eden Island game, a coin that I put back with my own hands.
"Damn it... I see... I raised my head coldly and looked out of the window, "The place of the End"... Are you trying to drive me crazy? Do you want me to think I'm crazy?
I slowly stood up, my expression carrying an unprecedented hatred.
"Even if you are 'gods', I still want you to return Vicky and Luke to me!"
Hardly had the words been spoken when I saw huge cracks cracking in the sky outside the window. The cracks were pitch black, just like an endless universe.
At this moment, the entire ceiling collapsed with a thunderous crash. With a deafening sound that seemed to destroy the world, I was crushed hard under the rocks.
