Chapter 58: NIGHTMARISH

It's almost three days since Stacy was crowned as our Luna and so far, everything is going on well. I've already adapted to being just the Delta but not the Alpha's mate.

Come to think of it, maybe it is for the better. I mean, Maurice is ever happy and glowing and whenever we happen to meet, he looks contented with life. One moment here, I convince myself that I wouldn't have made him that happy if I were the Luna. I am an ambitious lady and I always like being on the top and I hate being ordered around or even ruled over and I sincerely hope that when the time comes for me to meet my mate, I'd have learnt submission and respect, else I'll be in deep shit.

In our Pack, there has been some tension due to the stray wolves who once attacked us and Luna Stacy saved the day by fighting them and also healing those who were badly injured. Apart from being a strong fighter and a moon goddess' warrior, she's also a healer and she's so good at it. Wow!

Compared to her, I really think I'm just a little being and sincerely speaking, she deserves my respect but since I'm finding it hard to accord her that, I'll just learn to keep my distance and stay out of her way completely. That way, I'll stay out of extreme trouble!

I'm just from the Pack House from a meeting with the Gamma and the Beta when I find my father home. He has been away in another Pack on a business but mom and I always updated him on everything going on in the Pack.

I'm their only child and to say that I'm pampered will be an understatement. I'm extremely pampered and I always get whatever I ask for from my parents. Mom wasn't lucky to get another child since she had some complications while pregnant with her second born who died immediately after birth and due to her condition, her uterus had to be removed due to an infection.

Dad hugs me and asks me how the meeting went and I inform him that everything went on well. He pats me on the back assuring me that everything that happened was the moon goddess' plan and very soon I'll meet my mate who will love and adore me. Well, that's what I'm looking forward to as well and I hope it'll happen soon, and I also hope that my mate won't be from this Pack. I need a break from Dark Woods and getting a mate from a far away Pack will be an added advantage...if he's an Alpha, well and good...

“So, what do you think we should do to help you meet him sooner?” Dad asks if he's reading my thoughts.

“I don't know dad. Maybe I should travel to all the surrounding Packs looking for him since I'm sure he isn't from here.” I tell him. I mean, if he were from this Pack, we'd have discovered each other already.

“It's not a lady's duty to go looking for their mate dear.” Dad says while chuckling. “A man is always the one who embarks on a mission to look for his mate.” He adds.

“So I should just sit here and wait for him to come and meet me as I grow old?” I ask, grinning at my last sentence.

“Not at all dear. Your mother and I have a quick solution to that and I hope it works.” He says and mom nods. She is a woman of a few words.

“Wow! I'm eager to hear about it dad.” I exclaim in excitement, drawing closer to him on the couch.

“Well, I'll have to visit the Alpha tomorrow so as to see if this will work.”

“Say it dad, I'm dying out of curiousity!”

“Well, we've decided to ask the Alpha to send a word to all the nearby Packs inviting all the unmated males and females to our Pack for a party. That way, you and many other unmated youth will have a chance to meet their mates.”

That isn't a bad idea after all, is it?

Dad goes on and explains how they want everything done and that they will sponsor the food and drinks so Alpha W

Maurice won't have to worry about spending out of his budget.

I agree with their opinion and due to excitement, I urge dad to visit the Alpha even today but he is hesitant, claiming that he has to book an appointment before meeting Maurice. Well, I get his point and I hope tomorrow he'll have a chance to meet him and table his suggestions before him and I hope everything goes on well.

Having agreed on all that, we continue chatting about other things and also updating my father on everything that has been going on in the Pack.

After dinner, I head to my room and retire to bed, hoping that I'll hear great news from the Alpha come tomorrow.

I toss and turn in bed, unable to sleep and whenever I force my eyes closed, I end up opening them once again since sleep ain't forthcoming. I just can't stop thinking about tomorrow and Maurice's response!

“I James Fenmore, the Alpha of the Alpine Pack reject you Amanda as my mate and I expect you to do the same. I can't accept an arrogant girl for a mate, besides, you have an history with your Alpha!”

What the fuck? Not after dad has organised everything, no!

“But...but we never did anything with Maurice. Besides, I'm a changed girl and I won't give you any trouble!” I try to explain myself.

“Shut the fuck up, will you?” I need a strong Luna beside me, and you're not that Luna. Remember you were beaten up senselessly by Luna Stacy?” He keeps on downgrading me.

“She is the moon goddess' warrior and she was created to be stronger than all of the other female wolves. Why are you comparing her to me? I'm strong on my own level!”

“Well, nothing you'll say will make me to change my mind. Just reject me and I'll get going!”

Why is this happening to me? I had all the hopes of meeting my mate and now all my hopes have been shattered. Who will ever accept me? Why did father even think of organising this damn party?

“Please...”

“If you won't reject me, then I have no option but to walk back in there and denounce you in front of everyone!”

“No! No! Wait!” I call after him as he turns to leave and I try stopping him using my hands but I end up falling head first on the ground.

Who even sent me to this swimming pool in the first place? Yeah right...I wanted to breath some fresh air since it was suffocating in there but now see what I've caused. I've landed into the hands of a heartless mate who has rejected me mercilessly.

Pain has started striking and it's now spreading allover my body but my heart is the most affected. I feel like I'm about to pass out....I can't bear this excruciating pain!

“Reject me, now!” the James guy growls at me.

“I- I - I can't!” I manage to say. “Just-”

“Then you leave me with no choice Amanda.” He cuts me short. “I'm going in there and I'll surely disgrace you!” He says then pushes my hands away as he walks towards the ballroom.

“Stoooooooop!”

I wake up with a start...

I'm sweating profusely and I suddenly sit up on bed, wondering what just happened.

I was dreaming right? Yeah, I was dreaming!

Well, I'm glad it was just a nightmare but did it have any meaning?

Oh yeah! I know Alpha James of the Alpine Pack but I've never featured him being my mate. Though it's just a dream, I hope against hopes that it doesn't have any meaning at all!

James is a good person and I won't mind having him for a mate but why did he seem so heartless in the dream? Oh goddess! Should I tell dad not to visit Alpha Maurice with the party's idea or I should just wait to be painfully rejected?

Oh gosh, I can't even think straight!

It's still dark outside therefore I decide to go back to sleep and I promise myself not to tell dad and mum about the nightmare, convincing myself that it was just a normal dream.

Going back to sleep seems to be a hard task but after struggling for almost an hour, my eyes become heavy with sleep and I end up closing them involuntarily and I snore all the way to dream land yet again!
