Chapter 15: Chapter 15
Sandra's POV
First thing in the morning, I baited everyone, waking them up to follow the same routine as mine. We all got dressed and prepared. I looked at my brothers and said, "Remember the plans I sent to you all yesterday?" My dad hadn't even looked at it himself. They didn't get anything, and yes, that was all part of the game I was going to play today at Luis's apartment.
I gave them every instruction. I told them to act like they were walking into high school for the very first time in their lives. I needed to achieve this once and for all—to reclaim my peace and start a new life. Definitely, that was the goal. And plus, an enjoyable one. Having a bad life doesn't pay, and living a good life doesn't really add to anything if you're still broken inside.
We drove to the front of Lewis's apartment, the car's siren hitting loud, like the morning sun reflecting off his window. I gave a loud knock on his door. One, two, three.
Then his foolish mistress, the one who goes around snatching people's men, walked out. She used a crazy voice that sounded sassy, with an attitude that screamed prostitute. She looked into my eyes and said, "Where the fuck are you from, and what the fuck are you doing here?"
Oh, so she doesn't remember me anymore? Did I change a bit? I didn't care. I told her, "I'm Sandra, the one—"
She cut me off with her words. "I knew you're Sandra. Can't you just relate to sarcasm?" she said, swiping her hands left and right, making a foolish sound with it.
I scoffed out a laugh. Meanwhile, my brothers were standing at a corner with Dylan.
"Please, can I meet Lewis?" I asked.
She laughed at me. "No, I won't give you a chance to go back to my man. My man is my man, and you can't take him away from me."
I laughed at that and said, "You don't want to try that shit with me. Not this time."
She laughed again and said, "This is my house and not yours, and I make the rules here."
I pushed her hard against her chest. There wasn't a rule that said a woman can't beat a fellow woman. Besides, she started this first. I walked into the apartment. Luis was standing there, upright and faking like the man he claims to be.
(Continued...)
His eyes widened in pure shock, then narrowed just as fast with anger. "Sandra? What is the meaning of this? How dare you push her and barge into my house!"
I didn't even let him finish. "Your house?" I let out a laugh, cold and sharp. "You forgot so soon whose money furnished this 'house'? You forgot the Collins name that opened all the doors you now walk through so proudly?"
My brothers, Daniel and the others, moved in behind me, their presence a silent wall of support. Dylan stood by the door, his arms crossed, a smirk playing on his lips. He was enjoying this almost as much as I was.
Lewis mistress scrambled up from where she’d fallen, her face twisted in rage. "Luis, call the police! Throw this mad woman out!"
"Go ahead," I said, my voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "Call them. Let's tell them all about the embezzlement, the forged documents, the money you funneled from my family's company. Let's give them a real story."
The color drained from Luis's face. He knew I knew. He thought he had hidden it all, buried it under lies and my supposed naivety.
"This is between you and me, Sandra," he said, trying to sound firm, but a crack of fear was there.
"Oh, it's much bigger than that now," I said, taking a step closer. "You didn't just break my heart, Luis. You stole from my family. You tried to break our legacy. And for that, you don't just get your heart broken. You get ruined."
I turned to his mistress. "And you. You can have him. But just so you know, you're clinging to a sinking ship. The money is gone. The status is gone. All that's left is the debt and the scandal. Enjoy."
I looked back at Luis one last time, the man I once thought was my forever. Now, he just looked small and pathetic.
"The legal papers will arrive tomorrow," I stated calmly. "And so will the news headlines. Consider this my final goodbye present."
With that, I turned and walked out, my family falling in step behind me. The morning sun felt warmer now, like it was washing away the grime he had left on my soul. The real game had just begun, and for the first time, I was holding all the cards.
I didn’t wait for his reply. The sight of him shrinking under my gaze was all the satisfaction I needed. We walked out, the morning air tasting like victory. The car ride home was silent, but it was a good silence, filled with unspoken understanding.
Back at the house, the real work began. My father finally spoke, his voice steady. "The lawyers are already moving. By noon, his assets will be frozen." Daniel clapped a hand on my shoulder. "You were brilliant, Sandra. A true alpha."
I smiled, but my mind was already elsewhere. Saphriel. The assassin was still in play, a dangerous piece on the board that I no longer needed. My revenge was now cleaner, more legal, and far more devastating. I had to call him off.
I retreated to my room and dialed the number. It rang twice before he answered, his voice a low growl. "The deal is in motion."
"There's been a change of plans," I said, my voice firm. "The contract is cancelled."
A chilling silence filled the line. "A deal is a deal, Sandra. The deposit was for the plan, not the kill. You don't get to change your mind."
A cold dread trickled down my spine. "What are you saying?"
"I'm saying the machine is already running. It cannot be stopped. Luis will fall, one way or another." He paused, and I could almost hear his sinister smile. "And a breach of contract has consequences. You'll be hearing from me."
The line went dead. My hand trembled as I lowered the phone. I had been so focused on Luis that I never considered the devil I’d invited to my door. I had wanted to control the game, but now a wild, uncontrollable variable had been unleashed.
The door opened and Dylan entered, his expression shifting from pride to concern when he saw my face. "Sandra? What's wrong?"
I looked at him, the truth stuck in my throat. I had orchestrated everything, but in my anger, I had made a deal that could now destroy everything I’d just won. The revenge I thought was over was only just beginning, and this time, I wasn't the hunter. I was the prey.
