Chapter 180: Seven Hours in the Rain
Another memory surged up, making his heart feel as if it were being forcibly squeezed.
“Tomi, you jerk!” The voice rang out sharply, shaking the calm atmosphere of the restaurant.
SLAP!
A hard slap landed on his cheek. The incident happened right after Tomi came down from the third floor of his restaurant and helped free Frel from the hold of two security guards.
“Frel, what’s wrong?” Tomi asked in panic. “Why are you shouting and attacking me like this in front of so many people?”
“You’re asking what’s wrong? Do you even know what day it is?” Frel pointed at Tomi’s face with her trembling index finger.
“Sunday. What’s wrong with that?” Tomi thought for a moment, but he still didn’t understand what his girlfriend meant. “Or is there some special day I missed? Your birthday is still far away, right?”
“You’re really unbearable, Tomi. I reminded you a week ago that today marks exactly one month of our relationship. You already agreed to celebrate it at the place we decided on. Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you?” Frel put her hands on her hips with an angry face. “I sat there until all the garden lights were turned on!”
Tomi immediately slapped his forehead when he realized the foolishness that had made him forget something so important.
“Frel, I—”
“Seven hours, Tomi. I waited for you for seven hours like a stupid girl! It rained and I still didn’t move because I believed you would come!”
“Frel, I’m sorry. I really forgot.”
“Look at me, Tomi.”
Tomi observed Frel, who was soaked. The girl was only wearing a worn T-shirt and flip-flops. Instantly, he understood why the security guards at his restaurant had tried to drive her away. At his mother’s luxurious restaurant, there were strict rules prohibiting visitors from wearing flip-flops.
“Sorry, Miss. You’re not allowed to enter if you’re wearing flip-flops,” the security guard’s voice from earlier echoed in Tomi’s ears.
“What happened to you, Frel?” Tomi asked worriedly as he looked at his girlfriend’s condition. “Why didn’t you go straight home when it started raining?”
“You’re still asking?” Frel glared sharply. “I got soaked waiting for you in the park. I ran after a vehicle, but unfortunately I fell miserably. My shoes were ruined and my bag got dirty, so I wore whatever I had so I could look for you here!”
Some restaurant guests who passed by stopped and held back their smiles. Even Tomi had to cover his mouth to keep his laughter from bursting out.
“Your appearance is indeed a little unique today,” Tomi blurted out unconsciously.
“Shut up, Tomi! This isn’t funny!” Frel shouted while stomping her foot. Her gaze then shifted to a beautiful girl in sexy clothes standing beside Tomi. Her blood instantly boiled. “Oh, so this is why you forgot our promise? You’re cheating on me behind my back? I was freezing in the park while you were having fun with another girl, Tomi!”
“Frel, I can explain everything. I—”
“Stop, Tomi! I don’t want to hear anything from you anymore. I know you’re a love adventurer, but I thought every guy would stop when he got a girlfriend he truly loved. Turns out I realize now, all this time I meant nothing to you.” Her emotions grew even more intense. “I’m just one of your many toys, aren’t I?!”
“Frel, please don’t be like this,” Tomi said, starting to panic. He couldn’t bear to lose this girl. “Forgive me. I promise I won’t do it again.”
“Enough! I don’t need your apologies or your promises. I’m not like your previous girls who would easily forgive you.”
“Frel, I was wrong. I’m really sorry. I’m begging you.” Tomi stepped closer with a pleading look. “Please don’t let today end like this, I beg you.”
“Our relationship ends here, Tomi. We’re breaking up!”
After saying those words, Frel immediately left, leaving Tomi standing frozen in confusion. Even though Tomi shouted her name and begged her not to end their relationship, Frel no longer cared.
The girl didn’t stop, nor did she look back.
“Frel! Wait! I’m begging you, don’t break up! Frel!” he shouted uselessly amid the bustle of the restaurant.
That bitter memory born from his own carelessness continued to haunt him. Until now, Tomi had been unable to forgive himself. He always cursed that fatal mistake.
“If only I hadn’t been so careless,” he whispered to himself.
That long daydream finally shattered when the voice of a beautiful girl standing in front of him called his name.
