Chapter 147

“The doctor said I’m fine. I really don’t want to keep taking this medicine.”

=============================================================================

“No!” Before Rishima could finish, Roberto snapped loudly.

Roberto’s reaction startled Rishima. Her whole body trembled, and the pill slipped from her hand, falling to the floor.

Only then did Roberto realize he had been rude. With a stern expression, he ordered the servant standing nearby, “Get me another pill.”

“No need, I can take it next time.”

“No, I’ll have them get another pill. After you take it, you can sleep.” Saying that, Roberto nodded sharply to the servant to fetch the medicine. He bent down to pick up the broken pill from the floor—shattered into many pieces—and worried its effectiveness would be compromised. It was best for Rishima to take a fresh one.

In fact, erasing someone’s memories was no easy task. This pill was the result of many experts Roberto had painstakingly sought out and collaborated with to develop. Unlike hypnosis to erase memories, this method was much more stable. As long as she continued taking the medicine, she would be unable to recall anything from her past. Roberto wanted to completely change Rishima, to turn her into his little sister, and the first step was to erase all her old memories.

…

Emily stood helplessly in front of Matthew’s house, looking up at the towering mansion with worried eyes. She never imagined she would voluntarily come back here. Just days ago, she thought she would never have any contact with Matthew again. Yet here she was, slapping herself in the face with her own actions.

Young Group was basically beyond saving. Emily no longer hoped the company could be revived; she only wanted to rescue her father from prison.

Her father was old and weak, unable to endure the harsh conditions in jail. Over the past few days, Emily didn’t know how many acquaintances she had begged for help. But the moment they saw her, they immediately shut their doors, refusing to meet her. Ironically, Matthew had become her only hope now.

Matthew sat on the sofa, coldly staring at Emily. The corners of his mouth curled into a mocking smile. It turned out there really was such a thing as karma in this world. Emily had done too many wrong things, and now everything seemed like a deserved punishment.

Indeed, everyone often had to face the consequences of their actions.

“Matthew…” Emily bit her lip softly and looked at him.

Before she could even utter a plea, Emily heard a sharp voice, "What are you doing at our house? Leave, go outside! Don’t bring your bad luck into our home." Alina, dressed in an elegant evening gown, stepped down from the upper floor. The moment she saw Emily, her expression darkened.

Emily clenched her jaw, overwhelmed with shame. The humiliation made it impossible for her to raise her head. Yet, she stood still, unmoving. She would not leave—she could not. His father was still imprisoned; only Matthew could save him.

"You really have no shame. I told you to leave, why won’t you listen?" Alina snapped angrily, ordering the servants to drag Emily out.

Emily bit her lip hard, tears immediately streaming from her eyes.

"Matthew," Emily called out loudly, "I beg you, can you save my father? Please, he’s old—he can’t endure life in prison."

Grief, shame, and humiliation—all crashed down on Emily, but before saving her father, none of it mattered.

She pushed the servants aside and ran to Matthew, grabbing his arm tightly, her voice filled with desperate pleading, "Matthew, please help me, I beg you."

Alina shouted angrily, "Matthew, don’t listen to her. No one can save Bob. Right now, his identity is sensitive; anyone involved with him will face trouble."

But before Alina finished, Matthew suddenly spoke, "Everyone out. I have something to say to her."

"Matthew!"

"I know what to do. Please leave now!" Matthew said firmly, allowing no objections. Since taking over Moonlight, he had become much stronger; even Alina dared not oppose him. She gritted her teeth in frustration and turned away unwillingly.

Matthew looked at Emily with contempt and coldly said, "Why should I help you? Your father used substandard products instead of quality ones, causing all this. Didn’t he consider the consequences during production?"

"Emily, your father is only receiving the punishment he deserves."

Emily shook her head desperately, pleading, "No, he was deceived."

Matthew let out a cold laugh, "I don’t care if he was deceived or not. What does that have to do with me?"

"Matthew, I beg you to help him." Emily gripped Matthew’s arm tightly, then knelt before him, "Matthew, if you save my father, I’ll agree to become your mate. Please save him, will you?" Tears soaked Emily’s eyes as she knelt low before Matthew, bowing her head deeply.

Matthew burst out laughing, then spoke in a very soft tone, "Wouldn't it have been better if you had been obedient from the start? Don’t worry, I’ll give you a truly solemn bonding ceremony."

Hearing Matthew’s dark laughter, Emily could already imagine the painful future ahead of her, but she could not retreat. As long as her parents lived well, she was willing to die.

The bonding ceremony had been prepared quite thoroughly. At that moment, as Matthew was getting ready for the party, he suddenly overheard two servants whispering nearby.

“Why do I feel she looks so much like Ms. Rishima?”

“Who’s Rishima?”

“She’s the female who stayed here with Master Matthew for a whole month. I heard she died, and Master Matthew was heartbroken for a long time.”

Matthew’s heart tightened. He hurried over with a serious expression and asked, “What are you two talking about?”

The servants fell silent in panic, bowing their heads. Matthew grew more impatient. “Speak up!”

One servant respectfully handed Matthew a phone and said, “This is a photo my cousin took at the park. Doesn’t the female in the picture look just like Ms. Rishima?”

Matthew stared at the phone screen, his whole body trembling slightly. It was definitely Rishima. Rishima was still alive...

Matthew began to breathe heavily, muttering, “Mystwood Park... she’s at Mystwood Park!”

He handed the phone back to the servant and then turned to run toward the gate, but was stopped by a bodyguard. “Matthew, the ceremony is about to start. Where do you think you’re going?”

Matthew’s eyes grew cold. He curled his lips and said, “Let her go through the ceremony alone.”
