Chapter 83: The Enemy's Embrace

Alexia's POV

I lay in bed twirling all through the night, thoughts of Kia's appearance robbing me of all the sleep I should have been getting. .

Why was he here? I had asked myself that question severally but I still couldn't provide the answers to them.

Of all places why did you come here?  If only he knew that I didn't come here, but I was chosen to be here. If only he knew how much hardships I had gone through.

"But the mate bond," Crystal trailed off.

Scratch that Crystal. Fuck the damn bond.

He must have gotten a new partner after all. Or even worse gotten married to Amber.

I did notice that he was sitting with a lady earlier, though, when I tried getting a better look at her, hse was no longer there, I was just seeing things again I concluded.

Kia was no longer a part of my life and he didn't even deserve to be a part of my life or Kian's.

What was I saying?

He will never find out about Kian's existence. I'll make sure of that.

“Good day, Miss Murphy.” Elsa greeted, smiling. “Therez a bouquet of flowers sitting in your office.”

My heart stopped for a minute.

“What! Why?”

"I have no idea"

"Does it have a card?"

Well yes, but it does not say who it's from it just says 'To Alexia Murphy'" I watched her shrug her shoulders.

Why would you think someone would send me flowers

“For a successful Party last night or to court you, I guess.” She responded.

She had a point, but deep down I knew that it was something more than just congratulatory flowers. They had a meaning deeper than that.

"Elsa!" I called out from my office.

"Yes ma'am"

"Has anyone ringed the office?"

"No ma'am, no one has. Are you expecting a particular call"

"alright. No I'm not expecting a call", I lied.

I stared at the flowers sitted on my table, I had little to idea where they came from or sent them.

Well, I did have a bit of an idea who they came from.

Reluctantly, I moved my hands to where it sat, picking the bouquet up and now cradling it in my arms. It was a bouquet of white petunia flowers, it's white color giving a my ocean blue painted office a new feel and look. My mom once told me that these golwes symbolizes anger, hope and calmness, I admired that it wasn't the typical rose flowers, taking my time feel each if the petals, I finally set it down with hopes of getting the day's work done and over with.

The files stacked on the table, causing me to wince in my chair. "Argggh, I hated the paper work aspect of this job. Tuning on my favourite playlist, I drowned myself in the numerous files and documents that  needed my attention, only standing up during the needed water and bathroom breaks I had assigned to myself.

"Ma'am I just got off the phone with your lawyer." She announced, standing at the entrance to my door.

"What does he want" I hissed, the underlying irritation, evident in my voice.

"He says you should check your email, he sent a couple of documents that needs your attention."

"Alright" I nodded, turning my attention back to the computer screen.

"And ma'am!" She continued.

"What is it this time Less?" I demanded.

"There's a man standing here, he insists that he has an appointment with you."

"Let him in",  I said without giving it much thought, it might be Mr. Stewart, coming to finalize the legal process for the partnership. That explains it too, he should be the one behind the flowers. Silly of me to let my thoughts and imagination run wild.

The door creeked open and I had not bothered looking up to confirm who it was. "Mr. Stewart, thank you soo much for these beautiful flowers. I love them. Do back to our discussion on the day of the par--

"Stewart didn't send the flowers,"  The voice interrupted me, forcing my gaze to Break away from my computer and into those warm caramel eyes.

"What.. what are er, you doing here" I fidgeted, struggling to find the right words to use I'm the presence of this demi devil, no that wasn't the word I was I should be using, Demi hot freaking devil.

"I think that question should be directed to you as well, miss Alexia, what are you doing here?" He queried, tilting his head to the side.

"This is where I work, no, as a matter of factly, I own, run and manage here," I declared, leaning back in my chair, slightly slouching.

"I see you love the flowers I sent" he gestured to the flower that I had already placed in a pot, now I'm regretting that decision of mine. It's giving, 'oh my I haven't received flowers all damn life'

"They are quite nice, thank you" i responded, returning my attention back to the computer screen. I wasn't going to let him get my attention.

"So this is what you enjoy". He mused, you could hear the smile from his voice, "Reaping from other people," he continued.

His words hit a raw nerve, as I sprang up from my chair, pointing a finger at him, "don't you ever dare talk about something you know nothing about,"  I roared, holding back the me tears that were threatening to escape my eye lids.

He had no right to talk about me. He has absolutely no right because he would not understand the struggle I went through to get to this point.

"Alexia I did not come a the way here to trigger or annoy you, I'm sorry if I did," he looked genuinely sorry, but I wasn't going to buy that act, I know Kia, and I know that he's only here because he stands to gain something from me through one way or another. "I just" he let out a sigh, "wanted to know why you left. Why you ran away without any clear reason."

I let out a shrill laugh, so he was finally interested in the things I chose to do with my life? Thought he always wanted me out of his life?, But I don't say it out loud.

Rising to my feet, my jaws clenched as I glared at Kia who was sitting across me, "Get out! Leave" I commanded, pointing to the door.
