Chapter 206: Release
When Nicole just stood up, she realized that her legs were tightly clamped together, pressing against him even at the insides of her thighs.
Blushing, she moved back a few times, keeping her knees apart so as not to squeeze him any further.
When she looked up, she met the man's teasing gaze, instantly realizing that he was making fun of her.
With her face flushed, Nicole felt both angry and annoyed. She was about to retaliate, but her words were interrupted by a knock on the door.
This time, the assistant outside the door was much more polite. He didn't directly push the door open but instead spoke through the door in a lowered voice, "Boss, it's time for the meeting."
Robert ruffled Nicole's head and turned his head towards the door, speaking in a deep voice, "Come in."
The door took a while to open, and a narrow gap appeared with caution.
The male assistant walked in with his head lowered and small steps, obviously wary of encountering any embarrassing scenes. He didn't dare to look up as he spoke, "Boss, it's time, they've already started connecting the lines over there."
Robert responded with a nod, then lifted Nicole from the desk by her waist and said softly, "Where's the food you brought?"
The male assistant responded with an "Oh" and said, "It's being kept warm outside."
Ignoring his response, Robert used his slender fingers to tidy up Nicole's messy bangs, his gaze focused on her.
Nicole caught a glimpse of the shocked expression on the male assistant's face behind her and felt even more embarrassed, thinking about the scene she had just bumped into.
Blushing, she shyly avoided Robert's outstretched hand and lowered her head to adjust her bangs herself, saying, "I can do it, you need to go to the meeting."
The man looked at her movements, then glanced at the assistant without saying a word. Although he didn't speak, it made the assistant nervous. He hurriedly ran out and said, "I'll go and fetch the food."
The door closed, and the office returned to calmness.
Nicole's head drooped almost in a state of collapse. She felt that the short period of less than an hour had been overloaded with too much, even beyond her capacity to absorb.
Robert, on the other hand, remained calm as usual, staring at her without rushing, "What's the rush?"
Being looked at by him made Nicole's breath unsteady. She subconsciously denied, "I'm not in a rush."
After speaking, she felt guilty and her gaze drifted, afraid to meet his deep, dark eyes, afraid of being seen through by the man.
Her milky white cheeks were flushed, and even her ears were burning red. Her fluttering eyelashes covered her slightly guilty eyes, presenting a pitiful and adorable appearance that made Robert's lower abdomen tighten. The suppressed fire from earlier seemed to reignite.
He quietly took a breath, his Adam's apple rolling, and gently patted her head with his hand, his voice calm, "Don't be afraid, I'm single. You can do whatever you want to me without feeling guilty."
Robert's words were like opening Pandora's box, shattering the remaining guilt that Nicole had for morality.
Those years of missing emotions and desires seemed to be released in an instant.
They were like young lovers addicted to the forbidden fruit, unable to restrain themselves from entangling.
In Robert's car, in his office, and even in Richard's house where he was also present.
...
On the dining table.
Nicole's abdomen would tingle with a sour sensation whenever she accidentally caught a man's gaze. Even the slightest proximity to him would ignite a reaction within her. It was evident that she had been spoiled by him.
"Robert, let's have a drink later," said Richard, who was oblivious to the eye contact between the two and more concerned about the matter of inheriting the family line.
Lately, it had become increasingly difficult for Robert to get what he wanted. The longer it dragged on, the more anxious Richard became.
"I don't want to drink, I've been having stomach problems lately."
Robert calmly withdrew his gaze and lazily leaned back in his chair. His long legs, concealed underneath the table, naturally pressed against Nicole's slender legs.
With her head lowered, Nicole's trembling eyelashes betrayed her emotions, yet she did not move her legs away, allowing him to press closer.
Her bare legs, hidden beneath her skirt, were pressed against the fabric of the man's suit, and even through the thin material, she could clearly feel the hardness of his lean legs rubbing against her, causing a slight friction.
The warmth of his body pressed against her, and the rustling texture of his trousers caused Nicole's toes to involuntarily curl twice.
She swallowed quietly, feeling the surge of his seminal fluid from their earlier encounter in the garage heating up in her lower abdomen.
"It's fine to have a drink, right, Nicole?" Richard forced a smile and nudged Nicole with his elbow.
Robert had been refusing him for a while now, whether it was drinking or anything else. Whatever Robert handed over to him, Richard wouldn't touch.
Richard didn't know whether Robert was unaware or knew something, but regardless of the reason, it was not good news for Richard.
Furrowing her brow, Nicole remained silent, instead carefully shifting further away from Richard, making her rejection evident.
Seeing her actions, Richard paused, his brow furrowing even tighter. The already present irritation in him began to rage up to his brain.
Just as he was about to explode, a low, grave voice suddenly interrupted his emotions.
"Richard, how are things going for you in NYC? I heard Mike and his brothers recently landed several big projects in LA."
The man's tone was indifferent, only faintly mentioning it, but his words shocked Richard, causing cold sweat to break out all over his body.
"How did Robert know?"
Richard was too nervous at the moment to be angry with Nicole. He anxiously stared at Robert across from him.
His associates in LA didn't even know what big projects his two cousins had taken on. How did Robert, who was far away in NYC, know about it?
Robert raised an eyebrow and casually spoke, "Mr. Hayes told me."
Those words struck Richard like a thunderbolt, hitting him directly in the forehead.
He stood there stunned for a moment, his back covered in a layer of cold sweat, his heart racing in panic.
If Mr. Hayes had mentioned it to Robert, then it must be true. This also indicated that their grandfather placed more importance on his two cousins, otherwise he wouldn't have discussed it with Robert.
Especially now that the matter of having a child is nowhere in sight, Richard felt as if the sword hanging over his head had come down a few notches, almost piercing his scalp.
Swallowing hard, he struggled to speak, "Robert, you really have to help me..."
As soon as Nicole saw this posture, she knew Richard was about to ask Robert for a favor, and couldn't help but feel a slight annoyance.
"You guys talk, I've finished eating, I'll go out for a walk..." She stood up, finding an excuse to leave the dining room.
