Chapter 86 86

Chapter 86 86

Unknown person's point of view

I hid behind the stone wall, listening to their every conversation.

Darn it! After so much effort, the stupid Raynell witch still doubts Monica being the traitor witch. I pulled enough magic and energy altering the spell to my favor so it would fall on Monica, and now I'm back to square one, and it's all because of the nosy Luna. It's a good thing the head witch, Celeste, kicked against the Alpha interfering with the whole process of finding the traitor; otherwise, I would have been caught. I strained from the shadows, crippling my brows in a frown. Just great! Now the witches are redoing the spell and the nosy Raynell witch has a plan, too. I sighed angrily, getting their full conversation.

I noticed Celeste and Valerie make their way back to the witch's quarters. Instantly, I moved out of sight, hurrying back to the quarters. I have to send a message to the Shadow Queen. Things are slowly getting out of my control. I had searched the entire pack house and the witch's quarters, but I still haven't found the box of Cora nor the damn phoenix stone. Dang it!

I still have to figure out what exactly those three witches and the traitorous male witch actually do behind the closed doors of that spelled room. They are up to something, but I just can't place my fingers on it.

I kept the door shut, moving to the blazing candle fire. I scribbled down a message on the white paper in my own blood. Then I placed it in the blazing fire. "Exzeridum unum Poxerlituz." The paper disappeared in the blazing fire. Now the queen would get my message.

I paced around my room, tapping my fingers on my waist. I heard the creaking of the fire. I went closer, grabbing the piece of paper that appeared from its flames. It was a message. I read it carefully. The queen is getting impatient; she needs the box at all costs, along with the Raynell witch and the phoenix stone.

After reading the written message on the paper, I tore it and burned it, not risking the chance of someone finding it.

The queen has asked me to find that box at all costs, and I will, after which I need to bring the Raynell witch to her, all this before tomorrow's dawn.

I had to think of the perfect plan—one that would buy me enough time to be alone with the false Luna, get into her mind, and find out where she had placed the box of Cora's. I'll retrieve the box, and also get the nosy Luna to my queen.

That seems so easy, thinking about it. Now I have to act towards it.

I flattened my dress, having a shrewd smile on. It's time to get back into character. I bet when those good-for-nothing witches come to know who the true traitor is, they'll be so shocked to the bones.

I snickered, closing my door shut.

Brielle's point of view

I tripled my steps, catching up with Aderyn at the door of her room.

"What's wrong? I can't help but notice the tension between the witches. The traitor is caught, isn't it?"

Aderyn didn't say a word; instead, she pulled me into her room, locking the door.

"Yes and no," was her answer.

"What do you mean? Monica is held in the witch's dungeon because she's the traitor, right?" I queried, plopping on the soft bed.

Her eyes fell on me, thinking or rather deliberating.

"Come on, Aderyn. Tell me? I'm dying with curiosity here."

Aderyn sighed. "First of all, I need your help. Secondly, Monica is the assumed traitor as of now, but I'm not so sure."

She had my full attention. "But Celeste and Valerie have proved it's her."

"Yes. But that could be all staged. I even suspect the spell was somehow altered to make Monica look like the traitor."

"Slow down, Aderyn. What spell?"

I listened to her as she explained everything to me.

"So you are saying that the real traitor somehow knew what Valerie and Celeste were planning on doing, and somehow made everything seem like Monica was behind it?"

"Yup!" Aderyn responded, grabbing some witch supplies from her drawer.

Aderyn motioned to me. "Whatever is going to happen tonight, the real traitor will be exposed."

"Okay... so what do you need me to do?"

"The pack isn't aware of what's going on. As much as it's possible, get everyone away from the witch's quarters and please keep an eye on Monica."

I nodded. "But why Monica?"

"Just to be safe in case it turns out she's still the traitor."

I followed Aderyn out of the room. We took the elevator instead of the stairs to the third floor, finally arriving at the Satan's door room.

"Do we really need him?" I asked again. I don't have anything against the witch guy, but he just gives me the creeps.

Aderyn barged her way into the room. It was dark—darker than night, I would say. How can someone actually stay in such darkness? I stopped right outside the door, not wanting to go inside. The darkness and the chill air that escaped from the room were frightening as hell.

"I need help, Reagan." Aderyn spoke into the darkness, definitely not finding this weird and creepy, or maybe she was used to it.

The silence remained. "Please?" I could tell she was almost rolling her eyes.

Then there was a gentle move, and soon from the darkness appeared the devil himself. It was astonishing the way she knew exactly where he was in the fog of darkness.

"What's she doing here?" His voice was deep, yet almost angelic, but his eyes had a menacing gaze boring at me, like he had a problem with me or my entire existence.

I rolled my eyes. "Again, Aderyn, do we need him?" I said with a grave tone.

"Yes we do, Brielle. And Reagan, she's helping too."

He didn't say a word again, shutting the door closed.

"You know what to do."

I shook my head positively, leaving my Luna with that creepy witch.

Celeste's point of view

I watched the witches make preparations for the cleansing ritual all day, my eyes scanning through every witch. I couldn't think of who the vile traitor was among us. I wondered how close the traitor was.

Then Valerie approached. She had already changed into appropriate clothes for the ritual, donning a brown cloak over her. "It's ready now."

I gazed up at the bright full moon settling in. "And the Luna?"

"She's as ready, too."

"Then let's get this started. I'm as eager to find out the traitor amongst us."

We went out to the witch's courtyard. Every witch in the coven was there already, forming a spiral circle around, hands linked to each other.

"How are things going?"

I turned around to see the Alpha with Mason.

I bowed in respect. "We are about to start now. It will take some while; if you want, you could wait at the pack house."

"No, it's okay. I'll be here."

I nodded, turning back to

Valerie.

Valerie's dark gaze fell on me.

"Let's begin now."
