Chapter 176 A Battle to Break Free

Chapter 176 A Battle to Break Free

Author's POV

The ink-black dome of solid kinetic energy thrummed in the center of the clearing, a monument to primeval malice.

Inside that terrifying, opaque sphere, Kathy was entirely cut off from the physical world, trapped in a silent, suffocating vacuum where the first-era entity was systematically tearing down the final bastions of her humanity.

On the frozen ground outside, Riven forced himself back onto his feet. His hands were raw, bleeding from where the jagged crimson lightning had seared through his leather jacket, and his chest heaved in agonizing, shallow gasps.

His Alpha shield had been completely pulverized by the shockwave, but the fire in his amber eyes burned brighter than ever. He spat blood onto the snow, refusing to back down.

"Kathy!" Riven roared again, his voice cracking, entirely raw from screaming against the gale. He dragged his battered body forward, step by agonizing step, pressing his palms directly against the vibrating, violent barrier of the dark dome. "I am not leaving you! Fight it! Break through!"

Zayden lunged forward, throwing his massive shoulder against Riven's side to help him anchor against the crushing kinetic feedback that threatened to throw them back into the trees.

But Riven's voice alone was no longer enough to pierce the thick, demonic static that flooded Kathy's mind.

The entity was winning. The dark veins mapping her face inside the void were solidifying, turning her mortal heart into a cold, unfeeling stone.

Then, the tree line exploded.

The snowdrifts at the southern edge of the clearing were violently blown apart as Malia and Aiden burst into the open space, followed closely by Cian, Rowan, Freddy, and July.

They had tracked the catastrophic frequency spike straight from the administrative tower, abandoning all tactical restraint to save their daughter.

The moment Malia saw the pitch-black dome casing her child, her maternal instinct completely overrode the laws of nature.

"Kathy!" Malia’s voice didn't just carry over the storm—it shattered it.

An absolute, crushing wave of fierce maternal love and hyper-dominant Alpha energy erupted from her core, radiating across the desolate clearing like a golden super-nova.

Aiden stepped up flush against her side, his massive, tectonic frequency locking into hers, while Cian and Rowan flanked them, their combined apex Alpha masses generating a protective thermal shield that instantly neutralized the sub-zero chill of the blizzard.

Malia marched straight into the radius of the vortex, her long auburn ponytail whipping violently in the dark wind. She didn't flinch as the crimson lightning hissed across her leather trench coat.

She placed her hands flat against the dark dome, right beside Riven’s, and poured her very soul into the barrier.

"Hear my voice, Kathy!" Malia commanded, her eyes burning with a brilliant, unyielding golden fire. "You are my daughter! The darkness does not own you! I'm so sorry for not being here for you!"

Aiden’s deep baritone joined the chorus, a thunderous, patriarchal anchor that vibrated straight through the stone earth.

Together with Riven’s desperate, unyielding declarations of love, the combined frequencies created a pure, resonant harmonic path.

The piercing, golden light of their united pack bond began to violently fracture the solid ink-black dome, the voices finally slicing through the demonic static inside Kathy’s head like a beacon of absolute warmth.

Inside the void, Kathy’s gray eyes snapped open, a single tear cutting through the frost on her cheek as she recognized the love of her family.

Just as the dark dome began to violently spiderweb with golden fractures, a cold, mocking cackle echoed through the clearing, instantly freezing the blood in Riven's veins.

"How touching," a sharp, venomous voice hissed from the whiteout. "The great Alpha family, weeping over a broken human vessel."

The golden energy faltered slightly as everyone violently spun around, their defensive perimeters snapping into place.

Emerging from the dense, swirling fog of the blizzard was Madame Vespa. The exiled shadow-walker looked entirely unbothered by the storm, her dark, tattered robes flowing around her thin frame like living smoke. Her eyes gleamed with a chaotic, wicked satisfaction.

But she wasn't alone.

Stepping out from the shadows of the frozen pines behind her came fifteen rogue dark wolves. They were massive, mangy, and completely corrupted by the forbidden magic of the lower drainage tunnels.

Their eyes glowed with a sickly, unstable crimson light, and thick strings of black saliva dripped from their bared fangs onto the snow.

Confusion and absolute rage rippled through the pack. Riven’s jaw locked, his knuckles turning white as he realized they had been ambushed at the worst possible moment.

"Vespa," Malia growled, stepping away from the dome, her tall frame radiating a lethal, apocalyptic pressure that made the ground beneath her boots crack. Her hands curled into tight fists. "You dare show your face here, after everything you did?"

Vespa smiled, a sickening, twisted grin that bared her yellowed teeth. She looked at Malia with an ancient, deeply entrenched hatred. "It is so very nice to see you again, Malia. I told you years ago that the debt of your bloodline would be collected. I merely found the perfect, empty little vessel to pay it."

"You will burn in the lowest pits of the void before you take another step toward her," Aiden roared, his massive shoulders tensing as his primary-line Alpha mass violently expanded, threatening to crush the rogue wolves where they stood.

"Bold words for a pack surrounded by ghosts," Vespa sneered, her hand snapping up as she gave a sharp, decisive hand command to her vanguard of rogues. "Tear them apart. Leave the vessel to the god."

The clearing descended into immediate, visceral chaos.

The fifteen rogue dark wolves didn't hesitate. With synchronized, demonic roars that shook the snow from the trees, they all transformed into their full werewolf forms—hulking, bipedal beasts of muscle, fur, and shadow that lunged across the stone clearing with terrifying speed.

"Protect the dome!" Rowan shouted, his voice booming as he, Cian, Aiden, and Freddy instantly underwent the raw, bone-snapping transformation into their massive Alpha wolf forms.

The sound of flesh tearing and bones reshaping echoed through the canyon as the family pack met the rogue vanguard head-on.

The fight was instantaneous and brutally heated. Aiden’s massive, silver-furred wolf form collided with two dark rogues simultaneously, his powerful jaws snapping shut around the throat of one beast, painting the pristine white snow in a spray of hot, crimson blood.

Cian and Rowan moved like a synchronized unit of destruction, their golden auras flashing in the blizzard as they tore through the ranks of the attackers.

Freddy and July anchored the flanks, July using her specialized tracking agility to dodge the swipe of a rogue’s claws before Freddy lunged from the side, pinning the enemy to the frozen stone.

Riven refused to shift, keeping his human form anchored firmly against the fracturing dome of dark energy.

He became a lethal whirlwind of kinetic defense, using his raw Alpha fists to bash the skull of a rogue wolf that tried to bypass the front line to reach Kathy.

In the center of the battlefield, Malia stood her ground in her human form, her auburn ponytail tossing as she channeled her hyper-dominant energy into a physical shield, deflecting Vespa’s dark, shadow-based magic blasts.

"You cannot stop the ascension, Malia!" Vespa shrieked over the sounds of snarling wolves and breaking bones, her hands glowing with an ink-black sorcery as she traded blows with the furious mother. "The frequency has already split! The entity will have its flesh!"
