Chapter 39: Let’s not get high anymore
In the background, I could faintly hear Aaron expressing his gratitude to his friend for the invaluable advice that seemed to be helping me find peace. Their conversation was filled with promises of gratitude and support, a testament to the strength of their friendship and the lengths they would go to for one another.
Eventually, Aaron hung up the phone, his whispered promises of indebtedness lingering in the air. As he continued to watch over me, I felt a sense of immense love and security, knowing that I was in the arms of someone who would always be there for me, no matter what.
As I groggily came to, realizing we'd slept through our trip, I freaked out. "Aaron, we missed our thing! What the heck happened?" I blurted out, my mind racing with confusion and frustration.
But Aaron, ever the chill dude, calmed me down. He explained that, well, I was basically a mess and going on the trip in that state wouldn't have been a good idea. So, he rescheduled it for tomorrow. I was bummed, but hey, at least he had it all sorted.
Even though I was disappointed about missing out, Aaron's laid-back attitude helped me chill out. He suggested we do something else fun for the day, and suddenly, missing the trip didn't seem like such a big deal after all.
In the end, Aaron's understanding and quick thinking turned a potential disaster into just another adventure in our book.
Ah, the mystery of the space cake unfolds! I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. "Space cake, seriously?" I asked incredulously.
Aaron confirmed it, and my mind raced trying to remember what had transpired. "So, I was a complete mess today, huh?" I said, feeling a mix of embarrassment and curiosity.
He reassured me that he had everything under control and that we could salvage the day with something fun. His comforting words helped ease my worries, and I couldn't help but feel grateful to have such a supportive partner by my side.
With a kiss from Aaron, I felt a wave of reassurance wash over me. "We'll be fine," he said confidently, and I knew he was right. We'd tackle whatever came our way, together.
Ah, the club sounded like a blast to me, but Aaron quickly shut down that idea. "Boring," I pouted. But his concern for me was touching, and I understood his reluctance to hit the town after our escapades with the space cake.
Instead, he suggested a hike along the 7-mile beach nearby. "Hmm, sounds repetitive," I mused. "How about a nap instead?"
But Aaron was determined to make the most of the day, and he had already ordered food to fuel our adventure. "Alright, alright," I relented. "But you're on cooking duty!"
“So, after we finish our meal, how about indulging in some spa treatments? What are your thoughts on that?"
"Hmm, yes, that sounds acceptable to me, I suppose."
Excellent. "Okay, allow me to address your hair. It appears rather unkempt and dry. Additionally, your eyes seem red, suggesting you may wish to adopt a more discreet appearance today."
"Oh dear... I vow never to consume Jamaican brownies again after this. What a regrettable experience."
"Indeed, quite regrettable. Nevertheless, you displayed resilience. Our meal is en route."
"Very well. What culinary delights do we have before us? Fried rice with seafood. Sounds delectable. I shall consume it expeditiously—I am famished!"
"I am relieved that matters have improved. Can you believe how energetic you were?"
"Pardon me, but might we refrain from discussing the incident further? It is no longer amusing, and I find myself feeling rather embarrassed."
"Indeed, I sought advice from a friend on how best to calm you down."
"Oh no, not Regina as well? I anticipate she will jest about this indefinitely."
"My apologies, I could not think of an alternative. That was a considerable time ago, however."
"Very well, today I am inclined to partake in some red bean soup. We can arrange for it later. However, prior to that, a session at the spa is in order. Furthermore, your makeup requires attention, unless you wish for me to address it."
"I must insist, if you attempt to assist me, you will remain in my company. I assure you!"
"Understood. I shall await your return. However, you cannot leave in your current state—I long for the return of my wife. Therefore, I implore you to hasten your return for lunch. I shall be waiting eagerly!" *sigh*
Aaron and I walked hand in hand downstairs. The waiter looked at me. "Oh! She was Miss drunk," he said, with a Jamaican accent. I turned red. Oh my god, I felt so embarrassed. "I don't wish to leave. Now, it's okay. We'll just take some drinks and then we'll go straight to our spot treatment." We went there and I think it was a good massage. We talked about Suriname. "What do you think if we move to Jamaica," Aaron suggested. "Oh come on, Aaron, you're not trying to do this right now, promise me." "No, it's fine. We can do this. Now that I think about it, I don't really like it here. I mean, it's cool, it's fine. The people are lovely. It's just, Suriname is okay for me. And I think you should start that angry thing with your mom," I said to him. "Oh my god, I liked you better when you were high, hippies." "Uh-huh, of course. You think I would forget, huh?" "Unfortunately, no. Not suffering from memory loss." We smiled. "Now we're in Jamaica, for real. Suriname is fine for me." "Okay boss, as you wish. About our wedding, when are we going to plan it again?" "Very soon. Let's just enjoy this vacation and try not to get high anymore here." We chuckled. "Oh my god, this has to be a great story for our old days and our kids. We all forget about it." I chuckled. Bad.
