Chapter 33: A day well spent

The day went by super fast, and I was feeling incredibly sleepy. We watched the sunset together while holding hands.

"Make a wish," he said.

"Huh?" I said, confused.

"Yes, do it. My grandma said this was the best time to make a wish," he explained.

I chuckled. "Well, I guess your grandma was weird because I heard people wishing on falling stars, but never on the sunset."

"Just do it, Mrs. Stubborn," he teased.

"Yeah, okay," I said, closing my eyes. "And what did you wish for?" he asked.

"Am I supposed to tell you that too?" I asked, knowing that sometimes wishes worked the other way around.

"Just tell me," he insisted.

"Nothing much," I said. "Just that I wanted a brand new house here," I smiled, although I knew it was a lie. I actually wished that Tianna could remember everything we ever did.

He smiled back and kissed my hand.

We drank more cocktails, and I suggested we should head home. "No need," Aaron said. "I've already booked a hotel room here until tomorrow morning. I've sent someone over to our house. They will bring our bags here. Tomorrow the driver will bring us straight to the airport."

I looked at him skeptically. "You'll do everything to avoid your mom, huh? That's sick," I remarked.

"I'm just trying to make sure we catch our flight without any stress," he replied calmly. "Go to the room and sleep as much as you want," he said, gesturing towards our hotel room.

"I'm going to take a nap," I said, feeling a mix of emotions.

I thought I'd have a quick nap, but when I opened my eyes, it was already 10 o'clock. I felt so tired. Rising from the bed, I walked to the fridge to look for something to snack on because I was definitely hungry. There were only drinks, but no snacks at all. Aaron was still sitting on the balcony. I kissed him.

"Did you sleep?" I asked.

"No, I'm just enjoying the view, and I can see an artist from here having a live performance. So that was kind of cool for me. That's what I've been doing the whole time," he replied with a smile.

"Okay, lol, do you have something to eat, because I'm hungry again.”

“Are you pregnant? You eat like twice as much as I do," he teased.

"Yeah, I don't know. Are you worried?" I responded playfully.

"Of course not," Aaron replied. "It would be the biggest blessing for me."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," I laughed. "I want to order room service, but I kind of want to enjoy the fun downstairs too. So I'll get ready. Do you want to come with me? Then we can maybe dance downstairs," I suggested.

"Oh, sounds like a plan," Aaron said enthusiastically.

I quickly put my hair in a messy bun, but still looked cute and neat. I put on a cute dress, grabbed my shoes and some accessories, and then we went downstairs. Aaron was already ready for this occasion. We went downstairs, and he immediately ordered more drinks.

"I think you should slow down on that. That's the reason why you're not eating. You're drinking way too much. How many drinks did you have?" I asked him concerned.

"I don't know. I lost count," he admitted.

"Aaron, seriously, take it slow," I said.

"Yeah, I will, I will," he assured me.

"Okay then," I said. "I want to order something that's easy to eat, so I'll just go with a steak and mashed potatoes. And for you, my love?"

"Hot and spicy wings," Aaron replied.

"Perfect. You got it," I said, as I placed our order, and the waiter asked us to sit so she could bring us our order.

I was quiet for a moment.

I took a sip from his drink. "You're acting weird, okay? Let's make this our time. Let's not talk about issues and enjoy this vacation for real. I know I have some things to sort out with my mom, but it will be all fine. I will not stay mad at her my whole life. But now you should trust me. Please give me some space to rethink all of this. But for God's sake, can we please not talk about this issue anymore? I feel like we're already on vacation and this is really not the vibe for it," He expressed with a sigh.

"Alright. Whatever you wish," I responded.

"But please don't drink too much," I added.

"I won't," he assured me. "I'm just having fun, I know what I can handle."

"Yes, okay, I trust you," I said. "You're tired, huh?"

"I feel really tired, yes," I replied. "I tried to enjoy it. We have to rise early tomorrow anyway."

"Yeah, I know. I'm already tired for tomorrow," he admitted.

We both laughed. "Hey, this song is kinda dope, huh?" he said.

"Yeah, I do love it," I replied.

"Who is this artist?" he asked.

"I don't know, I don't know his name but I like his voice. It's different, right?"

The waiter brought our food. The steak was delicious, just like I loved it. Aaron ate the wings very quickly. "You're drunk, huh? Trying to control it with something salty?" I chuckled. He smiled. "Haha, you're funny. They are just delicious, like really hot and spicy. Wanna taste?"

"No," I said, "it will ruin my lipstick. I'll stick to the steak. Do you want some?"

"Yes, I would love a bite," he said. I fed him. We ate, we drank, we talked about random stuff. Then he asked me to go and have a dance with him. "Sure," I said. He grabbed my hand, and we danced slowly on the beach. I held him. He was so wonderful. "I love you," I whispered in his ear.

"I love you too," he said. We danced on three motions. And then we got back to our seats, taking more drinks. It was a lovely night. All we could do was smile.

"I cannot believe that I'm the one this lucky," Aaron said to me.

"Now I am the lucky one," I said. We held each other's hands.

"Can we do this often?" he said.

"Sounds like a plan," I said. "I'm so excited for Jamaica. I really cannot wait. I imagine myself on the beautiful beaches."

"Oh, talking about the beach and the sun. Did you put sunscreen in our bags?" I asked.

"Oh yes, of course," Aaron replied.

"Well, okay, good," I said. "Then I think we are all set. But I cannot wait for tomorrow. I'm super, super excited."

"Yeah, me too," he said.

"Okay, it's already 12 o'clock now. I think we should go to bed because we have to leave by 4 o'clock."

"Okay, maybe, yeah, 4 o'clock is fine. Because the airport is an hour away and our flight will leave at 8 o'clock. It's just a short flight, I don't think they will be that annoying."

"Why do we have to leave so early?" Aaron asked.

"Aaron, trust me."

"Oh, I've booked business, we have priority line," he said.

"Aaron, no, I'm gonna get anxious. Let's just go, we will enjoy there. I told you to sleep, it's not my fault."

"Yeah, okay, let's go."
